Chapter 9

Unfortunately, Gabriel had no conscience. He was determined to take her back to his country.
"Then I'll throw her into the sea to feed the fish." Gabriel lightly pointed his finger, and the men in black dragged Leana to the edge of the railing, as if prepared to throw her over. Leana turned pale with fear and screamed.
"Gabriel, this is illegal!"
"I'll count to three, and her life or death will be in your hands." Gabriel turned around, leaving her with a tall yet indifferent figure.
He spoke so casually, but Sophia felt as though she was in agony. She knew that Gabriel could say and do anything.
"Gabriel, you bastard!" Sophia cursed loudly.
Gabriel's expression grew darker as he uttered a number: "One."
As Scarlett's voice fell, Leana was pressed against the railing, her head already hanging out, desperately casting a pleading gaze at Sophia.
The crew members were being held back by the men in black, only able to watch helplessly.
Sophia rushed over anxiously, attempting to save Leana, but she was also restrained by two men in black. She struggled with all her might.
"Gabriel, don't you love your White Moonlight, she referenced Tiffany. You want to bring me back to your country, aren't you afraid she'll get jealous and cause trouble for you?"
"Two."
Gabriel took a step forward, ready to leave.
Just as the final word "three" was about to escape, Sophia shouted, "I'm going with you!"
The black-clad men released Leana, and she stumbled over to embrace Sophia.
"Thank you, Scarlett," Leana said, holding Sophia tightly. "You are my savior."
"It's my fault that you got hurt," Sophia said, speaking in a voice that only Scarlett and she could hear. "Can you help me contact Caroline?" And finally, she added, "Tell Caroline to take care of the two children."
Leana nodded.
The roar of a helicopter resonated above their heads as Sophia followed Gabriel up, and as the cabin door closed, the black-clad men swiftly retreated.
The helicopter grew farther and farther from the ground, and Sophia slowly withdrew her gaze. She stared blankly at a certain spot, with Gabriel sitting beside her, engrossed in reading a document on his iPad.
After five years, they sat peacefully together for the first time, at a close distance. She could smell the familiar fragrance emanating from him.
Sophia closed her eyes and quietly shifted away from Gabriel, putting some distance between them.
Gabriel noticed this little movement and frowned, feeling displeased.
Was this woman finding him repulsive?
Ha, it should be him finding her repulsive, right?
Gabriel also moved aside a bit.
Neither of them spoke, seemingly devoid of anything to say. Sophia rested her eyes, contemplating how to arrange things once they returned to the country.
From the looks of Gabriel, he clearly hadn't discovered the existence of the two children. But he would definitely ask, and she couldn't allow the children to appear in front of Gabriel once they returned. If Gabriel were to find out, he would surely take the children away.
With his temperament, he might not even let her see them again.
Therefore, once they returned to the country, she needed to find a way to quickly rid herself of Gabriel. Speaking of which, she was "dead," so did Gabriel not marry Tiffany?
Tiffany probably wouldn't want her to still be alive either. So, it seemed that she had a good chance of severing ties with Gabriel.
Once Sophia sorted all this out in her mind, she felt at ease and quickly fell asleep.
The helicopter flew directly to the hotel where Gabriel was staying. After it stopped, Gabriel opened the cabin door and turned to look at Sophia, only to find that she had fallen asleep.
Gabriel frowned, his gaze falling on the bruise clearly visible on Sophia's wrist.
"Boss," Alex was waiting below.
"Wake her up and then lock her up," Gabriel said coldly, before confidently walking into the hotel.
Alex and the bodyguard exchanged glances before reluctantly going up to wake Sophia.
"Madam, we have arrived."
Gabriel disappeared, leaving only Alex and a few bodyguards. She followed Alex into the hotel, fully cooperative.
After leading her to a VIP room and about to leave, Alex was stopped by Sophia.
"Is Gabriel married?" Sophia asked.
Alex didn't expect her to ask this question, but there was nothing wrong with answering truthfully.
"No."
"He's not with Tiffany?" Sophia's eyes widened in surprise.
Back then, Sophia had heard with her own ears that Gabriel was willing to divorce her for Tiffany. Gabriel liked Tiffany, so how could he not marry her?
"Miss Foster has been by the boss's side all these years."
Sophia nodded and smiled at Alex. "Oh, I see. Thank you."
"You're welcome."
Alex left, closing the door behind him. However, not long after, someone knocked on the door and came in to deliver a tube of cream for reducing bruises.
Sophia sat on the soft sofa, staring at the tube of cream for a while before applying it to her wrist. She then laid down, closed her eyes, and let her mind wander. Soon, she fell asleep.
She hadn't slept well for two days.
...
"Gabriel, are you sure you don't want me to come and accompany you?" Tiffany's voice came through the phone, gentle and concerned.
"No, I'll be back in the country soon," Gabriel replied indifferently.
He kept his phone open, simultaneously talking on the phone and replying to emails.
"Okay, take care of yourself and don't overwork."
"I know."
"You're busy, I'll hang up now."
"Okay."
Reluctantly, Tiffany hung up the phone, and immediately, her face went from reluctance to a dark cloud of sadness.
Tiffany tightly held onto her phone, her newly done nails getting broken as she did so.
"Sophia!" she pronounced the name, her eyes filled with resentment.
Why would someone who was already dead still appear! and to make the situation worse Gabriel didn't even tell her when he called just now, she found out unintentionally through other means.
The more Tiffany thought about it, the more uneasy she felt. She took out her phone to book a flight ticket, but stopped at the last moment.
Gabriel was with her now, the woman by his side was her. So what if Sophia was alive, Gabriel didn't love her, Tiffany was the ultimate winner here. Why rush?
Going to M country at this time might make Gabriel unhappy. Anyway, he would come back as soon as he finished his business.
As long as she held Sam firmly in her hands, Sophia's return would not cause any big waves.
Realizing this, Tiffany became less anxious and didn't even regard Sophia as a threat.
An appearance of someone who had already died would only arouse suspicion.
...
Sophia woke up feeling hungry. She had a nightmare but couldn't quite remember it. She washed her face to calm down her trembling heart, then covered her grumbling stomach and opened the door, intending to find something to eat.
But as soon as she opened the door, she saw two bodyguards standing outside, blocking her way.
"What are you doing?" Sophia's face darkened.
Was Gabriel imprisoning her?
"Sorry, the boss told us to keep an eye on you. We can't let you run away, otherwise we'll lose our jobs," the bodyguard said seriously, without any room for negotiation.
"I'm hungry. I want to go eat," Sophia shouted.
"I'll have a waiter bring you food," he said.
Sophia slammed the door shut, realizing that as a weak woman, she couldn't handle two muscular men. She could only go back to her room feeling angry. She saw the phone lying there and thought about calling Caroline, but she worried about being monitored by Gabriel so she had to restrain herself.
She didn't even know if Caroline had received the children. Unfortunately, her phone was left in the cabin.
They must be worried not being able to see her when they woke up, would they be afraid? Sophia worried.
In the past five years, she had never been separated from her children for more than a day. Now that she was imprisoned by Gabriel, she wouldn't be able to see them for a short period of time.
No, she had to find a way to contact Caroline.
A few minutes later, a waiter came in to deliver the meal. Sophia glanced at the two bodyguards outside, lowered her voice and said a few words to the waiter, who initially hesitated but eventually handed her a phone.
Grateful, Sophia clasped her hands together, then went into the bathroom and quickly dialed Caroline's number.
"Hello, Caroline, it's me."
Caroline's worried voice came through the phone, "Sophia, where are you? How are you?"
"I'm fine, Caroline, listen to me."
"Okay, go ahead." Was Caroline’s reply.
"Gabriel has me with him.”
"Next, he will take me back to the country. I can't avoid it this time, and I don't know when I can resolve my matters with him. I can't leave Ethan and Emma alone in M country. I can only trouble you to arrange for them to go back to the country. You just need to take them to the plane, and I have friends in the country to pick them up."
"Okay, no problem," Caroline immediately agreed.
"Have they caused any trouble?" Sophia quickly asked, her mouth feeling a bit dry and she was very worried about the two children.
"Emma cried for a while because she couldn't find you, but she's asleep now. Ethan is fine."
Upon hearing this, Sophia's mind already painted a picture of Emma crying inconsolably when she couldn't find her. Her heart ached.
"I'll talk to Ethan."
Caroline handed the phone to Ethan.
"Mommy, where are you?" Ethan's worried voice immediately came through.
