Chapter 22: Giving Birth with Tiffany

The two little ones safely returned home with Ethan and Emma erasing all traces of their venture outside, as if nothing had happened. Sophia wouldn't even notice when she returned. At this moment, Sophia and Jake Hughes were sitting in a milk tea shop.
"Today, let me treat you to a cup of milk tea. I'll treat you to a meal another day," Jake Hughessaid.
Others might have been saved from four burly men, and a cup of milk tea would certainly not be enough to show her gratitude. But Sophia had to hurry back to cook for the two precious ones, so she couldn't treat him to a meal today.
"Okay," Jake Hughes happily agreed.
After returning to the country, he had been worried about how to find her. And now, he coincidentally saw her being bullied. It was as if the heavens themselves wanted him to appear by her side.
"Then can I add you on WeChat? Let me know when you're free?" Sophia cautiously asked.
Jake Hughes's heart blossomed with joy. He quickly took out his phone and opened the QR code for her to scan. When her friend request came, he immediately approved it and added a note: "Sister Kelly
."
After exchanging contact information, Sophia proposed to go back.
"I'll walk you home," Jake Hughes also stood up.
"No need, I'm fine and can go back by myself. Thank you so much for today," Sophia declined.
"Alright." Jake Hughes felt a sense of estrangement from Sophia, which left him quite disappointed.
She truly didn't remember him. Well, after all, she only saw him as a passing stranger, but from now on, he didn't want to be just a passerby in her life.
The two separated at the entrance of the mall. Sophia went back to the kindergarten where the four bodyguards were no longer present. It was already dark, and the kindergarten was desolate. Her clothes were also nowhere to be found.
Presumably, they had been thrown away like trash. Sophia turned around dejectedly, forget it, she would just make a new set of clothes.
This time, she had to come up with a solution. Damn Gabriel, he sent so many bodyguards and even wanted to hit her.
That despicable man! She thought.
Sophia mentally noted down another grievance against Gabriel.
She was thinking about things while rushing forward, not paying attention, and accidentally bumped into a pedestrian.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry," Sophia quickly apologized. When she raised her head, she saw Gabriel with a grimace on his face.
Sophia stepped back several steps, disgusted. But this action only made Gabriel even more furious.
Did this woman really treat him like trash whenever she saw him? Was he that despicable?
His self-esteem played a role, causing him to take a step closer to her.
"What do you want, Gabriel?" Sophia was almost forced to step into the road.
"I warned you not to appear in front of Sam recklessly, and especially not to say that you are his mother. Did you completely ignore my words?" Gabriel was full of anger, his deep black eyes filled with resentment.
If Sam's condition worsened because of this, Sophia would be even more guilty!
Sophia smiled. She fearlessly met Gabriel's angry gaze and calmly said, "Firstly, I am Sam's biological mother, and I have the right to see my son. Secondly For Sam's sake, I will not hastily acknowledge him, but you have no right to stop me from seeing him."
This dog of a man sent so many bodyguards to attack a frail woman, just to prevent her from seeing her son, and on top of that, he had the audacity to warn her, as if she were made of dough!
"Furthermore, I reserve the right to pursue the actions your bodyguards took against me today."
Sophia spoke eloquently, leaving Gabriel momentarily stunned.
This woman, with such a fierce presence, was just too good at speaking. She managed to leave him speechless. It seemed like she had a valid point.
"I apologize for what happened today, it wasn't my intention..." Gabriel's discomfort momentarily flashed across his face.
He had only instructed David to protect Sam and prevent Sophia from approaching him, but not to add more bodyguards, let alone allow violence towards Sophia.
But this incident had occurred because of him, because Tiffany had misunderstood and added extra personnel. Those people were also reckless, thinking that Sophia intended harm to Sam, hence their assault on her, as a way to teach her a lesson.
All of this Gabriel had already learned just now.
"Hmph, stop pretending. If it wasn't your intention, then was it the selfishness of your subordinates that wanted to teach me a lesson? But what have I done to harm them?" Sophia coldly mocked.
Gabriel clenched his fist, their figures elongated by the lamplight, the cold wind blowing, dissipating half of his inner irritability.
The two stood almost at a standoff, and after half a minute, Gabriel gritted his teeth. "I never expected that my ex-wife would be such a sharp-tongued and unyielding person!"
"In your eyes, there is only your Tiffany, so how could you notice what kind of person I am? You don't even care about your son's education, allowing him to be bullied at kindergarten."
Thinking of that incident, Sophia was so infuriated she wanted to beat up this dog of a man.
"What bullying?" Gabriel appeared puzzled. When was Sam bullied at kindergarten?
He frequently called the kindergarten teachers, and Tiffany often picked up Sam. She even attended parent-teacher meetings and participated in parent-child activities on behalf of Sam. If someone had bullied Sam, it would surely be the first thing he heard about.
"Heh, if you don't want to take care of him, then give Sam to me, and you and Tiffany can go have another child." Sophia felt that Gabriel was hypocritical and heartless.
"I don't know what you're talking about. Sam is doing fine at kindergarten, and he has never told me about being bullied. Don't go stirring up trouble." Gabriel grew tired of Sophia's unyielding demeanor.
She had faked her death and abandoned Sam for five years, and now she wanted to take him away. That was impossible!
"If you don't believe me, go check for yourself. The kindergarten's surveillance can't lie. Two days ago, after school, Sam was inexplicably pushed to the ground by a classmate. And Tiffany! Your virtuous girlfriend, not only did she not help Sam seek justice, but she even blamed Sam for everything." Sophia's voice grew scarlett with undertones of anger.
Fierce and overwhelmed with emotion, Sophia couldn't help but raise her voice: "You keep saying that I don't deserve to be Sam's mommy. But what about you? Are you worthy of being his daddy?"
Her questioning hit Gabriel hard. Indeed, he was unworthy because ever since Sam was born, he had been busy working, leaving Sam at the old mansion with little companionship, to the extent that he didn't even notice the prelude to Sam's autism.
Many things were taken care of for him by Tiffany. Gabriel turned his back, not wanting to show his inner emotions in front of Sophia. Cars came and went on the road, and people occasionally passed by on the sidewalk.
They glanced curiously at the two of them standing on the side of the road, then slowly walked away. After a minute, Gabriel's indifferent yet stern voice reached Sophia: "I will investigate what you said. If it's false, Sophia, you'll have to deal with the consequences."
Sophia knew that it was impossible to make Gabriel return Sam to her today. She would have to proceed with caution.
"I will continue to see Sam. If you dare to stop me again, I can't guarantee what I will do." With these words, she turned and walked away.
