Chapter 1218 Heartbroken

The man approached Stella, his face a blank slate as he asked, "Who are you? Why are you eavesdropping?"

His voice jolted Stella back to reality.

She quickly pulled herself together and extended her hand. "Hi, I'm Stella, a sophomore in journalism. I heard you playing the piano and thought it sounded amazing. Are you from the music department?"

"Journalism sophomore, huh?" The man's expression softened a bit as he raised an eyebrow and shook her hand. "I'm Emeric Vosskühler, a junior in the music department."

Stella's eyes widened in surprise. "You're Emeric?"

Emeric Vosskühler raised an eyebrow. "You know me?"

Stella's eyes lit up like she had found a hidden gem, nodding enthusiastically. "Of course! You're the famous musical prodigy at our school. You were even voted the most handsome guy at D University in your freshman year. The school leaders have high hopes for you! Didn't you take a break from school last year? Are you back now?"

Emeric's eyes flickered, clearly not wanting to dive into too many questions. He pressed his lips together. "I have something to do. I need to go."

Without waiting for Stella's response, he walked past her and left.

Not willing to let him go so easily, Stella chased after him and blocked his path, smiling. "Emeric, I'm not from the music department, but I'm learning piano too! I just got back from a tour with my cousin. Can I add you on Facebook? We can talk about music."

A subtle, unreadable glint flashed in Emeric's eyes as he asked, "Who's your cousin?"

Stella, unsuspecting, replied, "Randy. Do you know him?"

Emeric's eyes lit up for a moment. "Your cousin is Randy?"

Stella nodded eagerly. "Yes! Do you know Randy?"

Emeric smiled, his first smile of the day. "Anyone who loves music knows the name of the Piano Prince. I didn't expect him to be your cousin!"

Stella was almost entranced by his smile. "Yes! I never knew what I liked until I discovered the piano through Randy. Now I find it so interesting! The piece you played earlier, 'Whispers of Stardust,' was the first piece I learned to play on my own. We must be destined to meet! How about we add each other on Facebook and talk about music?"

This time, Emeric agreed readily, taking out his phone and opening Facebook.

After adding each other, Emeric left coolly.

Stella looked at Emeric's Facebook profile picture, grinning like a fool.

Hannah raised an eyebrow. "You haven't fallen for him, have you?"

Having known Stella for so long, Hannah understood her quite well. Stella only ever showed this kind of infatuation towards Charles and Randy.

Even Austin, whom Stella had always dismissed, didn't get this reaction from her.

Stella responded confidently, "Don't you think he's handsome?"

Hannah almost rolled her eyes, poking Stella's head. "Get a grip! Sure, he's good-looking, but you've seen plenty of handsome guys. How can you be so taken with him? Look around you—aren't there plenty of guys better looking than him? Not to mention Charles, Randy, and even Tyler, Ryan's son. Even Austin, whom you don't think much of, is better looking. If your eyes aren't working, you might as well donate them!"

Stella wasn't offended at all. Instead, she clasped her hands over her heart, looking shy. "I just like his cool demeanor. It's a challenge to win him over."

Hannah sighed. "That's not cool; that's just pretentious!"

Stella didn't understand.

Hannah tried to reason with her. "Stella, remember how you warned me about Austin? This Emeric guy doesn't seem any better. He ignored you at first, but as soon as he heard Randy was your cousin, he added you on Facebook. That shows he has ulterior motives. He might use your feelings later on. Trust me, stay away from guys like him. Don't be fooled by looks, especially when he doesn't even have that."

Stella hooked her arm around Hannah's neck, brushing off her concerns. "You're not entirely wrong, but men and women are attracted to each other for different reasons. If he added me because of Randy, it means I have something that interests him! Just like how you and Charles started. He fell for your looks first, then your abilities and personality. Trust me, I'm not someone who loses my head over a guy. I'll be careful and won't be fooled."

As she spoke, she couldn't help but glance longingly in the direction Emeric had left.

Hannah sighed, realizing Stella was already smitten and wouldn't listen to reason. She decided to drop the subject.

Stella leaned her head on Hannah's shoulder as they walked out, her face full of dreams. "Look at us, we're about the same age, and you're about to be a mom while I haven't even had a boyfriend! Every time I see you and Charles so sweet together, I'm so envious! I want a passionate love too! Emeric is the first guy to make my heart race. I won't give up without trying!"

Hannah worried. "I'm just afraid you'll be too eager and won't see him clearly. If you find a man who truly loves you, I'll be happy for you!"

Stella smiled. "Don't worry! I know what I'm doing. If one guy doesn't work out, there's always another! There are plenty of men in the world !"

Hannah was speechless.

The two of them went to the administration office to handle their leave of absence. As they walked to the school gate, they saw two identical men leaning against a black Maybach.

Charles was wearing a white shirt and black pants, his long legs looking even more striking due to his posture. Randy was dressed in a white casual outfit with a baseball cap, looking refreshingly cool in the summer heat.

Seeing them, Stella and Hannah quickened their pace.

Hannah asked excitedly, "Why are you here? We said we'd come back on our own."

Charles took her hand, holding it tightly. "We finished work at the company, and Randy had some free time, so we thought we'd pick you up. You said you'd be done in half an hour, but it took longer. Did something happen?"

Hannah glanced at Stella. "It's her fault! She got distracted by a guy, so it took longer."

Charles raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Distracted by a guy?"

The four of them got into the car. Charles drove, with Hannah in the passenger seat. Randy and Stella sat in the back.

Hannah briefly explained what had happened.

After hearing the story, Charles instinctively glanced at Randy through the rearview mirror.

Randy's expression didn't change, but he asked calmly, "Is that Emeric really that handsome?"

Thinking of Emeric, Stella started gushing again. "He's super handsome! Great aura, so cool.."

Hannah rolled her eyes. "Now I understand what it means when they say love is blind. You're seeing him through rose-colored glasses! Be careful, or you'll get hurt."

Stella was undeterred, full of enthusiasm. "The harder the challenge, the more I want to conquer it! I refuse to believe I can't win him over with my charm."

Randy lowered his gaze, hiding his true emotions, and said nothing more.
