Chapter 1076 Hannah Kissed Charles

Charles rolled his eyes at Stella in exasperation, took Hannah's hand, and said with concern, "Don't open your eyes yet. I'll take you to rinse them out. Just follow me."

Hannah inexplicably trusted him. Following his words, she obediently kept her eyes closed. Even though she didn't know where he was taking her, she felt at ease following him.

In no time, Charles led Hannah to a faucet. "Bend over and lower your head. I'll help you rinse your eyes."

"Okay!" Hannah nodded, following his instructions, bending over and lowering her head.

Charles cupped some water in his hands and brought it to her eyes, speaking gently, "Blink your eyes in the water to flush out the dirt."

Hannah did as he said and blinked her eyes.

After one rinse, Charles helped her with a second one. "How does it feel? Any better?"

Hannah whispered, "A little bit better!"

"Let me take a look!" Charles discarded the water in his hands, had Hannah lift her head, and then lowered his own, holding the back of her head with one hand and opening her eyelid with the other.

Sure enough, there was a small black speck in her left eye.

Charles blew gently for a while until he managed to blow the speck out of her eye. "Blink again and see if it feels better."

Hannah obediently blinked and found that it indeed felt better. She smiled broadly. "Thank you, I'm so glad you're here."

Her smile was bright and radiant, like a flower blooming in spring. The warm sunlight shone on her, making even the fine hairs on her face clearly visible.

Charles was momentarily stunned, then suddenly burst into laughter.

Hannah was baffled by his laughter. "What's so funny?"

Charles took a handkerchief from his pocket, dampened it, and carefully wiped the dust off her face. "You always end up getting yourself all dirty like this."

The temperature on the mountain was low, and the handkerchief was icy cold. As soon as it touched Hannah's skin, she shivered from the cold.

It was then that Hannah realized her face had somehow gotten smudged with soot. Because the soot was black, her face looked quite dirty.

And just now, she had been looking up at Charles, which must have made her look quite silly.

Thinking of this, Hannah's face instantly turned red with embarrassment. "Is it clean now? Is there any left?"

Charles checked her face, making sure it was clean, then rinsed the handkerchief under the faucet.

Hannah watched the clear water flow through his long fingers, her heart inexplicably racing. Images of his strong hands moving over her body flashed through her mind, making her breath quicken.

What was happening? When did she become so lewd? Why was she thinking about this? Hannah shook her head vigorously and lightly slapped her face, trying to stay clear-headed.

But the more she tried to control her thoughts, the more they wandered: Charles pinning her to the bed, his kiss, his breath, his gentle voice, lifting her legs and entering her.

The more Hannah thought about it, the bolder the images became. She didn't dare stay any longer and turned to run.

She was afraid that if she stayed, she wouldn't be able to control herself. How could she think of such things?

Charles had just finished washing the handkerchief and was about to call Hannah back when he turned around and found she had already run off. His mind went blank for a moment, his breath caught, and a familiar sense of fear washed over him.

Hannah was gone again. He had lost Hannah once more. He panicked, forgetting to turn off the faucet, and ran to find Hannah.

Instinctively, he thought of finding Stella and Randy to help search. After all, Hannah had just disappeared. Even if she had been taken, she couldn't have gone far.

But before he could find Stella and Randy, he saw Hannah walking ahead with her hands covering her face, head lowered.

Charles let out a huge sigh of relief, like a drowning man finding a lifeline. He rushed over and hugged Hannah from behind, burying his face in her neck. "You're here, thank goodness you're here."

Hannah was stunned. She hadn't expected that her embarrassment would cause such a big reaction from Charles.

Charles's warm breath on her earlobe and exposed skin spread through her bloodstream, gathering in her heart, making it feel warm and full. "What's wrong with you?"

The fear of losing Hannah hadn't yet dissipated from Charles's body. The moment he turned and didn't see Hannah, the fear of losing her had enveloped him, plunging him into boundless terror once more.

He was afraid she had disappeared again. Afraid she had been taken by Tina again. Afraid that after finally helping her regain some memories, she would forget him once more.

Even though he knew Tina was now in custody and couldn't possibly come here to take Hannah, he was still inexplicably afraid.

Losing Hannah that time had left him with a psychological scar. He was truly terrified.

"I... I thought I lost you again. Last time, you disappeared right under my nose. I almost lost you forever! If you hadn't gone to the police station and been photographed, I might still be looking for you! Hannah, promise me, no matter where we are, you must stay within my sight. I can't lose you. Without you, I can't live."

His heartfelt confession moved Hannah to tears, her eyes welling up with moisture.

How terrified Charles must be! She had only been gone for a short while, and he was already so scared, his hands trembling as he held her.

A strange feeling rose in her heart. It was a tingling sensation, like an electric current running through her body.

Hannah didn't know what was happening to her. Maybe she was too moved, or maybe she had already fallen for Charles. She turned around, cupped Charles's face, stood on tiptoe, and kissed his cheek with her cold lips.

It was a brief kiss. Charles was stunned, his eyes widening in disbelief that Hannah had just kissed him.

"You... you... I..." The usually eloquent Charles was stammering. He was so happy he was almost incoherent, not knowing how to express his feelings.

Hannah didn't know why she had kissed him. When she realized what she had done, her face turned bright red. She covered her mouth with her hands, looked at Charles for a moment, then turned and ran.

Charles caught a glimpse of the shyness in her eyes and couldn't help but touch the spot where she had kissed him with his long fingers. It seemed to still hold her warmth. Her lips were as soft as ever.
