Chapter 334 Crying on the Ground
Sophia's house quickly attracted potential buyers. While the location wasn't particularly great, it was decent enough. The price was quickly negotiated, and contracts were signed, with the other party paying half upfront and the rest due in a month.
Sophia began preparing to move.
When Caroline heard that she was moving, she looked puzzled.
"Why are you moving?"
Sophia said, "I sold the house."
"Sold it? Where will you and the kids live?" Caroline asked.
Sophia replied, "I sent the kids to the Lancaster family, and I rented a pretty big house for myself. It's close to the hospital, so you can come back to live there in the future."
Caroline fell silent. She vaguely guessed what was happening and felt a bitter taste in her heart.
"When are you moving?"Caroline asked.
Sophia said, "Tomorrow."
After hanging up, Caroline stared blankly at her own phone. Sure enough, not long after, Sophia sent over some money. Caroline felt a complex of emotions. Having Sophia as her best friend in her life must be a reward for some grest deed in her past life. Caroline wanted to return the money, but she knew Sophia's stubborn nature would insist until she accepted it. And Sophia, fearing Caroline's disapproval, deliberately didn't inform her.
Once Lisa's condition improved, Caroline vowed to work even harder to earn money and buy Sophia a bigger house!
Caroline stood up, realizing it was getting late. She exchanged a few words with the caregiver and then took a taxi to the Watson Group. Josie was already practicing the violin in the meeting room.
Nicholas hadn't lied; he really did ask Caroline to teach her the violin.
Yesterday, Caroline taught at the Watson Group while Nicholas was in a meeting. Today, when she arrived, Nicholas was still not in the office, which eased Caroline's mind a bit.
"Josie."
"Roberts." Josie smiled happily.
"Josie, today we'll be learning..."
Josie listened attentively and followed Roberts' instructions.
Intermittent sounds of the violin could be heard. Nicholas returned from the meeting, a slight smile forming on his lips.
About to return to his office, Nicholas suddenly received a phone call and hurriedly left.
"Sharpe, stay behind. When Josie finishes learning, take her home," Nicholas said.
"Got it!" Sharpe replied.
As the lesson didn't end quickly, Sharpe went to attend to his own tasks first.
A few minutes later, Daisy arrived.
These days, Josie was often brought to the company by Nicholas, but Daisy had no idea why.
Josie, the mischievous child, seemed to be winning Nicholas's favor more and more. Since Nicholas liked her so much, why didn't she say a good word to Daisy and get Nicholas to agree to marry her?
Thinking about this, Daisy was filled with anger. She had raised a useless fool!
Exiting the elevator, Daisy heard the sound of a violin. She stopped in her tracks and, after a few seconds, followed the sound to the meeting room door.
"Josie, take a break if you're tired," Caroline said.
"Roberts, I'm not tired," Josie replied.
The meeting room door suddenly swung open, and Daisy, with a dark expression, walked in. "Josie!"
Josie trembled all over, almost dropping the violin in her hands.
"Mom," she called out softly.
Caroline watched as Daisy approached with an aggressive stance, instinctively shielding Josie behind her.
"What do you want?"Caroline asked.
Daisy's chest heaved with anger. Nicholas had brought Josie to the company so that Caroline could teach her the violin.
Why would Nicholas do that? Could they be rekindling their old relationship?
No! She would never allow it!
Half consumed by anger, Daisy strode forward, intent on pulling Josie away. "Josie, come here!"
Caroline protected Josie well.
Josie didn't understand why Daisy suddenly got so angry; she seemed to have done nothing wrong. However, Daisy always seemed to be angry with her for no reason, and she had grown accustomed to it.
Taking a step forward, Josie prepared to face Daisy's wrath. Caroline pushed Josie back, keeping her hidden behind her.
"Daisy, you're getting angry for no reason. Do you realize you're scaring Josie?" Caroline couldn't bear to watch anymore; she couldn't believe there was a mother like Daisy in the world.
"What does it matter if I scare the child? Caroline, don't forget; she's my child, not yours!" Daisy glared angrily.
Daisy walked over to pull Josie away. Caroline swatted her hand away.
"Even if she's not my child, I can't stand by and watch you bully Josie."
Caroline's slender figure stood tall in front of Josie, making her seem incredibly strong.
Josie looked up at Caroline's back and head, feeling a strange sensation, her eyes suddenly welling up with tears. She wished Caroline was her mother.
"Get out of my way," Daisy said, lunging at Caroline. Caroline was prepared and grabbed her wrist.
Furious, Daisy grabbed her handbag and swung it at Caroline, catching her off guard and causing pain.
Caroline was not vulnerable; she wasn't going to take a hit without retaliating.
Swiftly, she seized Daisy by the hair.
"Let go of me! Let go! My hair is throbbing with pain!" Daisy, a pampered rich girl, was no match for Caroline.
Despite Caroline now being an elegant violinist, she had fought her way through childhood; otherwise, she would have been bullied to death. Just grabbing Daisy's hair made her scream in agony.
"Help!" Daisy shouted.
Sharpe rushed over at the sound, stunned by the scene.
"Help me quickly." Daisy cried, tears streaming down her face from the pain.
"Ms. Clark, please let go." Sharpe hurried over to intervene.
This was Nicholas's territory, and Caroline dared not harm Daisy. As she let go, a few strands of hair fell to the ground.
Seeing the hair, Daisy glared furiously. "Caroline, I'll make you pay!" Daisy suddenly lunged at Caroline as if possessed by a madman.
Daisy and Caroline quickly grappled, and Sharpe was taken aback.
Josie was almost caught in the scuffle, so Sharpe quickly picked her up and moved her aside before stepping in to stop the fight.
Josie was anxious; she never expected Daisy to attack Caroline while she was defending herself. She didn't want Caroline to get hurt; Caroline had to win.
Josie's gaze fell on the fallen hair, and she suddenly remembered what Emma had asked her to do.
Swallowing nervously, she took small steps forward, bent down, quickly picked up the hair, and stuffed it into her backpack. Her heart raced.
Soon, Caroline emerged victorious in the struggle, leaving Daisy's clothes in disarray.
Sharpe couldn't bear to watch. Daisy sat on the ground, disheveled and crying bitterly. "I'll sue you, Caroline. I'll make you pay for everything."
"Suit yourself. You were the one who started it; I was just defending myself." Caroline clapped her hands, her hair now a mess. She took off her hair tie, letting her beautiful hair fall down, covering her graceful back.
