Chapter 395 You Must Hate Him, Right?
Sophia was floored.
Jake had no clue she'd moved, so how did he send those flowers?
"Where'd you move to?" Jake's heart skipped a beat.
He'd been away on business for a while, and when he got back, she was already gone from Blue End.
"I'm at Emerald Heights now."
Emerald Heights was a swanky, high-end community, full of rich and powerful folks. No way could Sophia afford a place there on her own.
Jake suddenly felt like he'd missed out on a lot.
On the drive, they chatted, and Jake found out Sophia had sold her Blue End house and was now renting in Emerald Heights.
People who could buy houses in Emerald Heights usually weren't strapped for cash and wouldn't just rent out their places.
For Sophia to be able to rent there, could it be...
It was late, so Jake dropped Sophia off at Emerald Heights and left.
Sophia got home and saw the bouquet of sunflowers she hadn't unpacked yet.
"Mr. A," Sophia muttered.
If it wasn't Jake, then it had to be Gabriel.
She laughed bitterly.
Around 10:30 P.M., Gabriel drove back. As he passed the trash can, he saw a bouquet of sunflowers lying there.
Judging by the packaging, it was the bouquet he'd asked the florist to send to Sophia that morning.
Gabriel frowned, thinking, 'Does she not like sunflowers?'
Gabriel made a mental note.
The next day, Gabriel had the florist send a bouquet of roses.
Sophia frowned. Not wanting to trouble the delivery person, she signed for the flowers and then placed them at Gabriel's door with a note.
When Gabriel went out, he almost kicked the flowers on the ground.
He picked them up and took out the note inside.
Sophia: [Please don't send me flowers anymore. I hate flowers.]
He thought, 'She hates flowers?'
'She used to love flowers. She'd put them in pretty vases and place them on the tables in the living room and dining room.'
'Why would Sophia suddenly say she hates flowers?'
Gabriel clenched the note in his hand.
'It's not the flowers she hates; it's me.'
The pain spread in his heart.
'So, the times she accepted the flowers, did she think they were from someone else?'
Gabriel thought of Jake.
Yesterday, he was with Sophia.
Gabriel's grip tightened even more.
The Tuck family aged a decade overnight because of Noah's accident.
Noah was a star, and her face was everything. A scar on her face meant disfigurement, and her career was over.
These days, Noah locked herself in her room, refusing to see anyone and barely eating. Sometimes, the food sent in was left untouched.
Adrian and Danielle sighed all day long.
The Tuck family was also in business. Even if Noah didn't make it in the entertainment industry, she could still come home to inherit the family business.
But her dream was in the entertainment industry.
Now that she'd lost her dream, it was like Noah had lost the whole world.
How could she accept this?
Online, people were saying Noah was disfigured, and various scandals were being dug up. Because of this, all of Noah's contracts were terminated, and some even required her to pay penalties.
The film she valued most was set to start shooting in a month, but she was replaced at the last minute.
All the company's events for her were also canceled.
"Harrison, you're here," Danielle greeted him warmly.
When Noah first saw the scar on her face, she cried and threw fits for days. Harrison was always the one to calm her down.
Now, she wasn't throwing fits; she was just too quiet, and it made everyone uneasy.
"I'll go see her."
"Yes, please do."
Harrison went upstairs and knocked on her door. No response. He opened it anyway.
Noah was lying on the sofa, wearing a thin white nightgown.
She'd lost a lot of weight, her skin was pale, and the room was dark and oppressive with the curtains drawn.
As he got closer, he saw the scar on her cheek.
Harrison walked over and pulled the curtains open, letting the sunlight flood in. It shone on Noah's face, and she squinted against the sudden brightness, quickly closing her eyes.
"Close the curtains!" she snapped.
Harrison didn't budge. He stood in front of her, blocking the sunlight from her face.
"You're so young, but you're giving up on yourself, Noah. This isn't like you."
Noah glared at him and turned away, ignoring him.
"Are you planning to spend the next few decades locked in this room?"
Noah still ignored him.
Harrison took a deep breath and bent down to pick her up.
"What are you doing? Let go of me!" Noah struggled and slapped Harrison across the face.
The slap was loud and clear.
After hitting him, Noah froze.
She didn't mean to; she was just feeling miserable and didn't want to deal with anyone. But Harrison insisted on provoking her, and in her emotional state, she accidentally slapped him.
Harrison also froze for a moment, his face darkening.
He glared at Noah and said, "Noah, don't think you can be arrogant just because I like you a bit. Your face is precious, but so is mine. I already look average, and if you ruin my face, do you aspire for us to become more compatible?"
Harrison's words were harsh, and his expression was fierce, but there was a hint of ambiguity in his tone.
Noah's eyes were beautiful, and when she widened them, Harrison found them even more beautiful.
He couldn't help but lower his head and kiss her eyes. Noah instinctively closed her eyes, feeling the warm touch of his lips.
Harrison's Adam's apple bobbed, and his voice was gentle and magnetic.
He said, "It's just a scar. I'll take you abroad to get it removed."
Noah's tears fell.
"What if it can't be removed?"
"Then I'll take care of you for the rest of your life. If you can't get married, I can reluctantly take you in."
Noah punched him.
"Harrison, you jerk!"
She hit his chest, not very hard, just wanting to vent because he deserved it.
Harrison smirked.
"If you hit me again, I'll..."
"You'll what? You jerk."
Noah hit him twice more.
Harrison threw her onto the bed and then pressed down on her. Noah continued to struggle and resist.
But in the end, Noah wasn't as strong as Harrison.
She was tightly held by Harrison.
Harrison's words fell into her ear.
"Noah, I never thought I could like someone this much. When I heard about your accident, I felt extremely upset.
"Don't worry. I'll do everything I can to remove the scar on your face."
"I'll help you rise again in the entertainment industry. I'll make you the top star in that circle."
He seemed to be comforting her, making a vow, and also making a responsible promise.
Noah slowly reached out and placed her hand on his waist.
