Chapter 773 Early Love

Lassie leaned in, eyeing Austin's face. "Familiar? No way! He's only a month or two old. How could you have seen him before?"

Patricia studied the baby, looking up and down. The more she looked, the more familiar he seemed.

She shook her head, dismissing the thought, "It must be an illusion! You're right, he's just a month or two old. Besides Violet, I haven't seen any other kids recently!"

Yeah, how could this baby seem familiar? Must be a mistake!

Just then, Austin and Violet, who had been sleeping, woke up.

The moment Violet saw Charles, she started waving her hands and feet excitedly.

Austin, on the other hand, stared at Patricia with wide eyes.

Such a gaze was unusual for a one or two-month-old baby.

Patricia felt a chill as he stared at her, "Why do I feel like he's more mature than Declan? Look at those eyes, like a serious little old man."

Lassie glanced at Austin, "No, I think he's normal! I'm telling you, he's so well-behaved. Except for when we found him crying from the cold, he's usually very quiet! He lies in the cradle so quietly that if I hadn't seen him cry, I'd think he was mute!"

"Really?" Patricia raised eyebrows and looked at Austin again, only to see he was now staring at the chandelier.

Patricia didn't want to hold a grudge against a baby, but she found it odd. Really odd.

Lassie noticed and laughed, "I think some kids are just naturally more reserved. He must be one of those! Maybe he knows he suffered when he was born and is afraid I'll abandon him, so he's especially well-behaved."

Patricia poked her forehead, "You're overthinking it! He's too young to understand that! But since you've decided to raise him, you have to be responsible for him! He's well-behaved and shouldn't cause you any trouble."

Lassie nodded, her eyes lighting up when she spoke of Austin, "Yes, yes! He's really so well-behaved! I quite like him!"

While Patricia and Lassie chatted, Charles was leaning over the cradle, playing with Violet.

Violet grabbed his hand and tried to put it in her mouth.

Charles frowned, "My hand is dirty, you can't eat it!"

Violet frowned, about to cry when she couldn't get what she wanted.

Fannie teased, "Charles, look at her. She likes to cry even more than Maria."

Charles glared at her.

Fannie pouted and glared back, annoyed.

Charles ignored her. Seeing Violet still trying to suck his finger, he took a wet wipe, cleaned his finger, and let her grab it.

As Violet sucked, saliva covered her face.

Charles found it both amusing and annoying. He took a baby wipe and gently cleaned her.

As he wiped, he lectured her like an elder, "Keep your mouth dry, or you'll get a rash. Do you hear me? Stop drooling!"

Violet didn't understand a word, just kept smiling at Charles.

Charles's heart melted for Violet, his eyes fixed on her. He asked Lassie, "Lassie, has the date for Violet's baby shower been set? When is it?"

Lassie replied, "It's set for the first day of next month."

She turned to Patricia, "Carter and I decided to have a joint celebration for both babies! We'll just tell everyone I had twins, a boy and a girl!"

Patricia frowned, "Is that okay?"

Lassie waved off her concern, "Apart from the Bennett family, no one knows I only had a daughter! My parents didn't ask if I had a boy or a girl, or how many! They just came to see me that day! I can lie and say Austin was taken by the nurse for a bath, and that I actually had a boy and a girl."

Patricia glanced at Austin, who was about the same size as Violet, "He's small, so he does look about the same age as Violet! No one should suspect anything."

Lassie beamed, "Yes, yes! Now I have a son and a daughter! Both kids!"

She looked at Austin and Violet in the cradle, very satisfied.

After leaving the Moore family, Charles took Patricia and Fannie to the mall.

Patricia asked curiously, "Why are we at the mall? What do you want to buy?"

Charles ignored her and headed straight to the gold shop on the first floor, browsing the counters.

Fannie, with a knowing look, smiled at Patricia, "I know what Charles is up to! He wants to buy a gift for Violet."

Patricia asked, "How do you know?"

Fannie pointed, "Look, those are baby necklaces! Adults wouldn't wear them! They're for kids!"

Patricia walked over in surprise.

Sure enough, they were selling baby necklaces.

Charles was at the counter, carefully selecting one.

The sales assistant, seeing Charles dressed in designer clothes, was very enthusiastic.

The sales assistant asked, "Hello, how old is the person you're buying for? You might want to look at these two styles; they're our bestsellers this year!"

Patricia took the two gold necklaces from the sales assistant.

"They're nice, but too common! They don't have that amazing sense."

Seeing her dissatisfaction, the sales assistant quickly introduced other styles.

Patricia carefully selected each one based on the sales assistant's recommendations.

Charles remained silent, scanning the counter until his eyes locked onto a gold necklace in the far corner, "Take that one out for me to see."

The one he chose was the most expensive gold necklace in the display.

Because of its price, even though the design was exquisite, it hadn't sold.

Seeing someone interested, the sales assistant quickly took out the gold necklace.

Charles took it from the sales assistant.

The lock was light, not heavy, and the surface was smooth.

Charles's fingers gently traced the pattern on the lock.

VT.

Violet.

Though it was part of the necklace's design, it looked like the letters VT intertwined.

Charles immediately decided, "I'll take this one. Wrap it up for me."

The sales assistant, surprised by his decisiveness, quickly prepared the bill and wrapped the necklace beautifully.

Patricia couldn't help but glance at Charles.

Patricia thought, 'Charles, could he really be falling for Violet? Puppy love?'
