Chapter 90 Pretending to be a Good Person
Sam was worried that his father and Aunt Kelly would argue, thinking about how to prevent it. But instead, Aunt Kelly returned and took his hand to leave.
Sophia got into the backseat with Sam, while Gabriel drove with a serious expression.
After driving for about ten minutes, Sophia noticed that something was wrong with the route. It seemed like they weren't heading back to her house. They were supposed to turn left at the last intersection, but Gabriel turned right instead.
"Where are you taking me?" Sophia asked, feeling extremely cautious.
Gabriel didn't respond to her.
Sam took the initiative to hold Sophia's hand, his eyes silently comforting her, assuring her that his father wasn't a bad person and that she didn't need to be afraid.
Her son was so sweet. Sophia held onto his hand even tighter.
After another ten minutes or so, the car arrived at a hospital.
"Why are we here? Is Sam injured?" Sophia asked, unaware of the situation.
Sophia checked with Sam again, and he gently shook his head, indicating that he wasn't the one injured. He was also worried. Could it be that his father was injured?
Gabriel remained silent. After getting out of the car, he came over and lifted Sam out of the car first.
"Get out of the car," he commanded with a deep voice.
Sophia got out reluctantly and complained, "How strange."
She wanted to just leave. There were still two kids waiting for her at home.
"If you want to have lasting effects, then go ahead and leave," Gabriel retorted.
"Gabriel, you're the one with lasting effects. Why did you bring me to the hospital for no reason?" Sophia was growing impatient.
He said nothing, and she couldn't guess his intentions.
She truly despised his indifferent demeanor.
Gabriel's face grew increasingly gloomy. He shouldn't have interfered!
Since they were already here, doing nothing seemed unsatisfactory as well.
He decided to hold Sam with one hand and pull Sophia with the other as they headed towards the emergency department.
In the late evening, only the emergency department and inpatient sections had doctors on duty. Sophia wanted to resist, but it caused pain in her back, and suddenly, a thought flashed through her mind.
Could it be that he deliberately brought her to the hospital to have her back injury examined?
Tsk, pretending to be a good person. It was because of him that her back was injured.
When they arrived at the emergency department to register, Gabriel asked the doctor to examine her back.
Since they were already here, Sophia didn't want to delay any further and decided to take a look.
To her surprise, the sight of her back shocked her. It was covered in horrifying bruises and swelling, which explained why she was in so much pain.
Gabriel didn't accompany her inside but waited outside with Sam. However, they could still hear the doctor's words through the curtain.
"You have too much internal bleeding. We need to drain it."
Hearing the bloody sound of it, it must be serious!
Gabriel regretted his excessive force; he acted too hastily.
Sam didn't quite understand why Aunt Sophia was injured, but he was deeply worried about her, even though everything was still unclear in his young mind.
"Doctor, how long will the drainage take?" Sophia's voice came through.
She seemed reluctant to undergo treatment.
"About half an hour," the doctor replied.
"Okay, then please do it as quickly as possible. I need to hurry home."
Do you really need to rush home like this, neglecting your health?
Do you not understand the concept of taking your time to do something carefully?
Gabriel really wanted to go in and scold Sophia.
The doctor prepared the tools and started working inside. Soon, Gabriel smelled a faint metallic scent and heard Sophia stifling her moans.
This woman can endure a lot.
Sam nervously clung to his father's clothes.
Aunt Sophia seems like she's in pain.
Well, she's having blood drawn, so it must hurt.
If Ethan and Emma knew their mommy was hurt, they would be very worried, right?
"Ah, it hurts," Sophia couldn't help but groan in pain.
Suddenly, Sam let go of his father's clothes. He wanted to go in and comfort Aunt Sophia, but his father grabbed him and took him outside instead.
"Aunt Sophia doesn't want you to go in," Gabriel said.
Gabriel was right. How could she let the kids see such a bloody scene? They would be scared.
"Alright, be careful not to get it wet. Come back tomorrow for a dressing change."
Sophia felt a numbing sensation on her back. When she came out, she didn't see Gabriel and Sam. Thinking they had left, she felt a slight sense of loss. She held the bill and prepared to go pay, but when she walked out, she saw the father and son sitting outside.
"Sam," Sophia's eyes were fixed on Sam.
Gabriel took the bill from her hands.
"I'll go pay and get the medication. You wait for me in the parking lot with Sam."
After speaking, he quickly walked away, striding with long steps.
Sophia was briefly stunned, feeling a strange sensation in her heart.
Has Gabriel suddenly had a change of heart?
Well, she would rather believe that he has seen a ghost.
Sophia didn't fuss either. It was nice to have someone run errands and pay for her medical expenses, especially since it was this person who caused her to suffer in the first place. She held Sam's hand and slowly walked towards the parking lot.
Gabriel took out the medication and tossed it to Sophia without saying a word.
Then, he drove her to Flora Garden in silence.
Sam was surprised to see Aunt Sophia getting out of the car at Flora Garden. Wasn't she supposed to live in the neighboring community?
As soon as Sophia got out of the car, Gabriel started the engine and drove away.
By the time Sophia returned, both of her precious babies were already asleep. She quietly lay down beside them, enduring the pain. Just as she settled in, Ethan opened his sleepy eyes.
"Mama."
"Yeah? Go to sleep, Mama's here," Sophia restrained her expression of pain, afraid to let Ethan catch on.
Ethan's voice was sleepy and hoarse.
"There's a bad woman around Sam. I saw her bullying him today."
Sophia's expression froze. "How was she bullying him?"
Ethan thought for a moment, but since Sam didn't want him to say, he decided not to tell the truth. This way, he wouldn't be breaking his promise.
"She was scolding Sam, saying that he wasn't wanted.
"Mummy, I'm an unwanted wild child," Ethan said. The bad woman he was talking about must be Tiffany! Despite pretending to be good to Sam in front of everyone, Tiffany treated him this way behind his back, as if Sophia didn't exist. "Mummy knows now, and she will pay more attention to Sam and protect him," Ethan nodded, then closed his eyes and went back to sleep.
Sophia couldn't sleep after hearing Ethan's words, every time she closed her eyes, she saw scenes of Tiffany mistreating Sam. She wished she had the power to instantly appear in front of Sam, take him away, and find a place where nobody could find them, and raise the three children properly.
If only she had been there at that time, she would have exposed Tiffany's true face on the spot. It seemed necessary for her to find a way to deal with Tiffany. If she could prove that Tiffany treated Sam badly, it might be useful for her custody battle.
Sophia didn't fall asleep until the middle of the night. The next day, there was a seemingly insignificant news circulating on the internet. Ethan was having breakfast while casually browsing the news on his iPad when he stumbled upon a piece of news that surprised him.
The amusement park where Sam was locked up yesterday had closed down! How could a profitable amusement park suddenly go out of business? Could it be the work of his wicked dad? Ethan did some further investigation and finally found some clues. It turned out that his wicked dad was indeed involved! "Ethan, it's time to go to school," Sophia reminded him.
Ethan immediately put down his iPad and smiled brightly at his mama, saying, "Mummy, Emma hasn't woken up yet." Sophia sighed helplessly, Emma's tendency to sleep in was getting worse and worse.
