Chapter 716 Ryan Disappears, A Greater Conspiracy Unfolds
The driver wore a black baseball cap pulled low, obscuring most of his face, revealing only his tightly pressed lips.
Ryan asked, "Who are you? What do you want?"
As soon as the words left his mouth, a white smoke suddenly filled the car.
Ryan saw the driver put on a mask and roll down the window.
The white smoke rushed toward Ryan's face.
Ryan sensed the danger instantly, and he quickly covered his mouth and nose with his hand, but it was too late. The drug's effect was swift and potent. Within seconds, Ryan's vision went black, and he passed out.
The driver glanced at Ryan through the rearview mirror, a cold smirk playing on his lips.
Meanwhile, at the Koch family residence, after ending the call, Martin's face grew increasingly grim.Noticing something was wrong, Patricia quickly asked, "What's wrong? Is Ryan having trouble?"
Martin's tone had been off during his conversation with Ryan.
With all that had transpired recently,
Patricia was certain something had gone wrong.
Martin nodded, deep in thought, saying, "There was a fire at the mental hospital at two in the morning. All two hundred people inside were burned to death, not a single survivor."
Upon hearing this, Patricia's face suddenly turned pale. He asked, "Two hundred people dead?"
Although without being at the scene, just imagining sent shivers down her spine.
It could only be described as a scene of carnage.
Suddenly, Patricia remembered something and exclaimed, "Doesn't this seem familiar to you?"
Martin's frowned tightly.
"The mental hospital where Debbie was held also burned down, with no survivors."
Unexpectedly, the same tragedy had occurred again today.
The difference was one happened in Sunset Bay, and the other in Country M.
Patricia asserted, "It must be Hunter. He definitely did this! Back then, he used a trick to help Debbie escape from the mental hospital, had her undergo cosmetic surgery to impersonate me, and return to the Koch family. Now, because of a man who looks exactly like him, over two hundred people had died. He is truly terrifying."
How could there be such a terrifying, ruthless person in the world?
To achieve his goals, he didn't hesitate to kill so many people.
Martin sat on the sofa, hand on his chin, and said in a deep voice, "I'm not surprised he could do such a thing! What scares me is the person behind him. Who is helping him?"
It was clear that this person's abilities surpassed Hunter's.
But who could it be?
Besides Hunter, Martin and his family had no other enemies.
Martin had to find a way to uncover that person.
Patricia, worried, said, "The mental hospital burned down, and we've lost our clues! What do we do now? I fear that person might have perished in the fire."
"If he really is Hunter's twin brother..." Pausing, she continued, "Then Hunter is truly heartless and insane! He even harmed his own brother!"
Not wanting Patricia to worry, Martin reached out and ruffled her hair, saying, "Don't think too much for now! Talk to your father and see if he can find time to counsel Mr. Hill!"
Patricia nodded and replied, "Alright! I will!"
Ever since it was revealed that Hunter was Joe's illegitimate son, Susan had stopped speaking to Joe and had visibly became emaciated.
A once happy family had fallen apart.
Carol had also become much more haggard.
She was listless, with dark circles under her eyes.
Clearly, she hadn't been sleeping well.
Kaleb had been comforting Joe on one side and Susan on the other, running back and forth all day.
The nest day, seeing that they had gained nothing from Hunter and that they were still at the Koch family residence, Joe decided to take Hunter back to Country D for further handling.
When Susan learned of this, she had another big argument with Joe.
In Susan's view, if Joe truly wanted to avenge Billy, he should have dealt with Hunter in Country Y. There was no need to take him back to Country D.
Taking Hunter back meant Joe intended to spare him.
Susan absolutely could not allow the person who harmed Billy to go unpunished.
Een worse,, take Billy's place within the family.
This was something she could never accept.
Carol also argued with Joe over this matter.
Susan and Carol couldn't understand Joe, and Joe was very frustrated.
Despite this, he still decided to take Hunter back to Country D.
The family's dirty laundry shouldn't be aired in public.
No matter how they ultimately dealt with Hunter, it was a matter of the Hill family.
Moreover, they were currently in Country Y, where actions were constrained and had to be carefully considered.
Having made up his mind, Joe began preparing to return to Country D.
Joe's attitude was resolute, and Martin couldn't persuade him otherwise.
Just as Martin was pondering how to keep them from leaving, Patricia received a call from Daisy.
Daisy seemed hesitant, as if she had something to say but didn't know how to start.
Patricia had never seen Daisy like this and couldn't help but ask, "Daisy, is there something you need to tell me? Did something happen to my kids?"
Afraid of being misunderstood, Daisy quickly said, "No! They're fine! I just wanted to ask if you can get in touch with Ryan."
Patricia was taken aback, asking, "What do you mean?"
Daisy, sounding downcast, said, "Yesterday he said he was heading back to Sunset Bay and told me he'd be there by this morning. But now it's already two in the afternoon, and he still hasn't arrived! I can't reach him on the phone either."
Daisy couldn’t help but suspect that Ryan might be playing a disappearing act to get back at her for rejecting his marriage proposal.
However, Ryan had always been good to Daisy.
He always listened to her.
Daisy couldn't believe he would do this to her.
At this moment, Patricia couldn't be bothered to ask why Daisy was so concerned about Ryan. She quickly reassured her, "Don't worry. I'll have Martin try to contact him and get back to you shortly."
"Okay! I'll be waiting for your call," Daisy replied.
After ending the call, Patricia found Martin and told him about Daisy's call. Hearing that Ryan was missing, Martin immediately sensed something was wrong.
Logically, it only took thirteen hours to get from Country M. to Sunset Bay.
By this time, Ryan should have already arrived.
Caught up in the affairs concerning Joe, Martin had forgotten to check in with Ryan about his safe arrival.
A sense of foreboding washed over him.
Martin didn't waste a moment and immediately took out his phone to call Ryan, but it couldn't get through.
Martin checked the time.
It had been almost twenty-four hours since he last spoke with Ryan.
Ryan was not someone who left matters unresolved.
Could it be that something had happened to him?
The sudden thought sent a chill down Martin's spine, and he broke out in a cold sweat.
