Chapter 1008 A Romantic Proposal

This was the happiest New Year Hannah had experienced in her twenty years of life.

There were no parents favoring sons over daughters, no endless chores, no constant scolding, and no mother picking on her for everything.

Charles' family treated her very well, always putting her first and completely treating her as one of their own.

Christmas Eve dinner was also a big family gathering.

Maximilian, Carol, Stella, and Kaleb all came, filling the dining table to the brim with people, making it extremely lively.

After Christmas.

At a Western restaurant.

The entire restaurant was empty, with only Hannah and Charles as the guests.

Hannah exclaimed, "Did you book the whole place? Every other restaurant is so crowded, with long lines, but this place is completely empty."

As soon as she finished speaking, the lights in the restaurant suddenly went out.

"What's going on?" Hannah was startled. Before she could get an answer from Charles, she saw a waiter pushing a cart towards them.

On the cart was a large bouquet of roses, at least ninety-nine by her estimate, and next to the roses was a heart-shaped cake with candles burning on top.

Hannah realized what was happening and her heart started pounding wildly.

As the cart approached, Charles stood up from his seat, picked up the roses from the table, knelt on one knee, and presented the flowers to Hannah. "Hannah, marry me!"

Hannah covered her mouth, tears welling up in her eyes, too emotional to speak.

Although she had decided on Charles the moment they confirmed their relationship.

She had always thought they would take it slow, get engaged when the time was right, get married when they were older, and then naturally have children.

She had never imagined that Charles would kneel down and propose to her.

Even though Austin had once professed his love for her, he had never proposed. The only other time was when her father was ill. When the doctor told her that Quentin's surgery was successful, with no signs of rejection, and that he would be discharged soon, she cried tears of joy. Austin hugged her and said, "Let's get engaged! I'll take care of you for the rest of your life. If anything happens in the future, you can rely on me."

At her most vulnerable moment, those words had really moved her.

But it was just a feeling of being moved. No real emotions were involved.

Now, with Charles kneeling and proposing, she felt not just moved but also a bittersweet urge to cry.

Seeing her silence, Charles continued, "I know you're still in school, still young, and maybe not ready to settle down. I can wait! Let's get engaged first, and we can get married whenever you're ready."

Then he paused and added with emphasis, "Hannah, I like you. I've decided on you for life. Will you marry me?"

Although she had already agreed in her heart, Hannah was still afraid that he was proposing out of a sense of responsibility.

Hannah said, "You don't have to marry me out of obligation! I did it willingly."

Charles laughed. "How could that be! I've wanted to propose to you for a long time, but I was busy at work at the end of the year, and I didn't want to do it half-heartedly. I planned this as soon as we got back to Sunset Bay! I'm marrying you not out of responsibility, but because I love you and want to be with you forever. From the moment I realized my feelings for you, I knew you were the one!"

With her last concern gone, Hannah blinked back her tears and slowly extended her right hand.

Charles' eyes reddened. At the moment Hannah extended her hand, the usually composed and decisive Charles was so excited that he almost couldn't hold the flowers steady.

With trembling hands, he found the hidden diamond ring among the roses and tried to put it on Hannah's finger. He was so excited that it took several attempts to get it on.

Hannah looked at the diamond ring on her right ring finger.

The diamond was large and sparkled brilliantly under the candlelight, looking incredibly beautiful.

Hannah pressed her right hand, with the ring, tightly against her chest, as if she could feel Charles' passionate heart this way.

Throughout the dinner, Hannah was immersed in joy, feeling like she was floating.

When they left the restaurant, it was snowing outside.

A thin layer of white snow had already covered the ground.

Large snowflakes were falling from the sky, and Hannah couldn't help but extend her hand. Watching the snowflakes land in her palm and slowly melt, she felt an indescribable happiness in her heart.

The next moment, a black umbrella appeared above her head.

Hannah looked up at the black umbrella, and scenes from romantic TV dramas flashed through her mind, with music seemingly playing in her ears.

At this moment, she felt like the heroine in a TV drama, and Charles, standing beside her holding the umbrella, was the hero.

Charles held the umbrella with his left hand and wrapped his right arm around Hannah's shoulder. "Are you cold?"

Hannah shook her head. "With you by my side, I'm not cold."

Charles said, "There's a lot of fun stuff at Central Square tonight. Want to go?"

Hannah smiled, her eyes narrowing into a line. "Sure. Why not! I love going on dates with you."

"Central Square is not far from here. Let's walk over!" Charles kissed her forehead, holding the umbrella, and walked with Hannah through the snow.

Hannah had thought that the snow would make people stay indoors.

But to her surprise, there were even more people outside.

Most of them were couples.

Only a few parents had brought their children.

Later, finding it cumbersome to play while holding an umbrella, Hannah bought two hats from a street vendor, a matching set for couples, along with matching scarves and gloves.

Central Square was crowded. Afraid Hannah might get lost, Charles held her hand tightly the whole time.

Charles said, "I've already talked to my parents. We'll get engaged in five days. We'll bring your parents and Oliver over, and our families can meet in advance. Let's see if your parents have any requests."

Hannah had no objections to this. "Sure! I'll call my parents tomorrow and have them book their flights."

Charles said, "If they can't get tickets, I'll have Wyatt arrange for a private jet to bring them over."

Hannah nodded casually in agreement. "Whatever you say, you handle it."

They wandered around for a long time, and Hannah bought a lot of things.

Charles' hands were full, and only then did Hannah stop.
