Chapter 698 Intensified?

The next day, Gabriel wasn't feeling too hot. When Sophia woke up, she noticed his hand resting on her stomach. As she moved it away, she felt his skin and realized he was running a bit of a fever.

With her years of experience taking care of kids, Sophia figured Gabriel might be sick.

She reached out and touched his forehead. Yep, definitely warm.

"Gabriel?" Sophia called his name a few times before he groggily opened his eyes.

"Huh?"

"You've got a fever. Let me grab a thermometer and check your temperature. See if there's anything else going on." Sophia got up, but Gabriel held her back.

"I'm fine. Don't worry about it," Gabriel frowned and sat up.

His head was a little dizzy, but he could handle it.

The real issue was his stomach. When he got up, there was a sharp pain, but it eased after a few seconds.

Sophia insisted, "Let's check your temperature anyway."

She brushed off Gabriel's hand, got out of bed, and found the thermometer. She scanned his forehead.

Then she said, "Just a slight fever."

Gabriel said, "I'm fine. Just have Betty get me some medicine."

A slight fever wasn't a big deal, but it could turn into something worse. Sophia wanted Gabriel to rest at home, but with all the issues at the Lancaster Group, she decided not to push it.

So she just said, "Go wash your face. I'll go downstairs and get you some medicine."

"Okay."

Gabriel watched Sophia leave, then slowly got out of bed, holding his stomach as he headed to the bathroom.

During his last check-up, he was diagnosed with a severe gastric ulcer, with a slight risk of cancer, and he needed to get treatment ASAP.

But he didn't have time now. The company was in crisis, and he couldn't be sure if potential enemies would threaten his family.

He couldn't afford to relax.

So Gabriel had to tough it out and couldn't tell Ruth and Sophia for now.

After washing up, Gabriel came out to find Sophia bringing in a cup of warm water and medicine. He obediently took a pill and drank half a cup of warm water.

"Rest a bit more and go to the office later today," Sophia said with concern.

Gabriel held her hand, rubbing the back of it.

Being cared for by his beloved Sophia made him incredibly happy.

He said, "Alright, I'll go to the office later today."

Sophia looked satisfied with his response.

Gabriel stayed home and had breakfast with the kids. Before he left, Sophia checked his temperature again, and it was normal this time, so she felt relieved to let him go to the office.

Ruth watched Sophia and Gabriel's relationship develop rapidly, and she was thrilled.

Ruth said with a smile, "Betty, did you see that? Our family is about to have some good news."

Betty was puzzled, "Ruth, isn't it a bit too soon?"

Ruth said, "You don't understand. Sophie has always loved Gabriel, and now even more so. Gabriel has also fallen for Sophie. They'll definitely remarry soon."

She added, "The second wedding must be grander than the first. I want to invite everyone related to the Lancaster family to the wedding. This time, we can't let them secretly get married. It has to be high-profile."

Ruth was excited while talking about Sophia and Gabriel remarrying, as if she were six years younger.

Gabriel received a call from Harrison in the car.

Harrison's teasing voice came through, "How was your passionate night? Feeling happy?"

His tone even had a hint of jealousy.

"What's up?" Gabriel didn't bother with the teasing.

Harrison said, "Gabriel, I'm busting my butt abroad, and you've got your wife and kids right there with you!"

Gabriel frowned, his voice impatient, "Get to the point!"

Harrison said, "Keith's wife and kid are safe now. I've arranged a private jet to bring them back. Keith's son has also dropped out of school. The only thing we found out is that the person who hit Keith's son with a car seems to have ties to Owen."

Owen? Again?

Gabriel said, "Thanks. Keep digging over there."

Harrison, hearing this, said in a strange tone, "Gabriel, what's the matter with you?"

"What?"

"You rarely say 'thank you' to me."

Gabriel said, "Get lost!"

Harrison laughed, "That's more like it. Later!"

Gabriel rubbed his temples. Once he got to the office, he dove into work.

Today, Clara didn't show up; instead, her father, Oliver Taylor, came. Oliver talked with Gabriel for over an hour. They finally agreed that Oliver would provide financial support, and Gabriel would give Oliver certain benefits, making it a win-win situation.

As he was leaving, Oliver apologized, "Clara offended you yesterday. Please forgive her. She was actually acting on Ruth's request."

"What?" Gabriel didn't get it at first.

Yesterday, the Lancaster Group specifically called to let Clara take over this matter. Oliver only found out what Clara had done then. He was worried Gabriel would be angry and cancel the cooperation, so he wanted to explain clearly.

After listening to Oliver, Gabriel finally understood Ruth's good intentions.

Gabriel smiled, "It's okay. In that case, I should thank Miss Taylor."

Oliver said, "No need. As long as Clara didn't cause you any trouble."

Oliver picked up his briefcase, "I'll head back to the bank now."

"Okay."

As soon as Oliver left, Alex rushed in, looking anxious. "Mr. Lancaster!"

Gabriel glanced at him, "What's up?"

Alex said, "The hospital just called and asked you to go for treatment as soon as possible. The longer you delay, the worse it will be for your condition. Mr. Lancaster, you should go to the hospital immediately."

He had just received the call and found out Gabriel was sick, and it was quite serious.

Gabriel had been staying up late these past few days, which must have worsened his condition.

Sophia had even called him this morning to tell him that Gabriel had a low fever and reminded him to make sure Gabriel rested.

Gabriel calmly picked up the documents on the table, looking as aloof as ever, as if he weren't the one who was sick.

Gabriel calmly said, "I can't go to the hospital for treatment now. Alex, you're my assistant. You should understand the current situation, so I need you to keep this confidential."

Alex asked, "Not even Miss Kelly and Mrs. Lancaster?"

He answered, "No need to let them know for now."

Alex bit his lip, "Alright, I'll have the hospital prescribe some medicine to at least control your condition."

"Okay."

Alex went to the hospital to learn about Gabriel's situation. The doctor still recommended that he should be hospitalized.

Alex had the doctor prescribe the best medicine and noted some precautions.

At noon, Sophia came to bring lunch to Gabriel again.

This time, she successfully saw Gabriel.

Gabriel seemed to be waiting for her in the office. He smiled as soon as he saw her.
