Chapter 797: Silencing Witnesses
Carter quickly redialed the number after the call abruptly ended.
Austin was just in eighth grade—a kid.
What would Carter do if something happened to him too?
Unfortunately, the call connected, but no one answered.
By the third try, Austin had turned off his phone.
Not wanting to worry Lassie, Carter pretended he had urgent work and left.
As he walked, he called Colton, telling him to report to the police and search the city for Violet.
Meanwhile, the kidnappers tried to tie Violet to a chair, but she fought back, kicking and biting.
"Who are you? Why are you kidnapping me? My dad is Carter Moore. If you touch me, he won't let you get away with it!"
"I don't care who your dad is. You're in our hands now. Don't think you can escape."
The lead kidnapper, Ronald Price, wasn't fazed. When he tried to tie her hands, she bit him hard.
Blood filled her mouth.
Ronald cried out and slapped her hard.
"I didn't even touch you, and you dare bite me! I'll kill you!" Ronald roared.
He slapped her twice more.
Violet's ears rang, her cheeks swelled, and her mouth bled.
Ronald, looking at his bleeding hand, was furious.
If he hadn't reacted quickly, she might have bitten off a chunk of his flesh.
Damn Violet. She looked small, but she was strong.
The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. He raised his hand to hit her again, but Paul Wells stopped him, "Martin, the woman said not to hurt her. She'll be angry if you do," Paul said.
Ronald spat, "Who cares? I'm not taking orders from her. What right does she have to command me?"
Despite his words, he lowered his hand.
Paul asked, "Martin, what now? Should we lock her in a room?"
Ronald, still fuming, snapped, "She's making such a fuss; she'll attract attention!"
Paul quickly taped Violet's mouth shut.
Violet looked at them in terror, tears streaming down her face, eyes wide with fear. She could only make muffled sounds.
In her struggle, her collar had come undone.
Her barely developed chest was half-exposed, and Ronald stared at it. He swallowed hard.
Sensing Ronald's gaze, Violet scooted back in fear.
Though young, she instinctively knew his look was dangerous and was desperate to escape.
Paul, noticing Ronald's intentions, cautioned, "Martin, you can't rape her. She's underage! Besides, the employer said we have to follow her instructions after capturing her."
Ronald wiped the drool from his mouth but managed to restrain himself.
"We've had her for so long, and she still hasn't given us a clear answer!"
Ronald pulled out his phone and dialed a number. The woman on the other end quickly answered.
"We've got the girl. What do we do with her? We went through all this trouble to capture her. Are we just going to let someone rescue her?"
The woman let out a cold laugh, "Since you've captured her, there's no reason to let her go."
Ronald was taken aback, "What do you mean?"
"Kill her! Then bury the body. Make sure it's done cleanly so no one can trace it back to us. Once it's done, I'll pay you a sum of money. Take the money and leave this place forever."
Ronald frowned, "But that woman told us not to harm her?"
The woman became furious, "I'm the one paying you, so you listen to me! Do as I say! That other woman is just a pawn. Follow my instructions, and you'll get your reward."
"Alright, I know what to do."
After ending the call, Paul immediately asked, "Martin, what did she say? What do we do with her?"
Ronald, stroking his chin and looking at Violet, said thoughtfully, "She said to kill her and then bury her somewhere."
Paul hesitated, "But that woman said..."
Ronald interrupted, "I listen to whoever pays me! If the employer says kill, then we kill! But..."
His gaze on Violet grew bolder and more unscrupulous.
Still holding onto some semblance of morality, Paul stepped in front of Ronald and advised, "Ronald, she's underage. You can't rape her."
Ronald shoved him aside, "Get out of my way! She's going to die anyway. Before she does, I'll have my way with her! I've lived for decades and never raped a minor. I wonder what it feels like."
Even if Violet had been slow to understand, she now grasped the meaning of his words. Her face turned deathly pale.
Her body trembled uncontrollably, and tears flowed like a flood down her face.
Charles, where are you?
Please come and save me!
She didn't want to die.
She was only thirteen!
She hadn't married Charles yet, hadn't lived enough!
Austin.
Where are you?
She was so scared.
Someone, please save her!
Thinking about never seeing Charles again made her heart ache with sadness.
Paul, unable to dissuade Ronald and unwilling to witness Violet's rape, turned away and walked far from the scene.
Ronald, unbuttoning his shirt, approached Violet.
"Little girl, don't worry. I'll be gentle with you! Just be good and don't struggle, or you'll suffer more!"
Ronald's gaze was like a venomous snake lurking in the shadows, sending chills down her spine and filling her with disgust.
Violet curled up and tried to move away, but the man kept coming closer, enveloping her in unprecedented despair.
She wanted to scream for help.
She wanted to shout, "No."
But her mouth was sealed, and she couldn't make a sound.
The more terrified she became, the more Ronald was satisfied. After stripping off his clothes, he lunged at Violet.
