Chapter 1192 The Fish Took the Bait

Patricia went over a long list of things to keep in mind, and Charles noted everything down carefully. Finally, she said, "Now that Hannah's pregnant, she definitely can't keep going to school! She should take a break. And you two need to get your marriage license and have a wedding right away! We can't have people gossiping when the baby is born."

Charles nodded obediently. "I'll find some time in the next couple of days to get the marriage license with Hannah."

Patricia couldn't stop smiling. "Great! I'll pick a good day for you to get the license! And we need to have a wedding too. I want everyone to know that Hannah is my daughter-in-law! But since she's pregnant, we should keep it simple. Just invite some close friends, family, and business partners."

Charles agreed to all of Patricia's requests.

Seeing Lassie looking worried and not very happy, Patricia couldn't help but ask, "Lassie, what's wrong? Aren't you happy to be a grandmother soon?"

Lassie sighed, reluctant. "I just got my daughter back and was hoping to keep her with me for a few years. But now, she's marrying Charles so soon! I can't bear to let her go."

Patricia laughed heartily and put an arm around Lassie's shoulder. "Come on! If you miss them, they can always come back and stay with you. I'm not old-fashioned! They can stay at the Moore Mansion for a month, and be here for a month. If that's not enough, their first child can take your last name, and the second one can take Charles's."

Lassie's eyes lit up. "Really? The baby can have the last name Moore?"

Patricia patted her chest. "Of course! Look at Charles and Fannie, they both have my last name. We don't care about these things. Besides, just because the child has the mother's last name doesn't mean they're not part of the Langley family. The mother carries the baby for nine months; it's only fair. Don't worry, you know me. I'm very open-minded! As long as they get married quickly, we'll agree to whatever you want."

Lassie shook her head vigorously. "No need! As long as they can come back and stay with us sometimes, and one child has the last name Violet, we have no other demands."

Patricia laughed. "It's settled then!"

"Deal!" Lassie confirmed.

Just like that, the two women easily arranged Hannah and Charles's wedding.

They were so engrossed in their conversation that they forgot about the crowd waiting outside. It wasn't until someone knocked on the door that they remembered. After reminding Charles to take good care of Hannah, they left.

As soon as they stepped out, Martin grabbed Patricia's hand eagerly. "So, is she pregnant?"

The noisy crowd fell silent, like a thunderclap in a clear sky, leaving everyone stunned.

Fannie widened her eyes in disbelief. "Dad, what did you say? Hannah is pregnant?"

Carter looked equally shocked. "I'm going to be a grandfather?"

This was too unexpected. He wasn't prepared at all!

Patricia took out a pregnancy test and smiled. "We used a pregnancy test, and to be sure, we did three tests. All positive!"

Fannie blinked. "So, Hannah is really pregnant?"

Patricia nodded firmly. "Yes! But we still need to confirm at the hospital. She's having severe morning sickness, so don't bother her. Let her rest in her room."

Martin, unable to hide his joy, exclaimed, "Great, I'm going to be a grandpa!"

Fannie pointed to herself. "I'm going to be an aunt?"

Patricia gently tapped her forehead. "Yes, you're going to be an aunt! You need to set a good example for your little nephew or niece and stop messing around."

Fannie pouted. "I don't mess around!"

Since learning about Hannah's pregnancy, Carter had been standing there in a daze. Suddenly, he jumped up, rolling up his sleeves. "That rascal! He got my daughter pregnant. I'll skin him alive!"

Lassie pulled him back, exasperated. "They say a daughter's husband has the hardest time with her father. I didn't believe it before, but now I do! Violet is an adult. She and Charles are in love and engaged. What's so strange about them taking the next step? Besides, you saw it yourself! Why are you so surprised?"

Carter stammered, "But, I, he, they..."

Seeing it was one thing. Knowing his daughter was pregnant was another. These were two different matters! Even though his daughter was an adult, he still saw her as a child. How could his child be having a child?

Lassie rolled her eyes at him. "Patricia said Hannah's first child will have the last name Moore . They'll split their time between our place and here. Violet isn't leaving; you're gaining a son-in-law and a grandchild. What more do you want?"

Carter suddenly calmed down. "Wait, did you say their first child will have the last name Moore?"

He looked at Martin, worried he might disagree. But Martin didn't react at all. Instead, he put an arm around Patricia and said nonchalantly, "I'm not old-fashioned. I don't mind! Even if the child has the last name Moore, they're still part of the Langley family. I don't care about such trivial matters."

Carter's mood was successfully soothed. Thinking about their first grandchild having the last name Moore, he suddenly felt that Hannah's pregnancy wasn't such a bad thing after all. He even started to smile foolishly. "Haha. That sounds pretty good! If it's a boy, he can inherit the Moore family business."

Patricia teased, "What? If it's a girl, she can't? I didn't know you were so old-fashioned."

Carter pouted, defending himself. "I can give it to Charles! But he probably wouldn't want it. His business is so big; he wouldn't care about our company."

Lassie playfully punched his chest. "Enough! What nonsense are you talking about?"

"Haha."

Everyone burst into laughter, the sound echoing down the hallway.

Just then, the door opened, and Charles walked out with a serious expression. Looking at Martin, he said gravely, "Dad, the mastermind has taken the bait."
