Chapter 303 Almost There
Half an hour later, the servants discovered that the three children were not sleeping in their rooms, and no one could find them.
Betty immediately reported to Gabriel.
Gabriel mobilized the security team and accessed the home's surveillance footage, only to see Caroline leaving alone, while the children all went into the room. Later, Ethan went to the control room and shut down all the monitors.
If the children had left through the main gate, they would have been spotted by the gatekeepers.
At that time, most of the servants were resting, and the security guards were changing shifts.
If they didn't leave through the main gate, where could they have gone?
The Lancaster family originally had two other entrances, but they had long been sealed off.
At the bus station, Caroline called Sophia urgently, asking her to pack some things and come over.
Initially, Sophia was puzzled, but when Caroline mentioned she was with the three children, the urgency of the situation left Sophia with no time to think. She quickly packed a few things and drove to the station.
She didn't want to lead a life of hiding and running with the children, but she really missed them.
Let her take the children out to play for a while.
She knew deep down that she and the children couldn't escape Gabriel's grasp at the moment, but they could still avoid being discovered briefly.
Sophia drove as fast as she could but encountered traffic jams. She kept honking impatiently.
With only ten minutes left, Sophia considered taking a shortcut, but she was stuck in the middle and couldn't get out.
Caroline called again, asking, "Where are you?"
Sophia replied, "Still on Darkstar Road."
Caroline urged. "Hurry, the Lancaster family probably already noticed they're missing."
Sophia replied, "Okay."
Sophia looked at the map, showing 500 meters of congested road ahead with no signs of clearing.
She gritted her teeth, took out her keys from her bag, grabbed important items like her ID and phone, locked the car, and ran towards the station.
Caroline had already bought the tickets and found a discreet corner to wait.
The three children behaved well. Emma was held tightly by her two brothers, her once chubby and cute face now a bit thinner.
Because she was worried about her mommy and missed her, nothing tasted good at home for Emma.
Seeing the hustle and bustle at the station, Sam was a little scared, but he had to take on the responsibility of protecting his sister, so he forced himself to stay calm, looking ahead with determination.
He was a bit nervous. If they ran away, what would Daddy do?
Sam worried about Daddy and felt sorry for Daddy, but he also really wanted to see Mommy.
Ethan was anxious. Why hadn't Mommy shown up yet?
They couldn't wait too long. He deliberately had his grandmother buy plane and high-speed train tickets in succession, but in reality, they were going to leave B City by bus.
They would pass through the suburbs of Z City, transfer to N City after getting off, and finally reach their destination, S City.
From S City, they could take a ship out of the country.
Ethan had already planned all the routes and thought of solutions to possible problems they might encounter, even how to mislead Daddy the villain during their escape.
Now they just needed to meet Mommy and get on the bus immediately.
Ethan's mind raced quickly. From the moment his grandmother called Mommy to their arrival here, it would take about thirty minutes.
Thirty minutes had already passed.
"Auntie Caroline, give me the phone," Ethan said.
Caroline handed him the phone.
Ethan quickly operated on it.
It turned out there was a traffic jam due to a rear-end collision on a certain road.
Ethan furrowed his brows. Despite being a soft and cute little prince, he now resembled a young strategist in command.
Ethan suggested, "It's too late, Auntie. Let's get on the bus first and let Mommy catch up with us."
Any later, and the villain Daddy might come looking for them.
Caroline immediately refused, "No, it's too dangerous for you to do that. If you encounter bad people, you're too young to fight them, and you might not be able to outrun them."
Caroline suggested, "I'll go with you."
Caroline firmly took the three children onto the bus.
At that moment, one black car after another surrounded the bus directly.
Both the bus driver and the passengers were frightened by this scene.
Not a breath was taken.
Caroline was boarding the bus when she saw this, her heart sinking.
It was over.
The well-trained black-clad bodyguards descended and surrounded the bus, with Gabriel stepping down from the Bentley, exuding a chilling aura, his handsome face dark and solemn, walking straight towards them.
He gave Caroline a cold stare, making her scalp tingle, and feeling as if she was about to be tortured.
Garbiel demanded, "Get off!"
Caroline turned pale, realizing she couldn't escape. Would she end up harming Sophia instead?
Gabriel got on the bus, picked up Emma.
Emma resisted.
Emma claimed, "I don't want to, I don't want to go back with you. You're a villain, you won't let us see Mommy, you're a big villain."
Ethan also came to pull Gabriel, asking him to let go of Emma.
Gabriel frowned, calling two bodyguards over, each holding a child.
Caroline stated, "Gabriel, doing this will only make the children hate you more."
She added, "They're still so young, they can't be separated from their mother."
She suggested, "Just let Sophia see them."
Caroline followed urgently from behind.
Gabriel coldly carried the children into the car.
The bus immediately left in a cloud of dust.
Sophia asked, "Caroline, where are the children?"
Sophia ran over, panting, her face flushed from the sprint, searching everywhere for the three children.
Caroline said, regrettably, "I'm sorry, Sophia, I couldn't stop them. Gabriel took them away."
Sophia looked dazed, her racing heart seemingly coming to a halt.
Suddenly, she caught sight of the familiar Bentley and without thinking, she chased after it.
"Ethan, Emma, Sam!" Sophia called out desperately.
The Bentley was flanked by black cars in the front and back, leisurely turning a corner onto a wide road, picking up speed.
Sophia chased after them from behind.
She had only one thought in her mind which was that she had to catch up, she had to get her children back.
But she had just sprinted a few kilometers, and her stamina couldn't keep up. She watched as the car grew farther and farther away, gradually disappearing from her sweat-blurred vision.
She fell forward fiercely.
"Sophia!" Caroline yelled helplessly.
Caroline caught up, helping her up.
"Are you okay?" Caroline asked.
Sophia's hand was scraped, her arm a bloody mess, but she seemed not to feel the pain, her eyes fixed firmly ahead.
Just a little bit more, just a little bit more.
Gabriel, why are you so cruel?!
Caroline helped Sophia up, and she murmured softly, "Caroline, without them, I don't know if I can go on living."
Caroline was suddenly shocked, trying to comfort her in a fluster.
Caroline coaxed, "It's okay, you will definitely see them. I'll help you. I'll go back to the Lancaster family tomorrow, and I'll make sure you can see them."
Back home, Caroline took out the first aid kit to tend to Sophia's wounds.
She prepared to go out to buy some groceries and cook, but at the door, she met Jake, who had come looking for Sophia.
