Chapter 10

Listening to her son's trembling voice full of worry, Sophia felt like crying. She really felt sorry for her children. Not only did she not give them a complete family, but now she had to make them face all of this.
"Mommy has something to do in Z country. Caroline will take you and Emma to the airport tomorrow..." Sophia quickly instructed Ethan, and he listened attentively, obediently responding.
"Don't worry, Mommy. I will take good care of Emma. See you in Z country."
"Thank you, my baby." Sophia felt much better in her heart.
Her son was like her close-knit little coat, warm and caring.
Sophia didn't dare to talk for too long and quickly hung up the phone, handing it back to the waiter.
The sky outside gradually darkened. This day had been nerve-wracking. She had caught up on sleep during the day, so now Sophia couldn't fall asleep at night.
She opened the door and spoke to the two bodyguards at the door, "Ask Gabriel to come see me, otherwise I will cause a scene."
After saying that, she slammed the door shut, not caring if the two bodyguards heard her or not.
The two guards looked at each other for a moment before deciding to report to Gabriel.
"Let her cause a scene," Gabriel said elegantly as he flipped through some files, not putting Sophia on his mind.
If she hadn't "died" back then, they would have had a peaceful separation, and the three children would have been fine. Sam wouldn't have ended up like that either.
Sophia, she was going to bear the sins she had created.
The guards went back to continue guarding, and after half an hour without seeing Gabriel, Sophia started causing a commotion.
She searched the room for a while, then with a loud crash, she smashed the TV. The guards outside heard the noise and quickly swiped their cards to enter.
Sophia hid by the door, and as soon as they rushed in, she slipped out like an eel.
The guards reacted quickly as well.
"Stop!"
Sophia ran outside, frantically pressing the elevator button. Seeing the guards catching up, and with the elevator still not arriving, she turned and ran towards the emergency stairs.
The two guards relentlessly chased after her. Sophia ran downstairs, having incredibly bad luck. Suddenly, she stepped on air and fell over.
Sophia began to tumbled down. In that moment, she felt like crying desperately.
"Bang!" Sophia's head collided with the wall, abruptly halting her rolling. By the time the bodyguard caught up, she had already fainted.
Gabriel looked at the documents, becoming more and more irritated as he read on. He was about to stand up and find Sophia.
He wanted to see what this woman was up to!
As soon as he opened the door, Alex's knocking hand almost hit Gabriel's head.
"What's the matter?" Gabriel's face darkened, his chilling aura making Alex shiver.
"Madam fainted after falling down the stairs."
Gabriel's expression twitched slightly, his thin lips pressed together without uttering a word, as he walked towards the elevator.
Sophia lay pale on the bed, the blood stains on her forehead standing out starkly against her porcelain skin. Alex had already called the doctor, who was now tending to her wounds.
About ten minutes later, the doctor finished packing up and came out.
"The wound should not be touched with water. If she feels dizzy tomorrow, I recommend going to the hospital for further examination."
"Okay," Gabriel replied calmly, then went inside. Alex escorted the doctor out.
Staring at the woman lying on the bed, Gabriel's eyebrows furrowed tightly.
In his memory, Sophia was a cautious and submissive woman, always fawning over him.
After five years and after her "death," this woman completely changed her character. She dared to confront him and became quite eloquent. Today, she has driven him to the point of dizziness.
Suddenly, Sophia's eyelids twitched and slowly opened.
She looked ahead in confusion, with a blankness in her mind, and then all her memories surged back.
Oh, right, she wanted to see Gabriel, but Gabriel didn't want to see her, so she ran away.
After going through all of this, she also knew that she couldn't temporarily escape from Country M, so she thought of pretending to run away, causing a scene, and maybe Gabriel would see her. But she accidentally stepped on empty space and tumbled down the stairs.
"If you had any ability, you would have killed yourself. I've said it before, no matter where you escape to, I can find you."
Gabriel’s cold voice entered her ears, and Sophia's breathing stagnated for a moment. She turned her head and coldly looked at the tall man standing by the bed.
"You want me dead so badly?"
She didn't know why she blurted out this question, but in that moment, her eyes suddenly felt a little sour.
This was the man she had liked so much in the past, so heartless and ruthless!
Because of him five years ago, she fell into depression. She spent five years healing herself and forgetting him, but she never expected to meet him again.
Clearly, he had wanted to bring her back to his country, but he still despised the fact that she hadn't died.
Listening to her words, Gabriel's eyebrows furrowed even deeper, and he coldly snorted, "Whether you live or die has nothing to do with me, but before you die, it's best to think about those who care about you."
"You already said that my life or death has nothing to do with you, so why do you insist on bringing me back to your country?" With one sentence, she shut Gabriel up.
Gabriel's temples throbbed again, and impatience appeared in his deep eyes. He felt that if he said a few more words to her, it would surely shorten his lifespan.
"If you still have a conscience, behave yourself and come back with me to atone, otherwise... I don't mind tying you up and taking you back."
Before Sophia could say anything else, Gabriel lifted his long legs and walked away.
After Gabriel left, Sophia held onto the blanket and thought for a long time, the only thing that came to mind was Mrs. Lancaster.
Was Gabriel planning to have her go back and apologize to Mrs. Lancaster?
When her family encountered trouble, her mother was forced to commit suicide by the creditors, and then her father couldn't bear it and committed suicide in prison. When she was left all alone and helpless, it was Mrs. Lancaster who brought her to the Lancaster family, fulfilling the betrothal arranged between the two families and organizing her wedding with Gabriel.
Mrs. Lancaster treated her like a granddaughter, considering her in everything, and knowing that she liked Gabriel, she created opportunities for her at every turn.
Unfortunately, in the end, she still couldn't move Gabriel heart.
Madam must be very sad to hear about her "death," and she didn't know how her health had been these past five years.
How are you feeling? Are you still strong and healthy, she wondered.
Sophia stopped causing trouble and the question she wanted to ask seemed less important now. However, she didn't have to wait long for the answer as Alex brought it to her.
"These are the replacement documents, madam. Please bear with it for one more day. Once the boss finishes handling matters here, he will return to the country tomorrow." Alex glanced at Sophia's bandaged forehead.
"I understand, don't worry. I value my life and won't cause any more trouble."
"That's good. I'll go back to work then." Alex was about to leave.
"Wait."
Sophia called him back, and Alex turned around, looking puzzled. "Do you need anything else?"
"How is Madam doing now? Is she in good health?" she asked curiously.
