Chapter 792: The Wedding Arrangements
Austin had left.
Everyone stared at Charles.
Maria pouted, "I told you, he came back for Violet! First thing he did was find her, he doesn't even remember us."
Charles didn't react, just kept eating his breakfast.
Patricia glared at him, "Austin's your brother. How could you use force on him? He only offended you because he cares about Violet."
Maria chimed in, "Patricia's right! I get how he feels. It's like how you prefer Violet over me. Of course, I feel jealous; it's normal."
Charles stayed silent.
After finishing his breakfast, he went upstairs.
Patricia fumed, "He's all gentle with Violet but so impatient with us! He hasn't even married her yet and he's already forgotten about me."
Charles had reserved all his patience for Violet.
She'd never seen him so patient with anyone else.
It seemed destined; ever since Carter joked about marrying Violet to Charles, their fates were intertwined.
Upstairs, Charles set their phones to vibrate, grabbed a book, and went to Violet's room.
Since middle school, Violet had been sleep-deprived.
When Charles left, he took her phone with him.
Without disturbances, Violet slept until eleven.
First thing she did was reach for her phone, but it was gone.
A gentle voice spoke, "Awake?"
Violet blinked, memories of last night flashing back.
Charles had returned.
She'd slept at Sunshine Manor.
So, she was still at Sunshine Manor?
She sat up and saw Charles on the balcony cradle, reading.
Since they started sleeping in separate rooms, this room was hers.
Knowing she liked cradles, Charles had one installed on the balcony.
Though she rarely used it, it was well-maintained by the staff.
Sunlight bathed Charles, giving him a golden glow, making him seem almost dreamlike.
Seeing her awake, Charles smiled, put down his book, and walked in.
"Had a good sleep? Well-rested?" he asked gently.
Still groggy, Violet rubbed her eyes, "Charles, why are you up so early? What time is it?"
Charles ruffled her hair, "It's still early! Let's go down for breakfast, then I'll take you to school."
"Okay!"
Violet nodded, grabbed clothes, and groggily went to freshen up.
Seeing her dazed, Charles laughed softly, shaking his head. He tidied the bed and packed her school bag.
When Violet came out of the bathroom, the room was already tidy.
Used to his care, she smiled, "Let's go down for breakfast!"
"Alright!" Charles nodded, carrying her school bag in one hand and holding her hand with the other.
As they walked downstairs, lunch was being prepared.
Patricia was on the sofa, talking to Kaleb. Seeing them, she waved at Violet, "Dad, I have to go now. You're getting older, and it's not good for you to travel so much. I've booked the tickets. I'll visit you and then go on vacation with Martin. When we come back, you'll come with us. You shouldn't be traveling so much at your age."
Kaleb sighed, "Alright! Maximilian and Carol are stable now; they don't need me. I can enjoy my life with you."
"Good! I'll let you know when we leave," Patricia said.
"Give my regards to Martin and the kids," Kaleb asked.
"Will do!" Patricia agreed.
After hanging up, Patricia walked over to Violet, smiling warmly, "Violet, you're awake? Did you sleep well?"
Violet nodded, "I haven't slept this well since middle school."
Patricia ushered her to the dining room, "Come, lunch is ready. You must be starving! These are all your favorite dishes, specially ordered by Charles."
Before she could finish, Violet suddenly cried out.
Patricia was startled, "What's wrong?"
Violet's eyes widened in panic, "Patricia, did you just say it's lunchtime?"
Patricia blinked, "Yes, it's past eleven! It's time for lunch!"
Realizing it was noon, Violet broke into a cold sweat, grabbed her school bag from Charles, and dashed to the door.
Charles, anticipating her move, caught her by the collar.
"Where are you going?"
Violet was near tears, "I'm late. The teacher will definitely punish me!"
Charles chuckled, "I already got you a leave of absence! Alan prepared the sick note. When you get to school, just give it to your teacher, and they won't say anything."
Violet stopped and looked at Charles.
"Really?" she asked.
Charles released her collar and gently flicked her forehead.
"Of course! I know you haven't rested well, so I got you a sick leave. We still have time. Let's have lunch leisurely."
Hearing this, Violet smiled, grabbed Charles by the collar, and kissed him on the cheek.
"I love you so much, Charles!" she beamed.
After the kiss, she ran to the dining table and started eating, oblivious to Charles's face turning bright red.
Patricia covered her mouth, laughing quietly.
"I think, once you both reach the legal age, I'll arrange your wedding! No need to run two places," Patricia said.
Charles's face turned even redder, his ears burning. He glared at Patricia, then rushed to the bathroom to splash cold water on his face until the heat subsided.
