Chapter 358 No Mercy
Caroline played with the three kids for a while, then went to the kitchen to help Sophia.
"Caroline." Sophia gave Caroline a meaningful look and continued chopping vegetables. "you and that, Nicholas..."
"Can you believe it, Sophie? He's so over the top – he actually expects me to be his side piece!" Caroline got angry just talking about it.
Sophia's eyes widened.
This Nicholas was just as disgusting as Gabriel.
"So what did you say?"
"Of course, I gave him a good scolding."
"After he treated you like that, are you still going to teach Josie violin?"
Sophia felt heartbroken for Caroline. Her former lover asking her to be a mistress was an incredibly cruel pain.
Caroline lowered her head, looking at the vegetables in her hand, her voice dropping.
"Paul said the philanthropist was him."
Even though Paul tried hard to lie, she still found out the truth immediately.
"Thanks to Nicholas's help, Lisa was able to complete the surgery successfully."
"Even though I hate him for killing my child, I have to accept his help for Lisa's sake."
Sophia felt a dull pain in her heart.
"Have you ever thought that maybe it was a misunderstanding?"
"Nope." Caroline's eyes were filled with blood and hatred. "After attending my child's actual burial, I sought him out. I needed to understand his cruelty, to seek retribution for my child.
"But when I got to the Watson family, Daisy had two bodyguards beat me up and throw me out."
Caroline would never forget how Daisy, as the hostess of the Watson family, humiliated her that day.
She was beaten unconscious, and Daisy threw her by the roadside, where she was rescued by a passerby.
She had thought about revenge, about fighting back, but it was useless.
In the city's fabric of influence, the Watsons and the Wolfs held sway, their power undeniable. Meanwhile, Caroline, an orphan, stood at the margins. Even the orphanage she once called home found itself entangled, risking the shelter of its young inhabitants.
In the end, with the help of her mentor, Caroline managed to keep her spot to study abroad, and she successfully started a new life overseas.
Sophia listened, full of anger.
Both she and Caroline were unlucky, both fell in love with douchebags, and both were hurt by them.
But she was a bit luckier than Caroline; her three children were all alive and well.
Sophia slammed the knife on the cutting board and said fiercely, "If I ever get the chance, I'll definitely teach that Daisy a good lesson for you!"
Caroline felt warm inside and said, "Thank you, Sophie, it's so good to have you."
Caroline and Sophia drifted into conversation about various topics. Beyond the kitchen walls, the trio of youngsters gathered, huddling close as they carefully secured two strands of hair in separate, transparent ziplock pouches.
"I'll take it to great-grandma," Emma said, running next door.
Ruth immediately had James take it to the testing agency.
"Sweetie, what are you planning to do this time?" Ruth asked curiously, holding Emma.
Emma smiled mysteriously. "It's a secret."
"A secret from me too?"
"You'll know when the time comes, great-grandma."
Ruth playfully patted Emma's bottom.
"Naughty."
Emma covered her bottom, feeling wronged. "Great-grandma, I'm almost six years old."
"Even at six, you're still a child."
Emma huffed and ran back next door.
Caroline had to go to the hospital to stay overnight, so she left in a hurry after dinner.
Sophia went to the study to work, and the three little ones each did their own thing.
Sam went to the studio to paint, Emma practiced violin in her room, and Ethan was writing code on his iPad.
Ethan suddenly received an email.
Ethan opened it and saw it was a technical help request from the IT director of Lancaster Group.
Weren't these the virtual accounts that sent Sophia all those messy messages?
Ethan smirked mischievously. Since the request came to him, he would definitely teach Gabriel a lesson!
The IT director broke into a sweat when he saw Ethan's price. This was way too expensive!
But he had already asked many people, and no one could solve this technical problem.
The company's internal employees were not skilled in this area; they were good at defense, not attack, unlike typical aggressive hackers.
The IT director dispatched the quotation to Alex, who promptly relayed it to Gabriel.
Gabriel said, "No matter the cost, find out!"
Ethan saw the deposit come in and happily started working.
But this time, the difficulty was high, and it would take him some time.
Before going to bed, Ethan finally traced the source of the virtual accounts. He quickly sent the results over, then shut off his iPad and pretended to be asleep.
Emma came in and saw Ethan asleep. She pouted in frustration.
It was Ethan's turn to accompany Gabriel today, but since Ethan was asleep, he couldn't go.
Oh well, she wouldn't go either.
Emma and Sam also climbed into bed one after another, lying down next to Ethan.
Gabriel saw the source of the virtual accounts and quickly had people start an investigation.
The next day, they traced it back to Tiffany purchasing these virtual accounts.
Upon receiving the results from Alex, Gabriel, who had just entered his vehicle en route to the company, encountered the content on his phone, causing an immediate chill to pervade the previously tranquil atmosphere within the car.
Gabriel's handsome face tightened, and his lips pressed into a thin line.
He drove straight to the hospital.
Tiffany had been on edge these past two days, afraid that Sophia would bring another man to take intimate photos. She specifically instructed the two bodyguards to chase Sophia away if they saw her.
However, Sophia hadn't shown up these past two days.
Gabriel walked over with a grim face. The two bodyguards were hired by a security company and didn't recognize Gabriel. Seeing Gabriel's hostile approach, they immediately blocked him.
"This is not a place you can just walk into," one bodyguard said coldly.
Gabriel gave the bodyguard a cold look. He didn't force his way in; there was no need.
"Tell her Gabriel was here."
Gabriel turned and left.
At that moment, a nurse was pushing Tiffany out of the ward for a check-up. She saw Gabriel's back and quickly called out to him.
"Gabriel!"
She urged the nurse, "Push me over quickly."
Gabriel stopped at the sound and turned, his eyes coldly fixed on Tiffany.
Tiffany smiled sweetly.
"Gabriel, you finally came to see me. I haven't seen you in days." Tiffany pouted and pretended to wipe her eyes.
The swelling on her face had gone down, leaving only a bit of bruising, and her leg was still in a cast.
"I'm not here to see you."
Tiffany's expression froze.
"Then you..."
"I'm here to warn you," Gabriel said, his face stern and his voice cold. "Stop sending those messy texts and photos to Sophia."
Tiffany's face turned pale, and she gripped the wheelchair's armrest tightly.
"If it goes down that road once more, don't come at me for turning cold-blooded.!"
Gabriel left those words and walked away.
His warning echoed in her ears, and Tiffany stared blankly in the direction he disappeared.
Gabriel came to warn her for Sophia.
She was horrified to realize she was drifting further and further away from Gabriel!
