Chapter 692 Reunion of Spouses

Noticing Robert's intense stare, Thomas raised an eyebrow in surprise. "What's up?"

Before Robert could speak, Carol hurriedly explained, "Thomas, she is Patricia's friend, so we brought her along."

Thomas cast a fleeting glance at Patricia before waving dismissively. "If everything's cool, you should head out."

Grateful for the reprieve, Carol hurriedly said, "Thanks, Thomas. We'll be on our way. You should head back early too."

She grabbed Patricia's hand, practically dragging her out as if they were pursued by unseen predators, with Maximilian and Kaleb respectfully nodding to Thomas before following suit.

Robert couldn't shake the feeling that something was off, though he couldn't quite put his finger on it. His instincts, honed over years of experience, told him his suspicions were warranted.

"Mr. Martinez, about that woman just now..."

Before he could finish, Thomas cut him off with a knowing smile. "What about her? Patricia's friend, right? Here to visit before her execution. Nothing odd there."

Robert felt a wave of confusion. Years of life’s trials had sharpened his insight, allowing him to perceive the subtleties in Thomas's words.

Thomas’s grin widened as he patted Robert's shoulder. "Work hard, and I'm sure you've got a bright future ahead."

The implication was clear—keep quiet. Robert, feeling as if he had stumbled upon a hidden treasure, nodded vigorously. "Thank you for the advice, Mr. Martinez. I understand."

As the silver car maneuvered through the bustling traffic, Patricia sat there, feeling as though she were in a surreal dream. She had escaped the clutches of prison, her name still tarnished, but her life miraculously spared.

The thought of reuniting with Martin made her eyes well up with emotion.

"How's Martin doing? Is he better?"

Carol, behind the wheel with Kaleb and Patricia in the back seat, responded swiftly. Maximilian followed in another car, close behind. "He's doing well. I've been personally preparing his medicine, and his condition has improved significantly."

Patricia turned to Kaleb with gratitude. "Thank you so much! Without your help, Martin wouldn't have come this far, and we wouldn't have been able to reunite."

Kaleb held Patricia's hand, his own shaking with excitement. "There's no need to thank me!"

Though Patricia was grateful for Kaleb's efforts, the tenderness of the gesture felt somewhat improper given their lack of a biological bond. And yet, Kaleb’s grasp remained firm, unwilling to release her hand.

"Kaleb, I..."

Before Patricia could finish her sentence, Kaleb urgently interrupted, "Patricia, I am your biological father, and you are my biological daughter."

Patricia was stunned. "You are my biological father?"

She pondered, 'Wasn't that a mistake? When did this become true?'

Kaleb, brimming with excitement, explained, "Margaret is Elise, Elise is Margaret! Randy told me himself and showed me a photo of Elise with Shane when she was in her teens. I'm certain Elise is Margaret."

Patricia's mind wandered. 'A photo with Shane? The one always placed on the study desk?'

Seeing Patricia's disbelief, Kaleb continued, "When Maximilian conducted the paternity test, he didn't send our samples for testing but directly forged a fake report, making us miss the chance to recognize each other. But you truly are my daughter. Riley said so. Your mother once mentioned her other name to them."

Patricia, hesitant to accept this revelation so quickly, changed the subject. "Where are we going now? To see Martin and Randy?"

Knowing that Patricia didn't fully believe him, Kaleb, though anxious, didn't push further. The misunderstanding between them was too entrenched to be undone by mere words. He put his hope on Sebastian.

"If Olivia keeps facing away from the prison gate, she should be able to avoid detection for a few more days. We'll take this opportunity to get you out quickly! By the time she's discovered, you'll have already escaped Country D. Once you're out of Joe's reach, even if he wants to catch you, he won't have a chance."

Patricia asked, "Where are we going now?"

Kaleb explained, "To the airport! Sebastian, Martin, and Ryan are waiting for you there! Our plan is to meet at the airport and take the Taylor family's private plane if we managed to rescue you."

Just the thought of leaving brought Patricia immense relief.

But then she thought of Martin.

"What about Martin's illness? If we leave here, what will happen to his condition?"

Kaleb reassured her with a smile, "Don't worry, I'll leave with you."

Patricia widened her eyes in surprise. "You're leaving with us?"

Kaleb looked at her with determination. "Yes. His illness is at a critical stage, and it's best not to interrupt the treatment. So, I'll go with you."

Having just found Patricia, Kaleb was unwilling to part with her.

Treating Martin was important, but reuniting with Patricia was even more crucial.

Looking apologetically at Kaleb, Patricia said, "We will definitely repay your kindness when we have the chance."

Kaleb smiled bitterly. Repay? He never sought repayment. The only things he had ever lacked in life were a wife and daughter.

While waiting at a red light, Carol glanced at Patricia through the rearview mirror. "Patricia, I'll come to see you when I have the chance! Take care of yourself."

Touched, Patricia's eyes welled up with tears. She had never expected that, despite having only met Carol once, Carol would be willing to help her.

Half an hour later, Carol parked the car in the airport parking lot. Maximilian's car pulled in behind them.

Martin, Ryan, and Sebastian had been waiting, their eyes scanning the horizon. From afar, Patricia saw Martin at the entrance, tears streaming down her face.

Martin saw Patricia as well, and they ran toward each other, collapsing into a tight embrace.

Martin held Patricia as if afraid she might vanish, his grip tightening with each passing moment. It had only been a month since their separation, yet it felt as though an eternity had slipped by.
