Chapter 325 Definitely a Stepmother
Emma was going to the Watson Group, so Ethan and Sam had to follow.
David now had a huge task ahead of him: responsible for the safety of three children.
After school, the children told Sophia that they wanted to accompany Josie to the Watson Group to play, and since David was going along, Sophia agreed.
Nicholas deliberately sent a car to pick up Josie.
The four children sat together, with Emma teaching Josie how to play games on an iPad.
Josie wasn't very good at playing, but she wanted to try things that Emma liked.
Emma patiently started teaching her how to create an account.
Gradually, Josie found it fascinating.
Unknowingly, they arrived at the Watson Group.
Charles watched the four children playing games in the back seat, furrowing his brow.
Would it be harmful for children of such a young age to play games? Would it lead to a loss of ambition in the future?
It seemed like he needed to report this to Nicholas.
Charles led the way, followed by the four little ones, and behind them was the sturdy David.
Their Group was quite eye-catching on the way.
They took the elevator to the general manager's office, and Josie curiously looked around.
So, this was where her dad worked.
Josie felt cold.
Emma couldn't help but rub her hands together.
Charles knocked on the door, got permission, and entered.
The four children appeared in unison, and Nicholas paused for a moment.
Why were there suddenly four of them?
Upon closer inspection, he recognized the other two children.
Nicholas had a good memory and decent eyesight; even from a distance at the ski resort last time, he could clearly see the appearance of the two children.
They were Caroline's children!
"Dad, I brought my classmate to play. Is that okay?" Josie noticed that Nicholas's expression didn't seem right and asked cautiously,
Nicholas said, "Sure."
Nicholas's gaze remained on Ethan and Emma, his hand gripping the pen tightly, veins popping on the back of his fair hand.
His inner turmoil surged with countless emotions, yet he couldn't quite grasp what he was feeling.
His eyes grew increasingly complex.
Ethan keenly sensed that this very famous person was looking at him and Emma strangely.
Why?
It seemed like they were meeting for the first time.
Was he an enemy of their father?
But he couldn't sense any hostility from Nicholas.
It was Josie's first time in Nicholas's office, and she felt a bit awkward. The four children were standing there obediently as if they were being punished.
David stood behind Ethan, Emma, and Sam, his gaze resolute.
After a while, Nicholas realized that the atmosphere was off.
He softened his expression and gently said to his daughter, "Why don't you introduce your friend to me, Josie?"
"Okay." Josie happily took Emma's hand. "Dad, this is my best friend, Emma; she's like a little princess at home."
She envied Emma.
Then she pointed to Ethan. "He's Ethan, Emma's big brother."
"And he's Sam, Emma's little brother; they're triplets."
Triplets?
Caroline had triplets!
Nicholas felt like he had been hit with a blunt object in the heart.
He momentarily didn't catch the flaw in the names of the three children.
"Dad, what's wrong?" Josie noticed Nicholas's pale face and approached him cautiously.
"I am fine; let Charles take you around."
"Okay, Dad, you rest well."
"Alright."
Charles took the four children out.
Nicholas leaned weakly against the chair's back.
Caroline's three children were well taken care of; they looked healthy and smart.
Why could she be so heartless as to reject Josie?
Just because Josie was his child?
He had been so good to her; how could she be so disdainful of him?
Nicholas closed his eyes, memories flooding back of how he met Caroline years ago and how they became the envy of everyone as a couple.
But what was once a relationship envied by all eventually became as fragile as thin ice, and they could never reconcile.
Nicholas clutched his chest in pain.
He thought he had long forgotten her, no longer loved her, but it turned out that she was still etched into his very being.
Nicholas was trapped in an emotion he couldn't escape from, gradually falling asleep and entering a nightmare.
Outside, Charles was aimlessly wandering the company with the four children.
He was a rough man and had no idea how to handle children.
"Charles, can you walk slower?" Emma couldn't bear it and called out to him.
Charles stopped in his tracks, furrowing his brow as he turned around.
He thought kids were such a hassle.
Josie was also panting.
At that moment, Charles's phone rang, Daisy calling.
"Charles, is Josie at the company?"
"Yes."
"Okay, thanks; I'll come over to pick up Josie right away."
Before Charles could say anything, Daisy hung up.
"I don't want to wander around anymore; it's not fun here; my dad's company is much more interesting." Emma pouted.
Josie suggested, "How about we go eat something?"
"Okay."
Nicholas sent Sharpe to buy snacks, and as they returned, Charles led the four children back to the general manager's office.
Sharpe was much kinder than Charles; he smiled and handed out snacks to the children, sitting down to play with them.
Seeing himself rescued, Charles quickly made his escape.
Amidst the laughter and joy, Daisy appeared in a huff.
Coming out of the elevator, she heard the laughter and paused for a moment, a flash of severity in her eyes.
Josie had grown bolder, daring to bring people to the company!
Daisy strode over, grabbing Josie's hand.
"Josie, why are you so thoughtless, bringing so many people to disturb your dad at work? Don't you know how hard your dad works?"
Daisy's grip on Josie's hand hurt, tears welling up in her eyes, but she held them back.
"You're hurting Josie." Emma watched Josie in pain but dared not speak out, feeling deeply for her.
"What does it matter to me if I hurt my daughter? Who are you? Mind your own business; get lost!"
She detested Caroline's two children.
They must have instigated Josie at kindergarten to get close to Nicholas.
As Daisy moved to push Emma away, David immediately stepped forward, pushing Daisy back, causing her to slip and fall heavily to the ground. She screamed and pulled Josie down with her.
Sharpe swiftly caught Josie.
This time, Daisy felt like she might have broken a bone, the pain causing her to gasp for air, unable to stand up.
Emma peeked out from behind David, her voice full of righteousness. "You wicked woman, you're so mean to Josie. You must not be her mom; you must be a stepmother. Only a stepmother would treat Josie this way."
Daisy was struck at her weak point.
She trembled with anger, pointing at Emma. "You little bastard, how dare you accuse me, you..."
"You're the bastard; your whole family are bastards." Emma was furious. "If you insult me again, I'll have my dad shave your head bald and make you a nun."
Nicholas had been awakened by the commotion outside.
He didn't want to go out and see those three children, but sensing the sudden change, he realized something was amiss and wheeled himself out.
