Chapter 1125 Carter Woke Up
Charles curled his thin lips and said in a deep voice, "If you want me to spare Austin's life, it's simple. Undo the hypnosis on Carter and bring back Violet's memory!"
This time, Tina agreed almost immediately. "Alright! I agree! Just don't hurt Austin, and I'll do whatever you want."
Lassie felt like she was dreaming, shocked that Tina agreed so quickly.
"If you undo the hypnosis on my husband, will he wake up right away?" Lassie asked.
Tina nodded.
"And will my daughter remember everything?" Lassie continued.
Tina replied, "I didn't do the first hypnosis on her, but I can reverse it. My condition stays the same: you can't harm Austin."
Lassie agreed without hesitation. "Fine, as long as you do those two things, I promise Austin will be safe."
Despite everything Austin had done, Lassie had raised him like her own son. She couldn't stand the thought of him dying.
Charles felt the same way. He knew that if Austin were executed, Lassie would be devastated. He planned to have Austin spend his life in prison, paying for his crimes. The death penalty was just a scare tactic to get Tina to undo the hypnosis on Carter and restore Violet's memory.
Tina took a deep breath, holding back her tears. "Alright, take me to Mr. Moore now, and I'll undo the hypnosis."
Charles glanced at Lassie. Though it was a subtle look, Lassie instantly understood his intention. Since Tina was mentally strong and resistant, they had to use Austin to pressure her. Otherwise, she might never agree to undo the hypnosis on Carter and Violet.
Charles personally escorted Tina to Rose Garden Manor. This time, she wasn't bound or guarded by multiple bodyguards, just one accompanying her. He knew that as long as Austin was in his hands, Tina wouldn't cause trouble or try to escape.
Sure enough, Tina behaved well throughout the journey. To prevent her from silently hypnotizing anyone, everyone wore sunglasses and avoided eye contact with her.
Upon arriving at Rose Garden Manor, Lassie led them directly to Carter's room.
Though Carter had been bedridden for a long time, he was well cared for, with regular nutrition injections and rehabilitation exercises preventing muscle atrophy. He was just slightly thinner than before, looking more like he was asleep than ill.
Charles and Lassie stood by the bed, and Charles said to Tina, "He's right there. Go ahead."
Tina walked to the bedside, feeling a surge of guilt as she looked at the sleeping Carter.
Despite helping Austin deceive the Moore family and Charles, kidnapping Hannah and erasing her memory, and hypnotizing Carter, she felt remorseful.
But for Austin's sake, she was willing to bear the guilt and help him, no matter what.
Charles and Lassie watched closely, curious about how Tina would undo the hypnosis.
To their surprise, Tina simply snapped her fingers three times near Carter's ear and said, "Wake up." Carter's eyelashes fluttered.
Charles was puzzled. Lassie asked, "Is that it?"
Tina nodded. "Yeah, he'll wake up soon."
Lassie was shocked. She had expected something more complicated. "Really? You're not tricking us, are you?"
Tina replied, "He'll wake up soon. You'll see for yourselves."
Lassie was skeptical. But as Tina said, Carter's eyes started to move, his eyelids and eyelashes fluttering more frequently. Lassie's heart raced with excitement as she grabbed Carter's hand. "Dear, you're waking up! You're finally waking up!"
Tears streamed down her face. After all the terrible events, her life had been shrouded in darkness. She had kept moving forward, and now she finally saw a glimmer of hope.
Perhaps hearing her call, Carter's eyes moved for a while before he finally opened them. At first, he was confused, his eyes filled with bewilderment.
Lassie was both excited and happy, trying to wipe away her tears, but they kept falling. She sniffled and choked up, "Dear, you're finally awake. Do you know how long you've been asleep? I almost thought you'd never wake up."
Charles was also happy and called out, "Carter, you're awake!"
Carter looked at him, then at Lassie. Seeing Lassie crying so hard, he felt distressed and instinctively raised his hand to wipe her tears.
Lassie didn't want him to worry, so she quickly wiped her face. "I'm just happy, crying tears of joy. Don't worry!"
Carter held her tear-streaked face and asked hoarsely, "What happened to me? Where am I?"
His voice was rough from not speaking for so long.
His question made Lassie immediately suspect that Tina had erased his memory. Her gaze turned sharp as she looked at Tina.
Tina, skilled at reading people, understood her suspicion and said innocently, "I didn't do anything!"
Lassie gritted her teeth. "If not you, then why doesn't he remember? Did you erase his memory to prevent him from saying something?"
Tina felt wronged. "I really didn't! When I hypnotized him, Alan and Ryan arrived before I could do anything. You saw just now, I didn't do anything."
Lassie sneered, "You're so cunning and skilled at hypnosis. Even if you did something, we wouldn't notice."
"I..." Tina realized she couldn't defend herself.
This time, Charles believed Tina. After getting to know her better, he understood her personality. If Tina had done something, she would silently admit it, not bother to explain or deny it. Her eagerness to defend herself now suggested she hadn't done anything. Besides, with Austin's life in their hands, she wouldn't dare do anything.
Thinking this through, Charles approached the bed and smiled. "Carter, you fell down the stairs in Country H and hit your head, causing you to be unconscious until now. Do you remember?"
Carter's prolonged unconsciousness made it hard for him to think clearly. The incident had happened so suddenly and quickly that he couldn't process it. But Charles's reminder brought back fragmented memories like movie clips.
