Chapter 24: Illness

The child is named Sam, and he is the son of Gabriel, the person Emma's mother dislikes the most.
But why would Mom make clothes for the son of someone who bullies her, Is it just because he cannot speak?
The information only mentions that Sam cannot talk, without any other details.
"He is mute, but even a mute person should not bully my mom," Emma clenched her little fists, filled with righteous indignation.
"Ethan, let's go to kindergarten tomorrow and teach him a lesson."
"Tomorrow is the weekend," Ethan reminded her.
"Then next Monday, we will sneak out and teach him a lesson!"
Hmph, daring to bully her mom, she will make him realize that she, Emma, is the Great Demon King!
Ethan:…
Ethan looked up more information and found out that this child named Sam has no friends and rarely goes out. Wherever he goes, he always has bodyguards with him.
Ethan inexplicably became curious about Sam and couldn't help but search for more information about Gabriel. Back when he was abroad, he could only find limited information, but now that he's back in the country, he could access more.
Ethan came across a rumor about Gabriel from many years ago. It was rumored that Gabriel had been secretly married for many years, but his wife died in childbirth, and soon after, he appeared with a new lover...
Ethan treated it as gossip and finished reading without delving deeper. He continued to search for some clues to unravel the enmity between Mom and Gabriel.
Gabriel bullied Mom when they were abroad, and now Mom is making clothes for Sam. Moreover, Sam's age is the same as Ethan and Emma's, and their birthdays are even on the same day. It's all too much of a coincidence.
Something flashed through his mind, too fast for Ethan to grasp. Emma shouted for him to play games with her as she was about to participate in a competition. This interrupted Ethan's train of thought, and reluctantly, he accompanied her in practice.
By the time Sophia finished her work, the two children had already bathed and obediently laid in bed, ready to sleep. Two iPads were left on the edge of the bed, which Sophia picked up and put away helplessly.
After taking a shower, she didn't rush to sleep but took out her laptop to work. Since she had decided to stay, she needed to find a job to support herself and the children.
Having a stable income would also be beneficial for her to fight for custody of Sam. However, there were few major fashion companies in the city of B. The leading industries in city B were technology and the internet, while fashion was more favored in the city of Z.
The Lancaster Group was a leading company in the technology industry and had expanded its business into other areas in recent years.
One subsidiary had entered the fashion industry and established more than a dozen clothing brands, all of which had gained great reputation.
In the city of B, the clothing company under the Lancaster Group was already at the top. If it wasn't Gabriel's company, Sophia would undoubtedly choose to work at Lancaster without hesitation.
After all, a large platform would be more advantageous for her growth. Sophia skipped the job advertisement from Lancaster Group.
Recruiting information, let's move on to something else.
This weekend, Sophia accompanied the children to have a joyful outing in half of City B. The two children chattered happily the whole time. Of course, it was Emma who was chattering away, while Ethan remained cool, arms crossed, not saying a word.
In the president's office of the Lancaster Building, Alex reported the recent information he had received to Gabriel.
"Madam has handled her domestic household registration and ID card. It seems she intends to stay in the country."
Gabriel brought Sophia back to the country and prohibited her from leaving again. Naturally, when she was handling the procedures for these relevant documents, there would be people who would voluntarily pass on this information.
"Madam?" Tiffany's voice suddenly rang out abruptly.
Gabriel was working overtime at the company today, and she came specifically to accompany him. Gabriel didn't ask her to leave when Alex came in to report, so Alex had no choice but to report these situations in front of Tiffany.
Alex glanced at Gabriel and saw that he didn't have any particular expression. After hesitating for a moment, he offered an explanation, "I just said it out of habit."
Tiffany felt a bit displeased. She had been by Gabriel's side for so many years, and she had never heard Alex call her "Madam".
Sophia had been abroad for five years and had just reappeared, yet Alex could still address her as "Madam".
She lowered her head, struggling to control the distortion of her expression.
"Assistant Alex, you don't have to call me that anymore, to avoid any misunderstandings." Tiffany's voice sounded cold and trembling due to her restrained emotions.
Gabriel still didn't say anything, but he tacitly agreed with Tiffany's words. Alex responded, "I will be more careful in the future."
Tiffany felt a bit relieved and no longer interrupted their conversation about work.
Alex didn't have much more information to report regarding Sophia. Judging by Gabriel's attitude, it seemed he wasn't paying as much attention to Sophia anymore. Alex breathed a sigh of relief.
To be honest, he also felt that since the two of them had developed to this point, it would be better to let things take their natural course and treat each other as if they didn't exist, wishing each other well.
At this moment, Gabriel's phone, which was placed on the table, suddenly vibrated. He glanced at it and saw that it was a call from the old mansion.
Thinking that he still had some time, he answered the call.
After a few seconds, his expression drastically changed, and he stood up abruptly without even bringing his coat, grabbing the car keys and leaving.
"Inform Alfred to go to the old mansion."
Alex's face changed, and he instantly understood that young master must have had another episode.
"Gabriel." Tiffany hurriedly followed along.
The old mansion was in chaos at the moment. When Gabriel left in the morning, Sam was still asleep. Later, Madam asked Aunt Liu to call Sam downstairs for a meal, but Sam became unresponsive and ignored Mrs. Lancaster when she spoke to him.
After an hour, Sam locked himself in the bathroom and refused to come out no matter who spoke to him.
Madam was anxiously pacing outside the door. This situation hasn't happened in a year, why did it suddenly happen again?
Gabriel hurriedly rushed back, with Tiffany following behind.
"Gabriel, you finally came back." Mrs. Lancaster instantly found her backbone.
"What about Sam?"
"He's inside." Madam pointed to the bathroom door.
Gabriel walked over and twisted the doorknob, but it wouldn't budge.
"The key?"
"Here's the key." Aunt Liu handed the key to Gabriel.
Gabriel tried it, and the lock turned, but the door was being blocked from the inside. He tried to hit it, but he couldn't even create a gap to see what was happening inside.
"Sam, your father is back, come out quickly." Mrs. Lancaster was so anxious she was on the verge of tears.
"Madam, please don't worry, Dr. Alfred will be here soon." Tiffany tactfully comforted and tried to lend support to Mrs. Lancaster.
Mrs. Lancaster briskly shook off her hand, her face immediately darkened. "Why are you here?"
She didn't like Tiffany. It was this woman who had destroyed the relationship between her grandson and his wife, causing her daughter-in-law's death from complications during childbirth.
A flash of displeasure quickly crossed Tiffany's eyes. Over the years, she had wanted Gabriel to bring her into the Lancaster family several times, but this old woman had always meddled and prevented her from entering the gates of the Lancaster family estate.
Today, Gabriel had left in a hurry, and she hurriedly followed him onto the car, tagging along like this.
