Chapter 197 Miss Foster's Instruction

After trying on the gown, Sophia came out to find Fiona waiting outside, eager to see Sophia's embarrassment. Fiona held her chin high, looking down on everyone through her nostrils, completely oblivious to the consequences of her plagiarism of Sophia's design.
Sophia completely ignored her. She had already left her gown inside. The people who had been rejected earlier had already left, and a few more people had brought their gowns in after her. Only one more was left after that, the rest were all rejected.
Noah had kept five gowns in total, among them were Fiona's and Sophia's. The two gowns seemed identical, but they were fundamentally different on the inside.
About ten minutes later, Noah's assistant came out.
"Thank you all for your hard work. Noah has already chosen the gown she needs for the red carpet tomorrow. It's the one designed by Sophia."
"What?!" Fiona's eyes bulged in disbelief, "You must be mistaken?"
The assistant was firm, "There's no mistake. Noah specifically mentioned designer Sophia."
The gowns had tags on them, with the designer's name and the company they belonged to.
Fiona still couldn't believe it. Sophia had gone in after her, so logically Noah would have rejected an identical gown immediately. So why did she choose Sophia's?
Fiona had come early on purpose to get a head start, to present her gown to Noah first. At the time, Noah seemed very interested in her gown, and Fiona thought she had already won Noah's favor.
Sophia came up to her and said in a voice only the two of them could hear, "As an original designer, you openly plagiarize your colleague's work, Fiona. To beat me, you're even willing to ruin your own reputation."
Reputation... Fiona turned to look at Sophia as if she had just woken up from a dream.
"Who are you saying plagiarized? It's clearly you who copied my design. I'm going to sue you!"
"Who plagiarized who? The company will surely investigate."
Sophia had underestimated Fiona, who even resorted to plagiarism, which hurt others without benefiting herself.
Apart from Sophia's gown, all the other gowns were returned.
Sophia also returned to the company and reported Fiona's plagiarism to Margaret. Margaret was a bit incredulous.
"I always thought Fiona was just a bully; I didn't expect her to plagiarize your design." Margaret was so angry she wanted to scold Fiona immediately.
Who gave her the audacity to plagiarize a colleague's design under the company's nose?
Fiona was called into Margaret's office, where Margaret looked at her angrily.
"Tell me, why did you plagiarize Sophia’s design?"
Fiona denied it, "I didn't plagiarize; it's Sophia who plagiarized mine."
Margaret threw out Sophia's draft, "She has a draft, do you?"
Fiona... Her plagiarism was impulsive. She had not intended to plagiarize Sophia's design yesterday. She just wanted to make a gown identical to Sophia's to ruin Sophia's assessment.
Noah would see two identical gowns and definitely wouldn't choose either in the end.
At the time, she only wanted to pull Sophia down and make her unable to participate in the competition. She hadn't thought about the consequences of doing so.
Now she could only insist that Sophia plagiarized her to get through this.
"I'm going to sue Sophia for plagiarism." She shouted loudly.
People near the door heard it.
Margaret laughed in anger, "The plagiarizer dares to sue the original creator. If you're not afraid of making a bigger fool of yourself, go ahead."
Fiona was stunned for a moment. She suddenly remembered that she had no evidence to prove that the gown was her original design, while Sophia had the design draft and had even uploaded it to the system, which had a record. Apart from an identical gown, she had nothing else.
It was an impulsive decision, and she didn't have time to draw a design sketch.
Even the gown was made in a hurry, and the details were not as refined.
Fiona panicked.
If she was really judged to be plagiarizing, she would definitely be kicked out of the Lancaster Group.
In that minute, Fiona's face changed several times, from green to white. She turned several corners in her mind and finally played her trump card.
At this time, only she and Margaret were in the office.
"Margaret, do you know why I'm so against Sophia?"
Margaret hummed lightly without speaking.
Fiona laughed lightly, "Because of Miss Foster. She has a grudge against Sophia and doesn't want Sophia to stay in the company. So, she asked me to drive her away. I didn't plagiarize; I deliberately made a gown identical to hers so that she couldn't pass the assessment and couldn't continue to participate in the competition."
"Everything I did was instructed by Miss Foster. Margaret, if you want to drive me away because of this, you must get Miss Foster's consent."
Fiona looked defiant, as if she had nothing to lose. Her backer was Tiffany, and Tiffany was Mr. Lancaster's girlfriend, the future mistress of Lancaster.
Would Margaret dare fire her?
Firing her would be disrespecting the future mistress of Lancaster.
Margaret furrowed her brows. She knew that Fiona was close with Tiffany, but she hadn't expected that Fiona was acting against Sophia under Tiffany's instigation.
Miss Foster wanted to get rid of Sophia?
Margaret felt a headache coming on.
Why were things getting more and more complicated?
It was just that Fiona had plagiarized Sophia’s design, a deed of such a terrible nature that Fiona was definitely going to be fired. Yet now Fiona claimed that Tiffany had instructed her to do so.
Margaret waved her hand, "You can leave now."
Seeing that Margaret had lost her earlier dominance, Fiona instantly felt triumphant.
Indeed, invoking Miss Foster's name was effective. Margaret didn't dare to do anything to her.
Fiona swaggered out of the director's office, passing by Sophia under everyone's gaze.
"Don't think you're safe just because you've caught Noah's eye. You've offended Miss Foster, and she won't let you off," she said.
Sophia replied, "Your breath smells awful. No, wait, have you been eating garbage?"
She even waved her hand in front of her nose in disgust, as if she really had smelled something foul. Fiona's face turned green with rage.
"You're the one who's been eating garbage."
She stomped away.
Seeing her demeanor just now, Sophia guessed that Margaret probably couldn't do much to her.
Sophia furrowed her brows. The gown that Fiona had plagiarized had only been shown to Noah. Since it hadn't been released to the public or involved in any substantial trade, if she were to sue Fiona, she could certainly win, but it wouldn't have much impact on Fiona.
Was this matter just going to be left at that?
Sophia was unwilling to let it go.
She had almost lost her qualification to compete. If she hadn't used some tricks, she would have definitely lost today.
Noah's assistant was also curious as to why Noah would choose the gown designed by Sophia. Clearly, Sophia's gown was identical to Fiona's, and one of them must be a plagiarist.
How could she choose a gown of unknown originality?
Noah, flipping through her script, explained to her assistant nonchalantly, "The clothes Sophia wore were designed by herself. I chose her because I liked the clothes she wore. After trying on the gown, I'm even more convinced that she is the original designer."
