Chapter 107: The Unfortunate Encounter

Ethan looked up and his heart started racing. Oh no! It was Dad's assistant! Will he be recognized?

Ethan immediately lowered his head, but Alex also saw his face and stared at him in surprise. "You..."

This child gave him a strangely familiar feeling, and he... he looked too much like the boss. But he had seen the boss's son before, and he didn't look like this.

Ethan turned and started walking away. Alex wanted to get another look at his face, so he grabbed the back of his clothes in a hurry.

"Kid, aren't you going to buy it?"

Ethan's heart skipped a beat, he was scared. He shouted loudly, "Human trafficker! Catch the human trafficker!"

The supermarket was bustling with people. How could there be a human trafficker?

"What's going on? Young man, is this your child?"

Everyone immediately looked over, their righteous anger filled their questioning stares.

Alex quickly let go. This child was quite alert. He just wanted to get a better look at his face.

"No, no, it's a misunderstanding. He wanted to buy fruits, and I was just helping him choose."

Alex felt like if he said the wrong thing, he would be taken to the police station. He gulped nervously.

"He's lying! He just tried to trick me with an apple and wouldn't let go of my clothes. He's a human trafficker trying to kidnap me!" Ethan cried out.

The poor child tugged at everyone's heartstrings. An auntie rushed forward and shielded the little guy behind her, accusing Alex with an angry face.

"I never expected a person who looked so normal to be a human trafficker. Quickly take him to the police station. We can't let any human traffickers go, or there will be more families losing their children. Don't you all want to protect your own children?"

The auntie's final words were moving, and the tall men rushed forward and quickly restrained Alex.

At this point, they preferred to make a mistake rather than let one go.

Ethan hid behind the auntie, quietly peeping out, his face not showing any tears but rather a mischievous smile.

Hmph, the ones who work for the bad guy are also bad guys.

"Ethan." Vincent pushed the shopping cart with Emma sitting in it, walking over.

"Daddy, someone tried to kidnap me."

Ethan was worried about Emma getting exposed, so he ran over and hugged Vincent, shouting, "Daddy!"

"What? Are you okay?" Vincent was so scared that he immediately picked Ethan up.

"I'm fine. The human trafficker has been apprehended by those uncles who came to the rescue."

Vincent looked toward Alex and only saw a well-dressed man being escorted to the police station by a few men.

These days, even human traffickers dress so elegantly?

The crowd was too busy and couldn't listen to Alex's explanation. Alex vaguely saw the child leaning against a man's chest. Was that his father?

Alex felt like he had found a lifesaver and was about to shout, but someone stuffed an apple into his mouth.

Alex: ...

Today I didn't check the almanac before going out, what a mistake!

Vincent, fearing that something might happen to the two children, quickly paid and left, while Alex, on the other hand, was taken by someone to the nearby police station in the area. He presented his ID card and business card, but some people still believed he was fake.

"How could a senior executive of the Lancaster Group be involved in child trafficking? I must be impersonating someone," Alex said helplessly.

"Well, then, how do you suggest you prove yourself?"

"Unless the CEO of Lancaster comes in person."

Alex: ...

Why does his luck have to be so bad?

The police reviewed the surveillance footage, and Alex explained once again. Based on all the evidence, the police eventually believed that Alex was innocent. After all, they had plenty of experience in handling cases and could easily distinguish whether he was a human trafficker or not. However, the general public still didn't believe it and continued to make a ruckus at the police station, just like in a market.

To reassure the public, Alex had no choice but to call Gabriel.

"Boss, help me..."

Finally, Lancaster's legal counsel came to rescue him.

After this experience, Alex was still shaken. "I won't help others with good intentions anymore."

It seemed as if he had been bitten by a snake and was now afraid of ropes for ten years. The legal counsel sympathetically glanced at him and said, "It's right for children to be cautious. If they encounter real human traffickers, the consequences would be much worse for them."

Thinking from this perspective, Alex could understand.

As Gabriel's assistant, he had stood firm for many years, and his psychological resilience was top-notch. Straightening out his wrinkled suit jacket, Alex regained his elite demeanor.

"Come on, let me treat you to dinner while I vent about my damn misfortune."

He didn't want to listen; he was busy.

All the way, Alex pondered about that child, and when they arrived at the restaurant, he finally remembered.

That child was the one he saw in country M!

At that time, he even suspected that the child was Boss's illegitimate child left behind in country M.

Last time, the child ran away without saying a word, and this time, although he didn't run away, he still caused enough trouble for Alex.

Alex shuddered at the thought and resolved to stay away from him if they ever met again!

Vincent returned home with the two children, and Ethan had already forgotten about what happened at the supermarket. The two little ones were busy at home.

Around 6:30 pm, just before Sophia was about to arrive home, the three of them hid.

It was already dark, and the lights in the house were off. When Sophia opened the door, she froze for a moment.

Could the two children still be with Vincent?

Sophia planned to put her luggage down and then go find the kids.

As she walked into the entrance hall, the motion sensor light was triggered.

"Bang, bang..."

Two firecracker sounds, countless ribbons fell down, and Sophia was dumbfounded.

Two little treasures jumped out from the darkness.

"Welcome home, Mommy."

A surprised smile appeared on Sophia's lips as she hugged the two little treasures.

"Mommy missed you so much."

"We missed you too, Mommy."

They each gave her a kiss, and at that moment, Vincent stepped forward.

"Come inside, dinner is ready."

Sophia smiled and walked inside, feeling a sense of warmth and joy.

Her heart felt incredibly warm, and having two little treasures at home was her greatest happiness.

When she returned from outside, there was a steaming hot meal waiting for her, how wonderful.

Sophia washed her hands and came out, looking at the table full of dishes.

"Vincent, weren’t you at work today?"

It must have taken the whole afternoon to prepare this table of food.

"I'm on vacation."

"Mama, this is what I made." Emma handed the freshly heated milk to her mommy.

"And this is what I made." Ethan then placed the fruit salad in front of mommy.

"Thank you, my darlings."

Vincent indulgently looked at the trio, his heart filled with contentment. This was the feeling of home, warm and romantic.

It was also the home he desired.

Vincent's heart was itching.

Tonight, he would confess his feelings to Sophia. He didn't want to hide his emotions anymore.

He wanted to take a step further with Sophia.

The two little treasures gathered around mommy, recounting all the funny things that happened between them during her absence.

However, Ethan and Emma kept their visit to Sam's house a secret.

"Mama, we also bought a cake." Shortly after dinner, Emma couldn't wait to take the cake out of the refrigerator.
