Chapter 565 A Joke
At that moment, Sharpe felt the cold grip of death, and he quickly held his breath, his hands shaking on the steering wheel.
Nicholas had never shown such a terrifying vibe, not even when he was super pissed.
But hearing that Caroline was almost beaten to death by Daisy, Nicholas must've wanted to end Daisy right then and there.
Caroline also felt the scary aura coming off Nicholas. Her eyes were wet, but they still shone brightly in the dim light.
Nicholas turned his head and met her gaze, instantly softening his demeanor.
He reached out and pulled her into his arms.
"It's okay now. As long as I'm here, I won't let anyone hurt you. I will never let anyone bully you."
His voice wavered, thick with unspoken emotion, and a tightness gripped his chest.
At that time, he just wasn't by her side.
He even believed Daisy's lies and hated Caroline for so many years.
Nicholas felt both guilty and heartbroken for Caroline.
Caroline obediently leaned into his arms.
She closed her eyes, feeling a bit nostalgic.
Caroline mused, 'How long has it been since I leaned into his arms like this? Seems like forever, or maybe even a century.'
At The Wolf Villa, Daisy was crying in her room, her eyes swollen, hair messy, and clothes wrinkled.
At this moment, she looked like a madwoman.
Mia was so anxious that her mouth was dry from comforting and talking.
"Mom, I really did go into Nicholas's room that night." Daisy herself didn't know why and wondered, 'I clearly had sex with Nicholas, so why isn't the kid his?'
She suddenly looked up. "Caroline must have switched the paternity test results. Nicholas was tricked!"
Mia also wanted to believe that Nicholas was deceived.
But in such matters, they could just do another paternity test to find the truth.
Nicholas had no reason to use a fake one to fool them.
Moreover, Aragorn would likely do another test.
The only thing Mia wanted to know now was who Trevor's real dad was!
However, Daisy had no clue.
"Didn't you see the guy's face that night?"
Daisy shook her head. "Nicholas's room was too dark. With the lights off, I could only feel my way around."
The person she felt was Nicholas. 'Wait...'
Daisy carefully recalled that night, 'That guy had such a strong build, while Nicholas is slender.'
At the time, she thought Nicholas just looked slender in clothes. Now she realized that guy probably wasn't Nicholas at all.
Daisy wondered, 'If it isn't Nicholas, then who could it be? Who else could it be?'
Suddenly, Charles's tall and burly figure popped into Daisy's mind.
She widened her eyes in shock and cursed silently in her mind, 'No! It couldn't be him! It absolutely couldn't be him! Charles? He was just a nobody. It couldn't be him!'
Daisy tried to comfort herself.
Noticing her expression change, Mia guessed that she might have remembered something.
"Well? Did you remember anything?"
Daisy shook her head. "No, Mom, please stop pushing me. I really don't know who it is. What should I do now? Will the Watsons still want me? What about Trevor?"
She hugged Mia and started crying again.
Daisy's cries tore at Mia's heart, each sob a painful pang. This matter was quite tricky.
Mia pondered, 'It is impossible for Nicholas to be Trevor's father.'
And since Trevor ain't a Watson, what the heck are we supposed to do with him?'
This whole mess was giving Mia a massive headache.
She also felt more jealous and resentful of Linda's cushy, easy life.
The next day, Linda brought Diana to visit Daisy. Daisy was lying in bed, looking pale, and Mia looked exhausted. It was clear they hadn't slept all night.
Linda sighed, "No matter who Trevor's dad is, he's still your kid and one of our Wolfs. From now on, he's part of our family."
Mia sneered inwardly, 'Linda really has no shame in her words.'
'Daisy had a kid with some random dude. How could she marry Nicholas in the future? Even if not the Watsons, which other rich family would accept her?' Mia thought.
Mia was about to speak when she noticed the ruby necklace around Linda's neck.
If she remembered right, this necklace was cut from a priceless stone last month, part of a set that included a bracelet and two pairs of earrings.
Mia felt a pang in her heart, pangs of comparison twisting within her.
Linda wore jewelry worth millions daily, while Mia could only wear such expensive pieces on big occasions.
Her most valuable piece of jewelry couldn't compare to Linda's casual wear.
Looking at Linda's well-maintained face and slim figure, her dress perfectly showed off every curve.
If someone saw Mia and Linda together, they might think Mia was the older sister.
But Linda was actually older than her.
The more Mia thought about it, the more unbalanced she felt.
Mia mused, 'Why does Linda get to live such a chill and comfy life? Her husband is awesome, they have a loving relationship, and she has a daughter like Diana by her side. And me? Michael betrayed me, neglected the family, Daisy is abandoned, and her kid is an illegitimate one.'
Jealousy grew wildly in Mia's heart.
She wanted to tear apart Linda's perfect life. If she couldn't be happy, neither could Linda!
Mia screamed in her heart, "Linda, I will make you live in regret forever!"
Linda didn't notice Mia's strange expression. Her attention was entirely on Daisy. Finding Daisy in a bad state, she tried to comfort her.
Holding her hand, Linda spoke earnestly, "You're not well now. Rest at home and take care of yourself. As for Trevor, I'll find some good nannies to take care of him. You don't need to worry."
Daisy felt this was what a mother should be like, comforting and helping her in her toughest times, not constantly questioning who Trevor's dad was.
Choking up, she leaned into Linda's arms.
Linda sighed and gently patted her shoulder.
"Don't be sad. Take care of yourself. I'll have someone send you some supplements later."
"Okay, thank you, Aunt Linda."
Half an hour later, Linda was about to leave, with Diana holding her hand.
"Linda," Mia called out.
"Is there something else?" Linda stopped.
Mia forced a smile. "I'm really worried about Daisy in this state. Could Diana stay and keep her company? They're peers and should have a lot to talk about. It might take her mind off things."
Linda hesitated and then looked at Diana.
Diana was reluctant.
She didn't like Daisy or Mia.
Although they were nice enough to her face, she always felt they were strange, looking at her as if she were a joke.
