Chapter 410 Not Coming Back
The Blackwood family's old mansion was halfway through its renovation. Sophia swung by, snapped some photos, and sent them to David and Jennifer.
She also sent Jennifer a list of potential locations for Fusion Dynamics Corporation.
Jennifer was impressed by Sophia's efficiency. In just a few days, Sophia had gathered all the relevant info.
Each location's details were thorough, covering how the current owners acquired them and any potential debt issues.
Jennifer showed the info to Celeste, who was equally impressed and praised Sophia.
"You can tell she did her homework and really gets Fusion Dynamics Corporation's vibe."
Fusion Dynamics Corporation was picky about its locations, never choosing typical office buildings. Plus, their clothes weren't just about design.
From weaving to dyeing to cutting and sewing, Fusion Dynamics Corporation did it all.
With a century-long history, it was impressive that Fusion Dynamics Corporation had made a name for itself internationally, let alone in a foreign country. This alone showed their strength.
Rumors were flying that Fusion Dynamics Corporation was planning to move back to Country M. Headlines and online chatter was buzzing about the move.
Local bigwigs in Country M were constantly setting up meetings with Celeste, and David had been dragged to several dinners. Everyone hoped Fusion Dynamics Corporation wouldn't relocate.
"Mom, this move is a big deal, and the obstacles will only get tougher," David said after dinner.
The Blackwood family had deep roots here, with a vast network of interests. Their departure would definitely ruffle some feathers, and people would try to block them.
Celeste snorted, "I'm almost in my grave; you think I'm scared?"
The Blackwood family wasn't afraid; at worst, they'd lose some financial interests.
Celeste and David discussed some strategies and then talked about Patricia.
"When we get back, I want to change Patricia's name to Patricia Blackwood and add her to the family tree."
David frowned and thought for a moment. "What about the Brown family?"
"The Brown family just wants money."
"Okay." David didn't object, but what Celeste said next shocked him.
"After Patricia changes her name and joins the Blackwood family, I want to mentor her."
Was Celeste planning to groom Patricia as the successor to Fusion Dynamics Corporation?
Given Patricia's current qualifications, it seemed unlikely. She had only attended a mediocre university and barely graduated. After graduation, she worked at the Brown Group.
Based on her current performance at the Blackwood Group, David had his doubts.
Maybe Celeste's personal guidance could make a difference for Patricia.
Over the weekend, Sophia planned to take the kids to visit Caroline and Josie.
Caroline felt it wasn't her place, so she decided to take Josie to Sophia's house instead.
Sophia had moved, and Caroline hadn't had a chance to celebrate.
Nicholas arranged for a driver to take them over.
Compared to their old villa, this one felt much cozier.
The four kids played in the yard while Sophia and Caroline relaxed under the canopy, sipping coffee and munching on snacks Sophia had made.
The sunlight was warm, and the scene felt timeless and serene.
"How are things with Nicholas? He hasn't done anything to you, has he?" Sophia asked, concerned.
"No, he hasn't."
"This isn't a long-term solution. Being a nanny for him, what if one day..."
"I have no choice. Josie is still young. She just reunited with me, and she feels very insecure. If I go against Nicholas, it will ultimately hurt Josie."
Adults could handle things their own way, but a child's heart, once hurt, might take a lifetime to heal.
Like Caroline, she didn't know why she became an orphan. As a child, she often wondered if her parents abandoned her because she was a girl or if they had some unavoidable reason for leaving her.
Caroline was still young and didn't have deep memories, but every child in an orphanage felt abandoned.
Sophia held Caroline's hand and gently squeezed it.
"If you ever have any difficulties, you must tell me."
Caroline had helped her a lot, and she wanted to return the favor.
They were not just good friends now; they were family.
"How about I have Josie recognize you as her godmother?" Caroline suddenly suggested.
She was the godmother of Ethan, Emma, and Sam, so Josie could also recognize Sophia as her godmother.
"Sure," Sophia agreed happily.
That way, she would have four kids.
Emma's wish for a sister would be dashed again.
When the four kids got tired of playing and returned to their moms, Caroline had Josie recognize Sophia as her godmother.
Josie liked Emma's mommy very much, so when Caroline asked her to recognize Sophia as her godmother, she naturally accepted.
"Sophia."
"Josie, today was too sudden. Next time, I'll prepare a gift for you." Sophia hugged Josie and fed her a cookie.
"From now on, Josie will be your sister," Sophia told her three kids.
Emma pouted, "I want a little sister."
Josie suddenly becoming an older sister was a bit of an adjustment for her, but she felt a strange sense of responsibility.
"Emma," she said playfully, patting Emma on the shoulder.
"Josie," Emma responded.
The two kids called each other back and forth, happily playing around.
Caroline and Josie had a wonderful day at Sophia's place and only went back after dinner.
When Caroline and Josie returned to Heights Hill Villa, it was already 8:30 P.M., and Nicholas was not back yet.
Molly came over to help push the wheelchair.
"Ms. Clark, Mr. Watson said he won't be back tonight. You should sleep with Josie."
It seemed Nicholas was going to spend the night with Daisy.
Caroline nodded, her expression indifferent. She didn't care whether Nicholas came back or not.
As long as Josie was by her side, she was content.
Moreover, Caroline was here to be a nanny, not the hostess, but Molly treated Caroline as if she were the hostess.
Caroline wanted to clarify things with Molly, but Molly had already gone back to her room.
Nicholas didn't show up at Heights Hill Villa for three consecutive days. Caroline and Josie had a great time together, going out and having fun every day.
One day, Caroline received a call from Ben.
Ben asked to meet, and Caroline agreed.
Ben had introduced her to many jobs before, but she hadn't formally thanked him yet.
After setting a time, Caroline didn't want to leave Josie alone at home, so she took Josie with her to the meeting.
