Chapter 702 Offense

Aragorn had arranged to have dinner with the Mitchell family, but he couldn't find Nicholas, so he waited for him in Nicholas's office.

Ashley tried to persuade him earnestly.

"Aragorn, Nicholas already has a daughter. The Mitchell family definitely won't be interested in him, so don't waste your efforts."

"Sometimes I even doubt if Nicholas is really your son."

Aragorn gave Ashley a stern look.

Ashley smacked her lips and said no more.

Gummidge stood silently by Aragorn's side. She also disapproved of Aragorn's actions. At this point, she just wanted Aragorn to reconcile with Nicholas and Nicholas could be happy and healthy.

However, there was nothing she could do but worry.

Paul whistled as he walked in. Seeing the three people inside, he abruptly stopped whistling.

"Uncle, Aunt, Mom, what are you doing here?"

"Where's Nicholas?"

Paul replied, "Nicholas is on a business trip abroad. He'll probably be back in ten days or so."

Aragorn demanded, "Call him back."

They couldn't miss the dinner with the Mitchell family; otherwise, they might not get another chance to meet with them.

Paul replied, "Okay, I'll call him back. But Nicholas went abroad to personally oversee a project so as to help the company recover. If we call him back, the project might run into problems, and then the company..."

Aragorn said, "No need to call him back. Let him focus on his work."

Paul gave a sly glance.

"Okay."

Ashley noticed Paul was lying but didn't expose him.

"The dinner with the Mitchell family can't be canceled. Since Nicholas can't attend, you'll have to go in his place."

"What?"

Paul was dumbfounded. Could he catch up with Nicholas now?

In the evening, Paul tried to find an excuse to escape, but Aragorn had already seen through his intentions and kept an eye on him all afternoon.

"Uncle, I'm going to the restroom," Paul said, trying to escape.

Aragorn snorted, "If you dare leave, I'll call your father immediately."

Paul's scalp tingled, and his feet felt like they were filled with lead. He didn't dare to run.

Ashley came over and whispered, "Just go. When the time comes, do something to resolve this for Nicholas."

Paul's eyes lit up, and he gave Ashley a thumbs-up.

Ashley was brilliant!

Paul immediately smiled and said to Aragorn, "I'll go to the dinner, but I need to get my hair styled and change into some nice clothes."

"No need, you look fine as you are."

Aragorn was afraid he would try to pull a trick.

Around seven o'clock, Aragorn and the others arrived at the restaurant. A few minutes later, the Mitchell family arrived.

"Mr. Mitchell." Aragorn stood up to greet them but stumbled a bit.

Lucas Mitchell quickly helped him up, "Mr. Watson, are you still not feeling well?"

Aragorn smiled awkwardly, "It's an old ailment."

Lucas brought his wife, Seraphina Mitchell. They sat down, and Aragorn looked around and asked, "Is Miss Mitchell not here yet?"

"My daughter is busy with work. She said there was an emergency and she might arrive a bit late."

"I understand. Shall we order first?"

"Sure."

After ordering, Lucas noticed Paul.

Aragorn had only hinted at the idea of a marriage alliance but he hadn't specified which member of the Watson family it would be.

Lucas knew a bit about Nicholas's situation. The marriage between the Watson family and the Wolf family was likely impossible. He had assumed the marriage alliance would involve Nicholas, but he didn't see Nicholas. Instead, there was a young man who looked somewhat like Nicholas.

Lucas had investigated the Watson family members and figured that this young man was probably the son of Aragorn's sister.

Lucas and Aragorn chatted about business matters, while Seraphina talked with Ashley. Gummidge, on his chest, didn't join any conversation.

Paul picked at his nails boredly.

The food was served, but Lucas's daughter still hadn't arrived. Aragorn couldn't help but ask again.

"Call Christina and check on her," Lucas said to Seraphina.

Seraphina went out to make a call.

After about ten more minutes, Christina finally arrived.

A waiter led her into the private room.

Christina was wearing a T-shirt and jeans, with no makeup and her hair tied in a ponytail. She looked very ordinary, not like a wealthy heiress at all.

As soon as she entered, she apologized, "Sorry I'm late."

Seraphina lovingly pulled her over.

"Come sit down and greet the elders."

Christina politely said, "Mr. Watson, Mrs. Watson."

Seeing Ashley, she didn't know what to call her.

Ashley said, "Call me Ms. Watson."

"Ms. Watson."

Then she glanced at Paul and exclaimed, "It's you!"

Paul also recognized Christina and thought, 'What a coincidence!'

Ashley's eyes lit up and asked, "You two know each other?"

Christina remembered the purpose of today's dinner. So, the person she was supposed to meet was this handsome but seemingly unreliable rich young man?

No way, he already had a child and a wife, yet he was here for a blind date?

How could her parents find such a man? Even if they were eager for her to get married, they shouldn't be this desperate.

Christina's face immediately turned cold. She stood up, pointed at Paul, and said seriously to her parents, "Mom, Dad, do you know who he is?"

Paul's mind was filled with questions.

Christina said, "He already has a wife!"

Upon hearing this, Lucas's face also turned cold, and he looked sharply at Aragorn.

Seraphina angrily said, "He has a wife and still dares to propose a marriage alliance with our family? Shameless."

She then pulled Lucas up.

"Lucas, let's go. The Watson family is truly despicable. I had my doubts about their characters after learning about their dealings with the Wolf family, but you didn't believe me. Now they must think that woman can't bring them any benefits, so they want to switch to another family for a marriage alliance."

Aragorn hadn't figured out what was going on yet when the Mitchell family quickly left.

Ashley was also confused. She then turned to Paul with a sharp look.

"You have a wife?"

Paul awkwardly said, "I swear, if I have a wife, I'll get hit by a car when I step out."

Ashley said, "Shut up."

"What's going on?" Aragorn was so angry that his chest hurt, looking like he might faint at any moment.

Paul innocently said, "I don't know either."

After leaving, Christina kept telling Lucas and Seraphina about Paul.

"He even has a child. The child is in our hospital. He had just undergone a heart transplant. I've met his wife, but she hasn't visited the child even once. I don't know if he only wants the child and not the wife."

Listening to this, Lucas was angry.

Aragorn was despicable. He dared to scheme against the Mitchell family. He was almost fooled by him!

Christina, determined never to go on another blind date, exaggerated many of Paul's vicious matters.

She felt no guilt about this because Paul was indeed an irresponsible man. He had a wife and child yet still went on a blind date.

Aragorn's plan backfired, and he actually offended the Mitchell family.
