Chapter 657 Ran Away

After Mia got busted, Michael's family just fell apart. Nobody outside the family had a clue about what was happening with the Wolfs.

But, you know, secrets like that don’t stay hidden forever.

People love juicy gossip about rich families.

Daisy was stuck at Watson Manor, restless day and night. Aragorn and Gummidge still had no idea Mia was behind bars.

Under the so-called protection, Aragorn and Gummidge lived like hermits and were slow to catch up on outside news. Aragorn read the news and papers daily, but Mia's mess was still under wraps.

So, in Aragorn and Gummidge's eyes, Daisy was still part of the family.

Before, Daisy was always hoping Nicholas would come home and be with her. Now, she was scared he'd come back and spill the beans about Mia and that Caroline was actually Daniel's daughter.

She'd already lost Mia; she couldn't afford to lose her marriage too.

Aragorn noticed Daisy's unease, but with Trevor causing a ruckus lately, he figured she was just worried about Trevor and Nicholas not being home.

During dinner, Gummidge served Daisy some food.

Aragorn's usually stern face softened a bit.

"Daisy, don't stress too much. Just relax as a member of the Watsons. As long as I'm here, you'll always be part of our family. Nicholas will come home eventually."

Daisy's eyes flickered slightly, and she nodded.

"Yeah, I know."

"The Reunion Festival is coming up. Our two families haven't had a meal together in ages. Let's invite your parents over for the holiday."

Daisy almost dropped her utensils, feeling a wave of panic.

But she quickly calmed down and said, "My parents are planning to travel, so they might be busy. Let's wait until they get back."

Aragorn was a bit puzzled. From what he knew, Michael and Mia weren't close enough to travel together. He'd heard some things about Michael's mistresses.

'How did Michael and Mia suddenly become so affectionate?' Aragorn wondered.

Although it seemed strange, Aragorn didn't think much of it. The two families were old friends and usually visited each other during holidays.

"Then let's invite Daniel and Linda over."

Daisy said, "Okay, I'll just check with Uncle Daniel and see if he's free."

Feeling flustered, Daisy lost her appetite and went upstairs, not even bothering with Trevor.

Aragorn frowned slightly, and Gummidge sighed helplessly, wondering, 'When will these days end?'

Aragorn clenched his fist and then relaxed it, saying to Gummidge, "During the Reunion Festival, let's have Nicholas bring Josie home for dinner."

Gummidge's eyes brightened. 'Is Aragorn finally willing to relent?' she thought.

In the afternoon, Daisy went back to the Wolf Villa.

Her car pulled up to the entrance of the Wolf Villa. Seeing the quiet gate, Daisy's heart sank, and her eyes welled up.

The house used to be bustling, with servants everywhere. Mia would supervise the servants daily and sometimes invite friends over for afternoon tea in the garden. Daisy often invited socialites over as well.

Now Daisy felt like a mouse, afraid of being ridiculed if she went out. So she had been hiding in Watson Manor, not daring to socialize.

She dreaded hearing people call her the daughter of a criminal, saying she was a nobody now.

The gate automatically sensed Daisy's license plate and slowly opened. She stepped on the gas and drove in.

When she entered the villa and saw the empty interior, she froze.

Daisy thought, 'How could this be? Where is everything? Have we been robbed?'

The large villa was completely empty. All the expensive furniture, valuable decorations, and all her clothes and jewelry were gone.

Panicked, Daisy called Samuel.

"Hello, Samuel, what happened to the house?"

Samuel's voice was hoarse and filled with helplessness. "Dad secretly sold everything in the house and ran off with all the money and his mistress."

If Daniel hadn't needed to sign to sell the villa, Michael would have sold it too.

"What!" Daisy's body went limp, and she slid down the stairs.

"Why didn't you tell me?" she shouted in despair.

Samuel said, "I only found out when I came home yesterday."

Michael had run off abroad with his mistress Anna, leaving Daniel fuming and on the verge of a heart attack.

Fortunately, Michael didn't have much real power in the company, or he might have embezzled company funds.

Daniel had completely lost any familial affection for Michael.

He didn't believe Michael knew nothing about Mia's crimes. Michael had exposed Mia because he knew the truth was about to come out and wanted to shift the blame.

Daniel felt he had never mistreated Michael's family. Michael wasn't cut out for the brutal world of business, so Daniel had made him a manager with a pretty basic job, giving him dividends every year and some extra cash during holidays to maintain their luxurious lifestyle.

But no matter how well Daniel treated them, they always felt he was being condescending and that he had taken over the Wolf family's assets.

So Daniel had no intention of looking for Michael.

From now on, Michael had nothing to do with him.

Samuel understood this too. After searching for two days, he gave up.

Their home was no longer a home.

Aragorn noticed that Daisy seemed even more despondent and exhausted after her trip out.

"Did something happen to the Wolfs?" Gummidge asked.

Aragorn said, "Probably not. I saw Daniel's interview yesterday, and there was no negative news about the Wolf Group."

Aragorn's only concern regarding the Wolfs was Daniel. As long as Daniel was around, Michael couldn't cause any trouble.

Mia's case was still being processed and wouldn't go to trial until next month. Caroline went to work as usual and would pick up Josie after school if she had time.

Nicholas was actively undergoing treatment for his legs. After today's acupuncture, he felt a little more strength in them, which was a good sign.

Simon asked Nicholas to try standing up.

Sharpe and Caroline stepped forward to support him.

"Take it slow," Simon said, carefully observing Nicholas's legs.

Nicholas frowned deeply. When he exerted force in his legs, he felt a tingling and painful sensation.

He endured the discomfort, sweat forming on his forehead.

Finally, Nicholas managed to stand up.

But after just a second, he couldn't hold on and fell.

Fortunately, Sharpe and Caroline didn't let go, and Nicholas fell back into the wheelchair.
