Chapter 316 Another Blow

Patricia held a bowl and said, "Mrs. Blackwood, Jennifer, this is the tomato soup I cooked myself."

Mrs. Blackwood pulled Patricia close with concern, asking, "Why did you do this yourself again?"

Patricia replied, "I was bored, and I like to cook for Mrs. Blackwood and Jennifer."

Patricia's actions pleased Mrs. Blackwood and Jennifer.

The sound from downstairs made Patricia excited and she bounced down happily.

"Uncle is back, " Patricia said and ran downstairs.

"Uncle," she called out with a sweet voice.

David Blackwood is a serious man, whether at home or outside, he always carries a serious and imposing demeanor.

Patricia was actually a little afraid of David, but she acted unafraid and even tried to please him.

Patricia brought slippers for David.

She asked him, "Why did Uncle come back so early today?"

David didn't answer but asked back, "Where is your aunt?"

Patricia replied, "She's tidying up in the room."

David changed his shoes and went upstairs to find his wife.

Seeing Mrs. Blackwood there too, David directly said, "Pack my luggage too, I'm going to B City with you."

Jennifer looked surprised at David and asked, "What are you going to do?"

David mentioned, "There's some news about the ancestral land, I need to go back to negotiate and see if we can buy it back."

Upon hearing this, Mrs. Blackwood was a bit excited.

Mrs. Blackwood insisted, "David, you must buy back that land, your father always talked about it before he passed away, that place is the foundation of our Blackwood family."

Almost all of the Blackwood family's properties were confiscated back then, and after several transfers, even the ancestral home of the Blackwood family was not known to be under whose name.

David's father's biggest regret before he passed away was not being able to be buried in his hometown. In the past two years, David has been in frequent contact with friends who have returned to the country and finally got some information.

"Great, once the ancestral home is bought back, Mrs. Blackwood can return to her hometown in the future," Patricia happily interjected.

Her words made the three of them a bit awkward. Why did she say Mrs. Blackwood can return to her hometown once the ancestral home is bought back? Mrs. Blackwood can already go back to her hometown now.

But Patricia didn't realize she had said something wrong. She affectionately hugged Mrs. Blackwood's arm and acted coquettishly.

Patricia asked innocently, "In the future, will Mrs. Blackwood and Uncle and Aunt all go back to live in the country?"

Mrs. Blackwood ignored what Patricia had just said and lovingly patted her head.

Mrs. Blackwood replied, "Yes."

"That's great, I still prefer B City. I'm not familiar here and always get bullied," Patricia pouted.

Mrs. Blackwood claimed, "No one dares to bully you, Grandma will help you get revenge."

Patricia stated, "It's that Anna, she always bullies me."

Mrs. Blackwood gently comforted her, and said, "Next time, don't pay attention to her, I'll have David warn her family."

Patricia obediently said, "Okay."

David frowned from the side.

After Patricia left with Mrs. Blackwood, David said to his wife, "Find a job for Patricia for a while."

Jennifer was surprised and asked, "Why suddenly find her a job?"

David told her, "The butler told me yesterday that Patricia gets angry with them at home and the butler is about to resign."

Jennifer also frowned.

I don't know how the Brown family taught Patricia, she was taught to be so vain and arrogant, unlike the members of the Blackwood family at all.

David said, "This time back to the country, I also want to learn about Susan's situation from the Brown family."

Last time, David wanted to go back with his mother to pay respects to Susan, but something came up and they didn't have time.

"Let's also meet Colin's girlfriend this time," Jennifer agreed with a nod.

Colin didn't know about his parents' plans. He looked at the progress of the new house, which was already halfway done.

It was almost time, so he went to Sophia's house for dinner.

Sophia's physical condition had recovered well. After being discharged, she was in high spirits, playing with the children, and very happy.

The competition was approaching, and although time was short, Sophia was still working hard to prepare.

At the Lancaster family, looking at the empty and silent house, Mrs. Lancaster sighed.

Mrs. Lancaster instructed, "Sarah, pack your bags."

Sarah asked, "Madam, are you going on a trip?"

Mrs. Lancaster declared, "I'm going to Sophia's house."

Sarah said in shock, "What?"

In the bar, it wasn't yet peak hours, so there weren't many people. The boss looked at booth number 8 and ordered a dozen expensive bottles of wine, calculating today's profit in his mind.

In booth number 8, Harrison snatched the bottle from Gabriel's hand in a fit of anger.

Harrison questioned, "What's the use of drinking here."

Unexpectedly, the usually arrogant Gabriel also had times of emotional distress.

He replied, "I don't know what to do." Gabriel's eyes were bloodshot, he picked up another bottle of wine from the table and took a big sip.

Harrison said mockingly, "If you like her, go pursue her. Neither you nor Sophia are dating anyone else now, there's a good chance of success between you two."

Gabriel assumed, "The children hate me now, and Sophia hates me too, I don't know what to do."

Gabriel had never been so confused about a multi-billion project negotiation, but in matters of the heart, he was truly clueless.

Gabriel didn't realize that he had actually fallen for Sophia long ago.

Gabriel always thought that his whole heart should belong to the girl who saved him—Tiffany.

But after being with Tiffany, he always felt it shouldn't be like this.

Now Gabriel finally realized what was wrong.

He actually didn't like Tiffany, he just stubbornly remembered the promise he made to Tiffany after she saved him.

"The things you've done, if it were me, I would hate you too," Harrison mocked him again.

Gabriel picked up the bottle and continued drinking.

Harrison glanced at him.

After finishing the bottle, Gabriel suddenly stood up.

"Where are you going?" Harrison asked as he grabbed the car keys and followed Gabriel.

Once in the car, Gabriel slumped in the back seat, rubbing his forehead in discomfort.

Gabriel said, "To Blue End."

Did Gabriel buy a house there?

Harrison drove to Blue End, and Gabriel immediately got out of the car and walked directly to the building where Sophia lived, with Harrison worriedly following.

At the entrance, Gabriel stood still, hesitating to ring the doorbell.

Gabriel was afraid that Sophia didn't want to see him.

Laughter and joy seemed to be coming from inside the house, giving a warm and lively feeling.

Gabriel used to dislike such noisy atmospheres, but now he seemed to long for it a bit.

The sound of children playing and laughing reached Gabriel's ears, and he raised his hand to ring the doorbell.

Soon, someone came to open the door.

It was Colin.

Colin smiled, and asked, "Mr. Lancaster, are you here to see the children?"

Gabriel nodded.

Colin said, "Sophia is cooking, let me ask her."

Gabriel replied, "Thank you."

Colin opened the door halfway, then went back to ask Sophia. Gabriel glanced inside and saw three children playing with blocks on the floor.

After a while, Colin came out with a hint of apology.

Colin informed him, "Sophia said she doesn't want to see you. If you want to see the children, please come back tomorrow."

Gabriel looked disappointed.

The door closed, and Harrison patted Gabriel's shoulder.

Harrison said encouragingly, "Let's go, come back tomorrow."
