Chapter 323 Faking Faintness
Tiffany didn't expect that she would end up harming herself. She wanted to embarrass Sophia but instead found herself framed.
Listening to Sophia's words, Tiffany felt annoyed. She realized that Sophia was trying to force her to admit that she was pretending to have amnesia!
However, she was genuinely suffering from amnesia, just recovering quickly.
Quickly weighing her options in her mind, Tiffany realized that admitting to faking amnesia would offend even more people. Faced with two choices, she chose the most advantageous one.
"I don't have memory confusion. I went to the hospital for a recheck yesterday, and the doctor confirmed that I have recovered. I just didn't have the chance to inform everyone yet."
"You were at the company all day yesterday; how could you have had time to go to the hospital for a check-up? You're lying!"
Someone immediately refuted her.
Sophia was almost amused by Tiffany's foolishness. She thought Tiffany had already bought off all of the Lancaster Group's colleagues, but it turned out that everyone disapproved of her.
Panicked, Tiffany said, "Maybe I went the day before yesterday; I remembered it wrong."
"You see, you're still saying you've recovered; memory can still be confused. Ms. Foster, you better return the money quickly."
Sophia struggled to hold back her laughter. Sophia was pressuring Tiffany to fabricate a non-existent one hundred thousand dollars while her colleagues were scrutinizing her every move. Tiffany was caught in a dilemma, unable to escape.
She spotted Gabriel not far away, and an idea popped into her mind. The next moment, she grimaced in pain, clutching her head.
"My head hurts so much; please don't pressure me anymore; I'm really in pain."
Tiffany screamed and then fainted.
No one rushed to help her; she collapsed directly on the ground.
For the sake of authenticity, Tiffany had actually fallen, hitting her head on the ground, causing her to wince in pain a few times.
Sophia quickly took two steps back, afraid of being accused of causing Tiffany's fall.
Everyone was a bit stunned.
"Quick, check on her."
The secretary hurriedly sent someone to check on Tiffany's condition.
Gabriel escorted David out, seeing everyone gathered together, his brows furrowed.
Then he spotted Sophia in the crowd, and his expression softened.
Gabriel walked over quickly.
"What are you doing here?" Gabriel wanted to pull Sophia away from the crowd but hesitated to touch her, fearing she would push his hand away.
Sophia pointed to Tiffany on the ground. "Your girlfriend fainted."
She spoke calmly as if she had no connection to the situation.
"She's not my girlfriend," Gabriel quickly clarified, afraid that if he hesitated for a second, Sophia would misunderstand even more.
A hint of confusion flickered through Sophia's mind.
"Mr. Lancaster, Ms. Foster fainted." The secretary was a bit anxious. If anything happened to Tiffany at the company, she would be in trouble if Gabriel investigated.
The secretary thought Gabriel would be very concerned, but he just glanced at Tiffany indifferently, then frowned unhappily, saying, "I'm not a doctor. If she fainted, you should take her to the hospital."
The secretary had no response; he could only instruct two employees to lift Tiffany and take her to the hospital.
David approached.
"Mr. Lancaster is busy; we just discussed something. I hope you will consider it more; I will visit another day."
"Okay, Mr. Blackwood, take care. I'll treat you to dinner next time you come."
"Okay, goodbye."
David glanced at Sophia as he left. He hadn't seen clearly what had happened, but it seemed that the woman who fainted was related to her. However, he wasn't a curious person, so he didn't ask or speculate further.
After seeing her face clearly, David paused.
"Are you Sophia?"
Gabriel was surprised.
Did David know Sophia? David was a celebrity in Country M, often dining and chatting with leaders. Although he was in business rather than politics, his network spanned the entire country, and many celebrities respected him.
Even he didn't dare to easily offend David.
He didn't expect Sophia to know someone like David.
Sophia was also surprised. She looked at David, feeling that he was familiar, but she honestly didn't recognize him.
"Do you know me?" she asked in confusion,
Looking at the face that bore a striking resemblance to his mother's when she was young, David was puzzled.
He heard his wife Jennifer mention Sophia every day and had already learned some of Sophia's appearance from Jennifer. Seeing her face just now, he guessed that she was Sophia.
Fortunately, he didn't mistake her identity.
"I'm Colin's father," David said,
Sophia understood. "I thought you looked familiar. Colin must take after his father."
David chuckled. "Colin often mentions you. It was sudden to meet today. Let's have a proper meal together in a couple of days."
"Sure, Mr. Blackwood, you go ahead with your business. We'll have dinner when you're free," Sophia said,
David nodded with a smile, nodded to Gabriel, and then hurried away.
Watching from the side, Gabriel's sense of crisis grew. Sophia had actively come to him!
Did Colin also have feelings for Sophia? Gabriel recalled how Colin frequently dined at Sophia's place, demonstrating a deep care for her.
Had they met each other's parents?
With Jake, the current rival still in play, now Colin also entered the scene, making the competition even fiercer.
Gabriel's sense of crisis grew stronger.
Tiffany was lifted into the car and shortly after waking up. Initially pretending to be unconscious, she even hit her head when fainting.
Her plan not only failed but also led to an unfortunate outcome for herself.
Colleagues briefly expressed concern when she woke up, but Tiffany refused to go to the hospital, claiming she was okay, prompting them to leave directly.
The secretary knocked on the door.
Gabriel said, "Come in!"
The secretary entered, casting a subconscious glance at Sophia standing nearby.
"Mr. Lancaster, Ms. Foster woke up mid-way, so I had her sent home to rest."
"Alright," Gabriel responded nonchalantly; seeing the secretary still standing there, he frowned and asked, "Is there anything else?" "Nothing else." The secretary hoped for Gabriel to express more care, but Gabriel showed no interest in Tiffany's actions.
It was now clear to the secretary that Tiffany probably had no more significance in Gabriel's eyes.
Therefore, there was no need to overly cater to Tiffany in the future.
"Oh, and bring in a glass of freshly squeezed juice," Gabriel instructed as the secretary was leaving. "Yes."
As the door closed, Gabriel felt a slight thrill — Sophia had taken the initiative to approach him!
Gabriel concealed his inner emotions, his eyes unintentionally softening.
"What's the matter you want to discuss with me?"
His voice softened unconsciously.
Sophia felt a hint of doubt again. Why did Gabriel seem strange? Had he truly changed for the better?
Expressionless, cold, and indifferent, she said, "I want to talk to you about the children."
"Okay." Gabriel gestured to a chair. "Please, sit down."
The conversation would take a long time, so Sophia sat down.
"Let me..."
"Wait." Gabriel raised his hand, signaling her not to speak just yet.
