Chapter 12
Gabriel didn't say anything, which was considered an admission. Tiffany's heart sank a little.
"Do you want Sophia to take care of Sam?"
"Huh, Sophia is not worthy of being Sam's mother at all." Gabriel's anger towards Sophia for Sam was filled with his heart, with nowhere to vent.
He couldn't help but step on the accelerator, increasing the speed, which frightened Tiffany, who turned pale.
"Gabriel, slow down."
A minute later, Gabriel controlled his emotions and slowed down the speed.
A faint worry emerged in Tiffany's heart.
She had to do something. She knew how much Gabriel cared about Sam. It was possible that he would let Sophia take care of Sam. When that happened, if Sam became close to Sophia, where would Tiffany fit in?
...
Following Alex, Sophia entered one of the luxurious apartments in this upscale neighborhood. After Alex told her the password, he was about to leave.
"Gabriel didn't send anyone to watch over me?" She sarcastically remarked.
Alex stopped in his tracks.
"In M country, you couldn't run away, and in the country, it's even more impossible."
Sophia instantly understood that Gabriel had already reached the peak of power in these five years.
She waved her hand dismissively. "Rest assured, I won't run."
Alex left, and Sophia took a look at the furnishings in the room. It seemed that someone regularly cleaned it, with complete furniture and clean items. It was even stocked with fresh ingredients in the refrigerator.
Could it be that Gabriel had prepared all of this in advance?
Regardless, as long as she wasn't hungry.
Now that she was free, Sophia immediately went out and bought a mobile phone and SIM card, quickly calling Vincent.
"Sophia, where are you now?" Vincent's worried voice came through the phone.
"I have already returned to the country, but I can't meet you all yet. Just wait a few more days. How about Ethan and Emma?"
"They are in the study, reading."
Vincent quickly handed the phone to Ethan and Emma.
"Ethan, Emma."
As soon as Emma heard her mommy's voice, tears welled up and she snatched the phone.
"Mommy, where are you? Are you okay?"
Sophia's heart tightened.
"Mommy is fine, Emma, be good. You can see mommy in just two more days."
She also wanted to see her two treasures right away, but she couldn't be sure if Gabriel was monitoring her. She had to behave well and make Gabriel lower his guard, thinking that she wouldn't escape, before she could safely see her children.
After talking to the children for a long time, Sophia hung up the phone.
She couldn't sleep at night, thinking that Gabriel should take her to meet Mrs. Lancaster in the next two days.
However, she never expected that the first person Gabriel would take her to meet was not Mrs. Lancaster.
...
Two days passed, and Gabriel seemed to have forgotten about her completely. Sophia was like salted fish, lazing around in the apartment, occasionally going out for a stroll and reconnaissance.
After observing, she confirmed that Gabriel wasn't monitoring her, and there were no surveillance devices installed in the apartment.
If that's the case, why should she stay here? She should quickly reunite with her treasures. So, that night, Sophia packed up and left.
She was dressed casually, wearing a mask, and took a taxi, but soon after she left, Alex arrived.
He pressed the doorbell, but no one answered for a long time. Worried, he entered the password, only to find the place empty.
Alex's face slightly changed, and he quickly took out his phone and called Gabriel.
"Boss, madam has disappeared again."
Gabriel's face turned dark. Sophia had already returned to the country, yet she dared to be restless!
"Find her!"
He impatiently adjusted his tie and forcefully pushed away a woman who was trying to approach him. The force was so strong, without any tenderness, that the woman fell to the ground and exclaimed coquettishly, "Mr. Lancaster."
Impatience was written all over his handsome face, and Gabriel was extremely annoyed. As a result, his gaze looked intimidating because of his inner frustration. His entire being exuded a cold and frosty aura, and his thin lips...
Indifferently, he uttered a single word, "Get lost!"
Harrison, who was standing beside, laughed and patted Mr. Douglas, the president of the Douglas Group who had organized today's gathering, on the shoulder with a hint of schadenfreude in his smile.
"I've always said that our Mr. Lancaster is not interested in women. Look at what happened now, poor girl had to suffer."
Saying that, he personally helped the girl up and flirtatiously flicked her chin.
"Remember this, don't get too close to our CEO in the future."
Although Harrison had an average appearance, he exuded an aura of nobility and elegance. His deep affectionate gaze was capable of captivating anyone.
The girl was captivated by his charm and had completely forgotten her previous grievances. She shyly nodded her head.
"Alright, you may leave now."
Reluctantly, the girl left.
Mr. Douglas approached with a glass of wine, "I apologize, Mr. Lancaster. Today's arrangement was not well-thought-out. Allow me to take a self-punishing drink."
Gabriel didn't even glance at him, stood up, grabbed his coat from the side, and left.
"Mr. Lancaster..." Mr. Douglas tried to catch up, but was stopped by Harrison.
"Mr. Lancaster is not in a good mood today. Let's make another appointment at a later date."
Having said that, he chased after Gabriel.
In the parking lot, Harrison quickly caught up with him, skillfully jumped into the passenger seat, and pretended to be drunk.
"I'm drunk, take me home."
"Get out." Gabriel's voice was cold.
"Old Fu, don't be so heartless."
"Get out, don't make me say it a third time."
"F*ck!" As Gabriel's childhood friend, whenever Gabriel twitched his eyebrows, he knew exactly what nonsense he was thinking. When Gabriel received a call from Alex in the club, something was definitely not right.
Could it be that Alex made a mistake?
Annoyed, Harrison reluctantly got out of the car. Before he could steady himself, the car drove away.
...
After playing with the children in the study for a while, Sophia came out, and Vincent prepared a bottle of red wine, walking out of the kitchen with two tall glasses in hand.
He raised the glass, "Shall we have a drink?"
"Mmm." Sophia walked over, and the two sat at the bar near the window, admiring the night view outside.
"It's been five years, and you finally want to come back to China," Vincent looked at Sophia's beautiful side profile and felt warmth in his heart.
As a doctor, he was often too busy, and could only go to M country once a year. Now that Sophia could come back to China, he was truly happy.
"It wasn't my choice, Gabriel forcefully brought me back."
"What!" Vincent almost dropped the glass in his hand. He looked at Sophia in shock and asked, "What are you going to do next?"
"I don't want to see him, but it's useless. I can only follow his lead and see what he plans to do. Once I handle the matters between him and me, I will take Ethan and Emma back to M country."
"Later, I will never come back." Vincent's expression changed when he heard this. Deep down, he really hoped that Sophia would return to the country, but he knew he couldn't stop her.
"Alright, whatever you need help with, just let me know."
"Hmm, I might disturb you during this period." Sophia smiled at him, with a hint of warmth in her smile, completely different from her coldness when facing Gabriel.
Vincent had helped her a lot in the past, allowing her to have a new life. She was deeply grateful to this man, and because of that, she had made him the godfather of her children. Vincent also treated Ethan and Emma very well.
He would visit them in M country every year and stay with them for a while, playing with the two children. This also comforted Sophia's guilt for the fatherly love that the children lacked.
The two of them chatted and laughed while enjoying a drink, but the doorbell rang at this moment. "Someone is visiting you so late. Could it be..." Sophia ambiguously guessed.
Vincent immediately denied, "I'm still single." With that, he quickly went to open the door to see who it was. As soon as the door opened, Gabriel's dark and handsome face became even darker and more serious.
His eyes shot cold arrows as he glanced at Vincent. "Where's Sophia?" Sophia dared to come find another man! Unnamed anger surged up in him.
Without waiting for Vincent to speak, Gabriel pushed him aside and strode inside. "Sophia!" Sophia, who was sipping her wine, paused for a moment, only thinking of cursing in her heart.
But she just turned around, as if she hadn't seen Gabriel. Her disregard made Gabriel itch with anger. He walked up to take her away, seemingly deciding that he needed to lock her up to keep her in line.
"Mr. Lancaster, this is my home. Please leave!"
Vincent quickly stepped forward to protect Sophia.
