Chapter 29: Captured
Gabriel sat down on the sofa and pinched his forehead.
"I'm a bit tired."
"Shall I give you a massage?"
"No need."
"By the way, Gabriel, I recently found a treatment method while researching some ancient texts. Let me give it a try on you."
"There's no need to bother." Gabriel thought for a moment but decided not to tell Tiffany about his apparent immunity to Sophia, in order to avoid any misunderstandings.
Tiffany bit her lower lip.
"Gabriel, do you no longer want to marry me?"
Gabriel looked at her and asked, "Why would you say that?"
"Then why don't you want to try the new method?"
"I just feel like it's a waste of time." Was the given reply.
"This time I've prepared enough."
After a long silence, Gabriel compromised, "Then let's give it a try."
Tiffany was his personal psychologist and also his nominal girlfriend. Since he contracted the strange illness, Tiffany had been trying to find ways to help him.
Gabriel had consulted both Western and Chinese doctors, but there seemed to be nothing physically wrong with him. It could only be a psychological issue.
But even Tiffany couldn't find any triggers for his psychological state, so she kept flipping through books to find a solution.
In the quarterly meeting of the company, everyone stared at the data on the big screen, holding their breath, while Gabriel sat there with a gloomy expression, clearly not in a good mood.
After the sales manager finished his report on stage, he shrunk to the side like a quail and weakly said, "That's the sales data of the previous quarter. I have finished reporting."
Gabriel glanced at him with a slight look in his eyes, leaving the sales manager feeling bitter. Once this sales data was released, Lancaster's stock price would fluctuate.
Taking a deep breath, the sales manager continued with a forced smile,
"I believe it's time for Fresh Blood Show to inject new vitality. According to the feedback from the customer service department, many customers feel that Fresh Blood Show's clothing is not innovative enough and lacks the comfort compared to other brands."
Gabriel was well aware of the importance of designers. When he first started in the fashion industry, he mainly focused on women's clothing. Last year, he started a men's clothing brand called "Fresh Blood Show," which initially sold well.
However, in the past six months, with the departure of designers, the performance of Fresh Blood Show plummeted.
In order to establish and promote the Fresh Blood Show brand, it was necessary to find more suitable designers.
After the meeting, everyone was tense. Margaret took the opportunity to catch up with Gabriel.
"Boss, I think Scarlett is very suitable to be the designer for Fresh Blood Show. I talked to her a couple of days ago, and she seems interested in joining us."
Margaret believed that a big company like Lancaster had no reason for Sophia to decline. She said she was considering, probably just thinking about what benefits she could receive.
This was the second time Margaret recommended Sophia to Gabriel.
Gabriel furrowed his brows but didn't say anything. Margaret couldn't figure out what was on the boss's mind and followed him to the office.
Stopped at the entrance and didn't go in anymore. Margaret thought it was hopeless and was about to leave when she heard Gabriel's voice from within "Is there anyone else besides Scarlett?"
Margaret hurriedly went in.
"There's also Emma, but Emma has already clearly rejected us. There are others, but none are as suitable as Scarlett." Of course, Sophia is also an option, but for now, within their known range, Sophia is the best.
"Okay, I understand."
Margaret stepped back, looked at Alex who came out with her, and asked in a low voice,
"Alex, do you think there's a chance?" Alex shook his head, "I don't know." If that person wasn't Sophia, then there would definitely be a chance, but unfortunately, that person is the boss's ex-wife, so it's unlikely.
In the past couple of days, Sophia has also been talking to two companies, and she is satisfied with the benefits they offer her, but she's still hesitant. After all, the platforms aren't that big, and the resources they can provide her in the future might be limited.
On this day, Sophia appeared outside the Eagle Childcare Center with newly made clothes and a plush doll, waiting for the school to be dismissed.
She eagerly stared, not daring to blink, for fear of missing him. David had already gone inside to pick up Sam early, and when Sam walked out, he saw Sophia poking her head outside.
Sam's footsteps slightly hesitated, and a touch of joy inexplicably rose in his heart. As soon as he reached the entrance, Sophia came up to him. "Sam."
Sam looked at her with his bright eyes open. "These are the new clothes I made, and this doll is for you too. If you ever feel lonely, you can talk to the doll."
She handed the items to Sam. This time, David didn't obstruct, but suddenly, a few police officers appeared and rushed to restrain Sophia without giving her any chance to react.
"What are you doing?"
"Someone suspects that you are attempting to kidnap a child. Please come with us."
The police officer said meticulously. "Kidnapping? How is that possible? You must have misunderstood."
Sophia was pulled into the police car like this, and Sam anxiously tugged at David's clothes. David shook his head, "I will protect you, you cannot leave."
Sam turned around angrily. Sophia was taken to the police station and put into a separate room. After half an hour, someone came for interrogation. The police officer showed Sam's photo.
"Someone reported that you have been lurking at the childcare center recently and talking to this child. Are you attempting to kidnap him?" Sophia looked innocent,
"I am innocent, officer. I am a law-abiding citizen. I approached him because he is my son. Due to special circumstances, we were separated, and I missed him, so I went to the childcare center to see him and give him gifts."
On the way here, Sophia had been thinking about who would report her and accuse her of being a human trafficker. She pondered on.
However, there was only Gabriel. Only he would do this to prevent her from seeing Sam. The police took her statement, and Sophia spoke sincerely and truthfully.
Finally, she called Vincent to vouch for her. Ethan and Emma took the school bus back home and waited a long time for their mommy to return. Emma couldn't help but worry a little.
"Where did mommy go? I can't reach her on the phone, and I'm so hungry."
Ethan got up quietly and went to the kitchen. He took out a pack of instant noodles from the cabinet, boiled water, and made some noodles for Emma.
"Aren't you hungry, Ethan?"
Emma looked at the single bowl. Ethan shook his head and took out his iPad to investigate where their mommy went. He directly hacked into the surveillance cameras of Eagle's Nest Kindergarten and saw a scene where their mommy was taken away by the police uncle, suddenly scaring Emma.
"What are you doing, Ethan?" Emma was displeased. "Mommy was arrested by the police."
“What!" Emma dropped her chopsticks and grabbed Ethan's hand.
"Let's go and save mommy." Ethan calmed down and pondered for two minutes. "We'll tell godfather, and then have godfather take us to the police station."
"Okay." When it came to important matters, Emma listened to Ethan, so the two angels were about to call Vincent.
