Chapter 662 Not Going To Let It Go Easily

"That day, I was ready to go to Kaleb's place to prepare medication for Martin. As soon as I arrived at the door, I saw Billy acting suspiciously! I knew what Billy had done, I knew he was hiding, and I was afraid he would do something unspeakable to harm Martin, so I called a ride-hailing service and secretly followed him. I followed him out of the city to the newly developed suburbs. And then... Then Billy got out of the car, sneaking glances around, and walked towards the bridge," Patricia explained.

It was because Billy was acting suspicious the whole time.

With the guilty look of someone about to do something wrong, she became more convinced that he must be up to no good.

So, she followed him, and then--

"I was afraid I couldn't handle Billy on my own, so I had the driver follow from a distance while I tried to call the police with my phone. But for some reason, there was no signal there. Billy kept walking further away. I was afraid he would escape, so I wanted to catch him and ask him what was going on. I... I... I didn't expect..."

At this point, Patcricia became somewhat agitated.

"I really didn't expect it; I just tapped his shoulder and then tried to grab his arm. I didn't expect him to fall like that. I really, truly just wanted to stop him; I didn't push him. He is a big man, much taller than me. Even if I had wanted to push him, it wouldn't have been that easy."

The male police officer insisted, "Because you attacked from behind, the victim was defenseless."

Patricia pounded the table with her fist. "I didn't. I didn't. How many times do you need me to say it for you to believe me? Why would I push him? Am I crazy? Besides, there was a driver following us! Even if I really wanted to harm him, why wouldn't I do it discreetly instead of pushing him in front of witnesses? Am I crazy?"

She said so much, but the male police officer wouldn't listen; he only heard what he wanted to hear.

"So you finally admit you wanted to kill him?"

Patricia felt like this male police officer was driving her crazy.

He was taking things out of context and being arrogant.

Patricia had never met anyone more stubborn than him.

"You only hear what you want to hear, right? I said so much, and you only heard that one thing, right? Is this how the police operate?"

The male police officer asserted, "I only believe in eyewitnesses! He has no personal grudge against you. Why would he falsely accuse you?"

Patricia broke down. "How would I know? What if he saw it wrong or had blurred vision?"

The male police officer regarded her with a sardonic smile, exuding an air of "Do you really expect me to believe you?"

Patricia was on the brink of exasperation, almost to the point of spitting blood.

Martin, understanding the situation, gently patted Patricia's hand. "Alright, I think I understand! As long as you didn't do it, everything will be fine."

Patricia, with tears in her eyes, looked at Martin, tears swirling in her eyes. "I'm sorry I've caused trouble for you again."

Martin smiled and then took out his phone, dialing a number for Sebastian.

"Hello, Sebastian?"

Hearing his address, Patricia immediately knew who Martin was calling, shaking her head at him repeatedly. "No, you can't tell Sebastian. If Shane finds out, he'll worry."

Martin made a hushing gesture to her, explaining the situation to Sebastian.

Finally, he reminded, "You can come alone. Don't tell Shane about this for now; Patricia doesn't want Shane to worry."

"Don't worry, I won't tell Shane! I'll come by myself!" Sebastian replied.

Martin expressed his gratitude, "Thank you, Sebastian."

After the call, Martin calmly stated, "Until my lawyer arrives, we have the right to remain silent! Now, we won't answer any of your questions. When our lawyer arrives, we'll talk."

The male police officer's face twisted in anger.

But with the chief nearby, he couldn't explode.

As they prepared to take Patricia to the Detention Center, the door of the interrogation room suddenly swung open from the outside with great force, slamming into the wall and bouncing back.

A person outside steadied the iron door and rushed in.

Susan had been crying all the way, her eyes red and swollen. As soon as she entered, she couldn't wait to ask, "What's going on? What happened to Billy? Have they found him?"

The male police officer added fuel to the fire, "Mr. Billy was pushed off the Starlight Bridge by Ms. Patricia, and the dive team is currently searching, but they haven't found him yet."

After hearing his words, Susan burst into tears.

Susan held her face in her hands, crying uncontrollably without regard for her image.

"Why did this happen? Why? Why would she do this? Why?"

Susan didn't act like a shrew, grabbing Patricia and causing a scene; she just cried and asked with dignity.

Joe's eyes were also red, walking up to Maximilian with a solemn face. Even though he had received this terrible news, he still maintained basic decorum.

"What's going on? Billy... Billy... Is Billy really... really..."

He was choked up and couldn't speak.

Kaleb patted his shoulder. "Don't worry. I'll hire a private dive team right away. No matter what, we will find Billy."

Even if it meant finding a corpse.

The male police officer seemed to think Joe wasn't sad enough, so he said, "The water has been swift these days. There's not even a one-in-a-million chance of finding him. Based on our experience, we might not even find the body."

Upon hearing it, Susan abruptly ceased her weeping, her body jolting momentarily before her eyes shut, and she collapsed straight as a rod, descending towards the ground.

"Susan..." Joe exclaimed and immediately ran over, picking her up at the last moment she fell, holding her in his arms, anxiously patting her face. "Susan, what's wrong with you? Susan... don't scare me, Susan?"

Patricia hurried over and urgently said, "Joe, please lay her flat on the ground. I'm a doctor; I know first aid."

Joe looked up suddenly, his crimson eyes filled with fierce hatred and anger as he stared at Patricia, overwhelming hatred and fury churning inside him.

Patricia was startled by Joe's appearance, taking a step back involuntarily.

Joe's eyes moistened, gritting his teeth. "Even if Billy did many wrongs, that's not a reason for you to kill him! His crimes should be dealt with by the law, not end up with his body missing."

Patricia tried to explain, "Joe, it wasn't me, really..."

But Joe couldn't listen anymore, lifting Susan from the ground. "I won't let Billy's death go like this!"

After saying that, Joe carried the unconscious Susan, and without looking back, he left.
