Chapter 737 Let's Do It Together

Victor just wanted Jake to help him solve the chip technology problem.

To train Jake to compete with the Lancaster Group, he had specifically sent Jake to learn this technology.

Jake did not disappoint him. Although Jake was not as good as those professional experts and professors in technology, he was not bad either. He always had all sorts of strange ways to solve problems.

Jake said coldly, "I can't solve the problems you're talking about."

Victor was immediately displeased. "Can't, or won't?"

"Can't."

"I just found out that Sophia is not dead. She was saved by the Blackwood family."

"She's not someone I like. I've already lost interest in her."

Victor didn't believe it and chuckled lightly, "If you're not interested, that's even better. I don't need to consider your feelings anymore and can do whatever I want."

"Haven't you always done whatever you wanted?" Jake retorted sarcastically.

Victor was silent for a few seconds and suppressing anger.

"I'll give you half a day to figure out a solution to this matter, or else..."

He didn't finish his sentence, but his threat was clear.

He had been able to control Jake for so many years because it was mutually beneficial, and now there was an added vulnerability for Jake, Sophia.

Jake said without a trace of fear, "Sophia is already engaged to Gabriel. They will get married soon, and they already have three children. Father, do you think I would ignore so many young and beautiful girls and still be interested in a married woman like Sophia?"

"If you want to harm Sophia, I advise you to give up. The Blackwood family has significant relationships in Country M, which you should have already felt this time. And Gabriel, he's just waiting for an opportunity to take us both down."

"We didn't succeed last time. Do you think they will give us another chance?"

After saying this, Jake hung up the phone.

Then he made an overseas call.

"Hi, Alaric, let's work together."

Sophia asked around but couldn't find out who sent the dress.

She had checked; the dress was a high-end custom piece, but she didn't know which designer it came from.

She wondered, 'Could it be sent by a friend from abroad?'

Sophia contacted a few friends abroad. Two of them replied that they hadn't sent anything, and one hadn't responded yet.

Sophia could only put this matter aside for now.

After her promotion, she was even busier, but she still left work on time every day to spend the evenings with her children.

Gabriel also tried to decline social engagements and came home early to be with Sophia and the kids.

The day passed peacefully.

In the evening, Gabriel was in the study having a video call with Harrison.

"Victor hasn't found a solution yet. He's trying to poach our key technical members."

"Jake didn't help him?" Gabriel found it strange.

"Apparently not."

Gabriel pondered.

Harrison said, "I acquired another five percent of the Phoenix Group's shares today."

"Be careful not to let Victor notice."

Harrison said, "Don't worry. Victor is currently focused on finding someone to solve the technical problem and has no time to watch the stock market."

Gabriel nodded thoughtfully.

Harrison's progress was swift, while the Micro Circuit Group had no movement.

Jake was not someone who would sit and wait for death, but his unusually quiet behavior made Gabriel even more vigilant.

It snowed again in City B. Winter had arrived, and the New Year was approaching.

Since Sophia was quite afraid of the cold, wearing a wedding dress in this season would definitely make her catch a cold, and she wanted an outdoor wedding, so they temporarily set the wedding date for spring.

In her free time, Sophia wanted to urge Caroline to have a wedding together with her.

Caroline muttered, "I also want to have a wedding with you, but he doesn't seem to want to get married yet."

She had hinted to Nicholas, but Nicholas seemed not to understand and quickly changed the subject.

She could see Nicholas's intentions, so she didn't bring it up again.

Caroline tried to tell herself not to overthink it. Nicholas must have his reasons for no intentions to get married, and she couldn't force him.

Besides, Caroline and Nicholas had just gotten back together, so they could fully enjoy the current romance before thinking about marriage.

Caroline said lightly, "That's fine. I can be your bridesmaid."

Sophia still noticed that Caroline was a bit disappointed.

"Alright, you can be my bridesmaid."

In the evening, after finishing a meeting, Gabriel handed the remaining tasks to Alex and drove to pick up Sophia from work.

Alex sat in the office, staring at the two piles of documents on the desk.

Alex thought in mind, 'Should I find a girlfriend? That way, I would have a reason to leave work on time. Hmm, good idea! I will ask my mom to arrange a blind date when I go back home.'

On the way, Sophia and Gabriel went to the supermarket to buy snacks for the kids.

As the car entered the estate, Sophia thought about what to say and slowly spoke, "Can we postpone our wedding?"

Gabriel turned his head and looked at her in confusion, asking gently, "What's wrong?"

Gabriel wondered, 'Could it be that Sophia was afraid of marriage? Was it because of the hurt from her previous marriage that she hadn't healed yet?'

Gabriel felt a pang in his heart.

Sophia explained, "I want to have a wedding with Caroline."

So that's what it was.

Gabriel breathed a huge sigh of relief internally and immediately expressed his understanding.

"Alright, whatever you want. We'll wait for them."

Sophia was a bit surprised. Gabriel was eager to marry her, so she thought he wouldn't agree. She had even prepared what to say.

But she didn't have to say any of the things she had prepared to convince Gabriel.

"But..."

Gabriel said, "It's okay with Grandma. She will understand."

Sophia was silent. She looked down at her intertwined fingers and, after a minute or two, made up her mind.

"Let's register our marriage first."

She wanted to have a wedding with Caroline but didn't want to keep Ruth waiting.

So, registering the marriage first and then having the wedding was a good option.

Gabriel's lips curled up in surprise, "Okay."

Afraid she would change her mind, Gabriel quickly said, "Tomorrow is a good day. Let's go tomorrow?"

"Okay." Sophia agreed without any hesitation.

They planned not to tell Ruth for now and to surprise her with the marriage certificate.

The next morning, Sophia was already picking out clothes in the walk-in closet.

Gabriel walked in and saw her frowning in indecision.

"This one."

He pointed to a white dress.

Sophia looked at it and decided on that one, then paired it with a black coat and a scarf.

Today, she had put on what she considered her most perfect makeup.
