Chapter 655 Taking the Initiative to Contact

Colin's nod made Sophia tear up with joy. She got up and gave Sam another big hug.

"Sam, thanks for accepting us."

Emma clapped her hands. "That's awesome, Sam, you're doing so much better."

Ethan gave Sam a reassuring pat on the shoulder, like a grown-up.

Colin watched the scene with a smile, feeling his worries melt away.

Tiffany's actions were just the spark; Sam's autism had already been improving thanks to his family's support.

But it was that spark that made Sam finally open up and start talking to everyone around him.

Gabriel brought in a bunch of burgers and fries, and the three kids quickly devoured the rare treat.

Even though Sam was willing to talk now, he was still pretty reserved and didn't speak much, keeping his cool demeanor.

Despite that, Sophia and Gabriel were over the moon.

Since Sam's body was still a bit weak, he needed to stay in the hospital for another day for observation.

Ruth and Celeste had to be told, so by evening, they knew what was going on.

They rushed to the hospital despite being told not to, and only felt relieved after seeing Sam was okay.

"Great-grandma Blackwood, Great-grandma Lancaster," Sam called out sweetly.

Ruth and Celeste looked equally surprised.

"Sam, you're talking?"

Sam nodded, "Yeah."

"Sam, good boy, you finally spoke." Ruth hugged Sam, and she and Celeste cried tears of joy together.

Feeling their joy, Sam's cheeks turned bright red.

Tiffany was held at the police station, and no matter how much they grilled her, she wouldn't admit to kidnapping Sam.

"I didn't kidnap him; I just took him out to play. The elevator broke down, and he got stuck inside. I was just about to find someone to fix it when you guys showed up."

The cop was stern. "Taking him to a dangerous abandoned construction site to play? Who are you trying to fool? Come clean already!"

Tiffany put on a pitiful look, her eyes welling up with tears. "Sir, I really didn't."

Outside the interrogation room, Gabriel stood with a grim expression.

The evidence was clear; they had seen Tiffany lock Sam in the elevator. Even with that, she still wouldn't admit her crime.

Dylan had already confessed that it was Tiffany who locked Sam in the elevator back then, hurting him. He had taken a large sum of money from Tiffany to cover it up and erase all traces.

Since then, Tiffany had set Dylan up with Marlowe and opened a beauty salon with them to make money. As they earned more, he got greedy and started revealing Gabriel's information to Tiffany. When Gabriel saw Sophia alive in Country M, it was Dylan who tipped off Tiffany first.

Even after that, Tiffany often threatened Sam, scaring him into thinking that if he told Gabriel about those things, Gabriel would despise and abandon him.

Listening to this, Gabriel staggered again.

Gabriel once again deeply realized how unqualified he was as a father. Sam had been so hurt by Tiffany, who was right by his side, yet he knew nothing.

The police pressed, "Did you kill Alfred?"

Tiffany looked confused. "Wasn't Alfred killed by Raskolnikov? What does it have to do with me? I didn't kill him."

"Then what is this?"

The police took out a recording, which was a conversation of Tiffany instructing Raskolnikov to kill Alfred.Tiffany's face twisted in anger.

"Who's trying to frame me? Is it Sophia? She must've faked this recording to set me up!"

The recording was legit, and she knew that conversation all too well. She just couldn't figure out how it got recorded.

The cop pressed on, "You bribed Raskolnikov to kill Alfred, then made him take the fall, using his mom to push him into suicide. Here's the proof of your transfer to Raskolnikov's mother. What do you have to say about that?"

"No, I didn't, it's all fake, all your assumptions."

The cop said, "Raskolnikov opened a safety deposit box in his mom's name. This recording was in that box, along with evidence of various illegal activities between you and Raskolnikov."

Despite Tiffany's denials, the cops laid out the evidence piece by piece, leaving her no room to argue.

In the end, Tiffany still claimed the evidence was fake.

After the interrogation, Gabriel asked to see Tiffany.

Tiffany hung her head, looking defeated.

She felt exhausted, her mind buzzing, her mouth opening and closing, muttering softly, "I didn't, it wasn't me, it's all fake."

"Tiffany." Gabriel's voice cut through her muttering.

Tiffany looked up in surprise, her eyes red and puffy. She looked a mess, her usual glamour gone, her hair disheveled, looking like she was about to lose it.

"Gabriel, are you here to save me?" Tiffany was still in denial.

Gabriel wanted to strangle Tiffany, but he couldn't. The law would take care of her.

He clenched his fists tightly, holding back his rage.

"Who's behind you?" Gabriel got straight to the point, not wanting to waste words.

Tiffany was stunned for a moment, then let out a silly laugh. "What are you talking about? The man behind me is you."

Gabriel's face darkened, his sharp gaze making Tiffany feel a chill run down her spine.

Tiffany shivered, lowering her head, not daring to meet Gabriel's eyes.

She knew who Gabriel was asking about, but that person was her biggest bargaining chip.

Tiffany thought, 'If I can contact that person, he'll definitely save me. After all, I'm still useful to him.'

Thinking of this, Tiffany's dead heart reignited with hope.

'Yes, he's powerful; he can definitely save me!'

"You know exactly who I'm talking about. If you tell me what I want to know, I might be able to ask the judge to go easy on you," Gabriel said coldly.

Tiffany shot back, "I don't know what you're talking about. From beginning to end, I've only had you."

Seeing that Tiffany wouldn't budge, Gabriel didn't bother to say more and got up to leave.

"Gabriel," Tiffany called out, but Gabriel didn't stop.

"Gabriel, I love you. I really didn't do anything, Gabriel."

Leaving the police station, Gabriel's fists were still clenched.

"Keep a close watch on Tiffany, especially the people she tries to contact."

Judging by Tiffany's demeanor, she would definitely try to contact the person behind her to save her.

Gabriel didn't expect to get any useful info from Tiffany during this visit.

He was just reminding Tiffany that she had someone behind her. As long as Tiffany didn't want to die, she would definitely try to reach out to that person.
