Chapter 328 Taken Away on the Spot
The three kids heard they were going back to live with Gabriel, and they were all nervous.
They didn't want to be unable to see Sophia like before.
Emma jumped off the chair and hugged Sophia.
"I don't want to leave Mommy."
Ethan added, "Me neither."
Sam also nodded, indicating he didn't want to leave.
Sophia touched Emma's furry little head and comforted softly, "This time, I promise to visit you every day, and I'll bring you over on weekends."
Emma sniffled, her voice muffled. "I don't want to."
Ruth watched this scene, and an idea popped into her mind.
Sophia had decided to sell the house to help Caroline through this challenging time.
Houses and cars weren't important; they could earn them back later, but once people were gone, they were truly gone.
Although Sophia was quite reluctant, after all, it was her first house after returning to the country.
Sophia quickly contacted the real estate agent to list the house for sale online and also looked for a suitable rental place.
The national fashion competition finals began.
Sophia was not well-prepared this time, but she had to tough it out.
Before the competition, Jennifer didn't meet privately with the contestants to avoid gossip. She had been in City B for two days, so she was not disturbing Sophia for now.
But she kept urging Colin to ask Sophia out more.
Colin always felt something was off. Was Jennifer being overly enthusiastic about him asking Sophia out?
On the day of the competition, David personally drove Jennifer over.
"I'm going to meet an old friend. I'll come pick you up after you're done."
Jennifer nodded. "Got it."
Once back in the country, David seemed to go see old friends every day, never taking her out for a stroll.
Old men were really dull!
Just before entering the competition venue, Sophia, having drunk too much water, thought of using the restroom before going in. Otherwise, if she needed to go during the competition, it would be troublesome to come out midway.
Just as Sophia finished, a bucket of water suddenly splashed down on her from above.
She was caught off guard and drenched from head to toe.
"Who?" Sophia quickly pushed open the restroom door.
But she only saw a woman's figure quickly running out.
Sophia wiped her face. To look a bit more presentable, she had put on light makeup today.
Now, with water splashed on her, not only was her makeup a mess, but it definitely didn't look good.
Her clothes were also half-wet.
Sophia muttered a curse.
The loudspeaker outside urged the contestants to enter.
Sophia looked at herself, all wet.
Did she have to go to the competition in such a sorry state?
Apart from the risk of being ridiculed, with the competition lasting so long, if she waited until it was over to change clothes, she would definitely catch a cold.
Just as Sophia was at a loss, Margaret hurriedly appeared.
"Sophia, what happened to you?"
If Sophia appeared in front of the judges like this, it would definitely lower her personal image score.
Margaret's face changed.
"We have similar body types. You wear my clothes and go in for the competition first."
"What about you?"
"Don't worry about me. The competition is important. Hurry up."
They exchanged clothes in the restroom, and once Sophia changed, she rushed into the competition venue.
Wearing Sophia's wet clothes, Margaret took out her phone and called Gabriel to report the situation.
It was Gabriel who had asked her to accompany Sophia today.
Unexpectedly, Gabriel was so concerned about this competition that he specifically had Margaret keep an eye on things.
It was fortunate that Margaret was there.
There were colleagues at this final competition sitting in the audience seats, and all the contestants were present.
The competition required transforming a pile of rags into a stylish and innovative outfit.
It also needed to have a unique design.
"Why hasn't one contestant arrived yet?" someone in the judges' panel asked,
Jennifer noticed Sophia was missing.
Hadn't she shown up?
The time was up.
"Let's not wait any longer; let's begin."
At that moment, the door was pushed open, and Sophia walked in apologetically.
"Sorry for being late," she said,
Everyone looked at her.
Jennifer breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Hurry, take your seat."
Luckily, Sophia made it in time.
If she had been half an hour late, Sophia would have been disqualified on the spot.
Jennifer was quite looking forward to seeing if Sophia would make something unique.
The competition began.
In the audience seats, Gabriel sat next to Randall.
His eyes followed Sophia, and his lips moved slowly.
"You've had your qualifications canceled for nearly half a year, yet you still have the mood to watch the competition. You have a good attitude," Gabriel said,
Randall's tightly clenched fist relaxed as he abruptly turned his head, concealing his malevolent gaze upon seeing Gabriel.
"Does Mr. Lancaster have the time to attend the competition? By the way, have any designers from the Lancaster Group made it to the finals?"
Gabriel responded evasively, leisurely uttering a few names. "Evelyn, Amelia, Harper..."
Gabriel's casual response made Randall's heart skip a beat each time he mentioned a name.
He stared fixedly at Gabriel's indifferent profile.
"What are you trying to say?"
Gabriel replied casually, "You must know these people, right?"
"I don't know them!" Randall denied it immediately.
"Not knowing is okay. I have some information that can help you remember."
Randall's phone rang, and when he checked it, his face changed drastically.
"You!"
Randall stood up excitedly.
Their seats were quite forward, offering the best view. When Randall stood up, he directly blocked the view of the rows behind him.
People were not pleased with Randall.
"Sit down in front; you're blocking our view."
Randall cursed inwardly, gritted his teeth, and sat back down.
"What do you want?" he asked,
Gabriel clasped his hands together, sitting with a straight back, his tone light but his words chilling.
"You've messed with the wrong person, so..."
At that moment, the door was pushed open again, and two police officers walked in, forcing the competition to halt.
The organizers hurried over to inquire.
Randall, sitting in the audience seats, suddenly had a foreboding feeling.
"Who's Randall?" the police asked,
Many people in the circle knew Randall.
Soon, Randall was exposed.
He wanted to escape but couldn't.
He was taken away on the spot, leaving everyone bewildered, not knowing what crime Randall had committed.
How come Randall was taken away?
Sophia curiously turned her head to look at the audience seats, and she unexpectedly met Gabriel's deep and captivating eyes.
Why was he here, too?
Gabriel blinked at her.
Sophia was taken aback, quickly averting her gaze.
"Everyone, let the competition continue!"
Sophia refocused on the competition, earnestly sketching her design.
They had to finish within the stipulated time.
The designers who made it to the finals this time were all quite talented.
This competition could be wonderful.
"Mr. Lancaster, after investigating, it was found that Randall bribed a staff member to pour water on Sophia in the restroom."
Margaret was on the phone outside, having bought a new set of clothes from a nearby mall to change into.
