Chapter 653 Panic
Right now, Ethan and Emma couldn't risk running into any more trouble, or else Sophia would totally lose it.
Ethan figured he could keep hacking into the bad guys' network and track down Sam's location.
So, they needed to blend back into the crowd, making it tougher for the bad guys to single them out.
Emma and Ethan sprinted over to the teacher and told her Sam was missing.
The teacher's face went white, and she quickly called the principal.
To keep everyone calm, the sports event went on, but some teachers and the principal started searching for Sam and checking the surveillance footage.
Gabriel got to the school before Sophia, and Emma ran straight into Sophia's arms.
"Mommy, Sam's gone. He said he was going to the bathroom, and now we can't find him," Emma sobbed.
Sophia was freaking out but tried to stay calm for Emma.
She hugged Emma tight and whispered, "Sam's gonna be okay. Daddy and Mommy are here, and the police will be here soon. We'll find him, I promise."
Emma nodded, tears streaming down her face, and sat quietly next to Ethan, trying not to distract Gabriel and Sophia.
Gabriel was all business, barking orders and sending every bodyguard out to find Sam, leaving no stone unturned.
After what felt like forever, Ethan suddenly jumped up.
"Here!"
They found themselves at a half-finished construction site, the place giving off a creepy vibe.
The building was twenty stories high, with two temporary elevators for the workers. But since construction had stopped, everything was moldy and rusty from the rain, and the air smelled awful.
Faint cries were coming from one of the elevators.
Tiffany stood at the elevator door, arms crossed, her pretty face twisted with anger.
"Sam," she called softly, her voice sickly sweet, "you've been very naughty, so I have to punish you."
"Your daddy doesn't want me anymore, so I had no choice but to bring you here."
"Do you know why your daddy hates me?"
"It's all because of your mommy. She's a bad woman. She took your daddy away from me."
"I could have been your mommy, but she's still alive and stopping me."
Inside the dark elevator, Sam screamed, his voice full of terror.
His tiny hands pounded on the elevator door.
Tiffany kept going, "Because you were naughty, your daddy and mommy don't want you anymore. They said they want you to stay in this little dark room forever."
There was no light in the elevator, and in the dimness, Sam's strength faded, and he collapsed to the ground.
His eyes were wide with fear, his forehead sweaty, and he lay there trembling.
He didn't believe his daddy and mommy didn't want him. They always said they'd love him forever, and Ethan and Emma promised they'd always be together. They were triplets; they'd never be apart.
Sam silently cried out in his heart, 'Ethan, where are you?'
'Emma, you're probably crying, right?'
'Daddy, Mommy, please come save me. I'm so scared.'
Sam curled up into a ball, tears falling and soaking into his hair."Mommy, Daddy," Sam's pale lips barely moved, "Ethan, Emma."
Suddenly, Sam started gasping for air, but the oxygen in the elevator was running out fast.
Tiffany, hearing the silence inside, peeked through the crack in the door. Seeing Sam weakly curled up on the ground, she panicked for a moment.
But she quickly pulled herself together.
She looked around; her men were guarding from a distance, and she was the only one here.
She imagined how heartbroken Sophia would be if Sam died here.
Thinking of that scene, the malice in Tiffany's heart grew wildly.
She stood quietly in place, a slight smile on her lips, feeling immense satisfaction.
Her phone rang, but she didn't notice. She was so lost in the thought of Sophia's impending pain.
She also didn't notice someone approaching.
It wasn't until Gabriel and the police arrived on that floor that Tiffany snapped out of it, looking at Gabriel in terror.
"Gabriel. You... I..." Tiffany stammered, panicking.
Gabriel clenched his fists and rushed forward, his eyes bloodshot, grabbing Tiffany by the throat.
"Where's Sam!"
Tiffany's face turned red instantly.
"Let go... of me..." Tiffany struggled to pry Gabriel's hand away.
Gabriel lifted her up forcefully.
His eyes were blazing with rage, the veins on the back of his hand bulging. He wanted to strangle Tiffany to death right then and there!
"Here!" The police began prying open the elevator door.
Gabriel threw Tiffany to the ground and quickly moved forward, peering through the crack to see Sam's small figure inside. He gasped, his voice trembling.
"Sam, Daddy's here, Sam."
"Sam!" Sophia rushed over, almost crawling, frantically trying to open the elevator door.
"Sam, don't be afraid. Mommy's here. Sam, don't sleep, Sam."
Seeing Sam lying inside, Sophia's emotions started to collapse, and Gabriel had to hold her back.
"Let the police open the door first."
After Gabriel restrained Sophia, the police quickly opened the door. Sophia immediately broke free from Gabriel and rushed to pick up Sam.
"Sam."
Sam's eyelids drooped, his body still trembling. He seemed to hear Sophia and Gabriel's voice.
Sam was taken to the hospital, and Tiffany was arrested by the police.
Meanwhile, Alex had someone hold Dylan back and then snatched his phone.
Alex checked the sent messages, and there was a message that read: [Run, Mr. Lancaster is coming!]
The recipient's number was Tiffany's.
"Why?" Alex looked at Dylan with deep disappointment.
Dylan had grown up with him, and he thought he knew him very well.
That was why he trusted Dylan, spoke highly of him in front of Gabriel, and even made him the head of the bodyguard team.
Alex mused, 'But it turns out I don't know Dylan at all!'
Alex felt not only disappointment in Dylan but also guilt towards Gabriel.
"Because of money." At this point, Dylan knew he was completely exposed and beyond redemption.
Alex landed a solid punch on Dylan's face, making him see stars.
"Because of money, you betrayed Mr. Lancaster!"
Alex had considered many possibilities but never this one.
Alex cursed inwardly, 'Following Gabriel, the benefits would have been huge, but Dylan is so focused on the quick cash and misses the bigger picture.'
