Chapter 1015 The Fake Hannah

The engagement ceremony went smoothly.

Since the segment where both sets of parents were supposed to go on stage was canceled, the ceremony ended much earlier than planned.

Lisa and Quentin were waiting in the lounge to go on stage, but before they could, they received news that the ceremony had already concluded, leaving them both bewildered.

The guests were not aware of the specific segments, so the absence of the parents on stage did not cause much of a reaction.

However, the relatives were a different story.

Everyone had asked about the specific segments of the engagement ceremony and noticed that the part where the parents went on stage was suddenly canceled. They looked at each other, unable to figure out what had happened.

Fannie quietly asked Randy, "Randy, wasn't there supposed to be a segment where both sets of parents go on stage? Why was it suddenly canceled?"

She clearly remembered that they had even rehearsed it.

Randy shook his head, equally puzzled. "I don't know!"

Maria whispered, "I just looked around and couldn't find Mom! Did something important come up suddenly, so they canceled that segment?"

Fannie was confused. "What could be more important than Charles's engagement?"

Declan calmly said, "If it was canceled, there must be a reason. We'll ask Dad about it later! Stop talking about it now, or others might hear."

Fannie pouted, "You're the youngest in the family, but you act like you're the oldest, always so serious!"

She wasn't afraid of anything, not even Martin. But she was afraid of the stern Declan, who was six years younger than her.

It was quite embarrassing to admit.

After the ceremony, Charles held Hannah's hand and left directly from behind the stage, exiting the banquet hall through a door at the back.

Hannah was trembling with excitement.

Her emotions were in turmoil.

Hannah asked, "Charles, after the engagement, are we going back to Country D?"

Charles replied indifferently, "I still need to stay here for a few more days! Once I finish the remaining tasks, we'll go on a trip. We agreed on this before; you wanted to travel."

Hannah suddenly remembered. "Oh! I remember now! We agreed to go on a trip."

Charles's eyes flickered as he opened the door to the lounge.

Hannah closed the door behind her, stood on tiptoe, wrapped her arms around Charles's neck, and boldly tried to kiss him.

Just as their lips were about to touch, Charles pulled away.

Hannah frowned and complained, "What's wrong with you?"

Charles picked up a thermos from the dressing table, poured some water into the lid, and handed it to Hannah. "You must be thirsty after talking so much! Have some water to soothe your throat."

Hannah pouted, "Kiss me and I won't be thirsty anymore."

A hint of disgust flashed in Charles's eyes, but he kept smiling. "Be good! Drink the water first, and then we'll kiss."

Hannah felt a bit giddy and shyly took the thermos lid, drinking the water.

Charles watched her throat intently, his smile gradually turning cold as he saw her swallow.

Hannah realized she was indeed thirsty.

After finishing the water in the thermos lid, she poured herself another cup and drank it.

Charles patted her shoulder. "Wait a moment. The stylist will be here soon. After the ceremony, you can change into another outfit."

Hannah held onto Charles's arm, trying to pull him to sit on the sofa with her.

They finally had a chance to be alone; she didn't want to miss it.

As soon as they sat down, she leaned into Charles's arms, wrapped her arms around his neck, and tried to kiss him.

Charles's brow furrowed slightly.

He deliberately placed his hand on Hannah's forehead and said with concern, "Hannah, are you feeling unwell?"

Hannah pushed his hand away. "No, I'm fine! Charles, do you not like me anymore?"

Charles said, "Of course not! I told you, I will only love Hannah in this lifetime. I won't love any other woman."

Hannah's body stiffened slightly, then quickly returned to normal, asking pitifully, "Then why won't you kiss me?"

Charles laughed. "What if I mess up your makeup? Then my lips will be covered in makeup, and it won't be easy to clean! Be good. We'll kiss when we get home tonight."

Hannah thought he made sense.

If they kissed now, she would need a long time to fix her makeup.

There would be plenty of time tonight; they could kiss slowly.

Just as she thought this, a wave of drowsiness hit her, and she couldn't help but yawn.

Charles immediately asked, "What's wrong? Are you sleepy?"

The sleepiness came on strong and fast.

In less than a minute, Hannah's eyes could barely stay open.

Hannah tried to stay awake. "I'll take a short nap! Wake me up in a bit! I can't miss such an important occasion today."

Charles gently stroked her head. "Okay! You sleep, and I'll wake you up later."

Before he finished speaking, Hannah couldn't hold on any longer and fell into a deep sleep.

Her breathing became steady.

Charles dropped his pretense, his face turning cold.

He disdainfully pushed Hannah off him, watching her limp body fall onto the sofa without any sign of concern. He took out his phone from his pocket and called Randy.

The call was quickly answered.

Without any unnecessary words, he said directly, "I'm in the lounge. Come over quickly."

Randy didn't ask any questions and agreed readily, "Okay! I'll be right there."

After getting Randy's response, Charles hung up the phone.

A moment later, there was a knock on the lounge door.

"Come in." As Charles spoke, the door was pushed open from the outside.

Randy walked in, closed the door behind him, and was surprised to see Hannah sleeping soundly on the sofa.

Randy asked, "Charles, what happened? What's wrong with Hannah? Why is she asleep?"

It was just an engagement; how could she be this tired?

Charles clapped his hands and stood up from the sofa. "I have something urgent to take care of, and I need to leave for a while. Stay here and watch her for me. If she wakes up, call me."

Randy was too shocked to speak, "Leave? Where to? Today is your engagement party."

Charles glanced at Hannah on the sofa, gritting his teeth and clenching his fists, trying to control his overwhelming anger. "It's complicated, and I can't explain it right now. If you get bored, you can ask Stella to keep you company. As for the outside, I'll inform my uncles to look after things for me. If she wakes up and you don't know how to explain, just give her a sip of water from the thermos on the dressing table."

As he spoke, Charles walked to the wardrobe in the lounge, took out a down jacket, and put it on.

Randy was puzzled but said nothing.

After giving his instructions, Charles left without looking back.
