Chapter 567 Commotion
Katherine didn't spill the beans to Dylan. She kept acting all normal around him, making sure he had no clue she was onto his side chick and their kid.
At first, she was like, "Nah, Sophia's gotta be wrong," but after doing some digging, she was all in on Sophia's story.
Katherine had a rough couple of weeks before she finally set up a meet with Sophia.
By then, Katherine had dropped a ton of weight since their last hangout, and she looked totally worn out.
Sophia was feeling all kinds of mixed emotions.
"Katherine, you gotta take care of yourself. Your two girls still need you big time."
Katherine nodded, "Thanks. If you hadn't told me, I might've never found out."
"If I had only found out when the side chick showed up with the kid, I would've been totally blindsided. I can't even think about what my girls would've done."
Katherine covered her face, on the verge of tears again.
"Katherine, what you need to do now is get enough dirt on Dylan to make him pay for cheating."
Katherine nodded.
She had to be strong for her two girls.
God knows how tough the last couple of weeks had been, dealing with the nausea every night while still sharing a bed with Dylan.
"Oh, and Katherine, do you know if Dylan's done any other shady stuff? You should dig into that too and make that jerk pay!" Sophia said, fuming.
Katherine thought for a sec. "Dylan usually plays it cool. He's nice to people and super generous with his bros and friends. I haven't seen him do anything bad."
"But who knows what he's been up to behind closed doors."
Only now did Katherine realize she didn't really know Dylan at all.
Thinking about it, a wave of sadness hit her.
Sophia's eyes flickered.
'Even Katherine doesn't know? Then I gotta start with Dylan's side chick,' Sophia thought.
"Wait!" Katherine suddenly remembered. "About six years ago, for a couple of days, Dylan was super distracted when he got home. I thought he messed up at work and even tried to cheer him up."
Sophia jumped in, "Did he say anything to you back then?"
Katherine shook her head. "He just said he was too tired."
Sophia stirred her coffee, staring at the table, deep in thought.
Sophia pondered, 'So, if Dylan was really behind it, he met and got involved with Marlowe sometime after that. Then Marlowe opened her salon, with Dylan pulling strings to help her, using Tiffany's connections.'
Sophia was almost sure Dylan was involved in the incident where Sam was threatened.
Even if Dylan wasn't the mastermind, he was a major player.
But just based on Katherine's words, they couldn't nail Dylan.
She needed solid evidence.
Sophia furrowed her brows.
Katherine was also thinking, trying to recall any other sketchy behavior from Dylan. The more she thought about it, the more she realized Dylan had been acting weird over the past two years, but it was probably all tied to his side chick.
The more she thought about it, the more she realized she'd been so focused on her girls that she hadn't noticed Dylan's odd behavior earlier.
An hour later, Sophia was back at Fusion Dynamics Corporation.
At the Lancaster Group, Gabriel got back to his office after a meeting, grabbed his phone, and thought about hitting up Sophia.
He told Alex, "I'm worried Desmond can't handle protecting the three kids on his own. Alex, get a few more solid bodyguards, vet them, and then let me see."
Alex looked confused. "Didn't Miss Kelly say to have Dylan and Desmond protect the kids together?"
Gabriel looked up. "When did she say that?"
"About half a month ago."
Gabriel squinted, thinking. "Got it. I'll ask her about it. You go ahead and screen the others."
"On it!"
Alex left, and Gabriel rubbed his chin.
Dylan wasn't exactly the guy you'd trust with kids. Sure, he was big and strong, but he had a lot of shady stuff going on.
He didn't expect Sophia to suggest having Dylan protect the kids. 'Something's fishy!' Gabriel thought.
Gabriel suddenly remembered Sophia asking him about Dylan and Tiffany's relationship.
'Could it be that Sophia's suspicious of Dylan?' he wondered.
The first person to find Sam was Dylan, and Dylan was Alex's brother. Dylan had been a hard worker at the company for years, and Gabriel had trusted him based on his performance.
So he had never suspected Dylan.
Sophia was secretly digging into this, and no matter what she found, she hadn't told him.
Gabriel leaned back in his chair, rubbing his temples.
Sophia still hadn't thought of relying on him, hadn't trusted him.
He put down the phone he had picked up.
He stared at the chat screen with Sophia for a long time until the screen went dark.
Two days later, Katherine gave Sophia some news.
She was ready to confront Dylan.
Sophia sent an "encouraging" emoji.
Katherine, with a crew, stormed into Marlowe's beauty salon, smashing and trashing everything.
For every branch store, they wrecked one.
Katherine even put up a banner at the store entrance, telling everyone that the owner, Marlowe, was a homewrecker.
The words on the banner were brutal.
Katherine went all out, even renting a massive screen at a nearby mall, playing the story of Dylan and Marlowe on a loop every day.
The incident blew up fast.
Everyone at the Lancaster Group knew about it.
Because Katherine also caused a scene at the company.
Alex had been crazy busy these past two days.
Sophia took this chance to dig into the connection between Tiffany and the beauty salon.
Tiffany had someone hold shares in the beauty salon for her, so she got a fat dividend every year, and no one knew she was linked to the salon.
But that still wasn't enough.
When Katherine met Sophia again, Sophia gave her a thumbs up.
"Katherine, you're a badass."
Katherine was fuming. "I want to destroy him completely to get rid of my anger."
Sophia pulled out a bank card.
"Here, Katherine, take this. I know you might be strapped for cash right now, and you can't touch your joint assets for the time being."
Katherine was stunned for a moment, then looked at Sophia gratefully.
"Sophia, you're a lifesaver. I'll pay you back once I get my share of the assets."
Sophia said, "No rush, it's all good."
Sophia smiled slightly. She had a reason for giving the money.
She wanted Katherine to keep causing a scene, making it as disruptive as possible.
Ideally, Marlowe's beauty salon would have to shut down.
