Chapter 476 Moving His Heart
Gabriel had a follow-up at the hospital.
Alex reminded him a day before and set up the schedule.
"Alex," Gabriel said, putting down his pen.
Alex looked at him, listening.
"How do I get Sophia to come with me to the hospital tomorrow?"
He didn't want to try any tricks; she always saw through them. Sophia was too sharp and always caught his flaws.
Alex was taken aback. Seeing Gabriel so serious, he thought it was something important.
He was a bit shocked.
When Gabriel was with Tiffany, he never worried about her accompanying him.
Tiffany always found ways to be with him.
After the initial surprise, Alex smiled. Clearly, Sophia was Gabriel's true love. Luckily, Gabriel realized it in time and started pursuing her again.
"Just ask Ms. Kelly directly," Alex suggested. He thought there was no need to overthink it.
"Directly?" Gabriel frowned.
"Yes, Ms. Kelly doesn't like beating around the bush. You got hurt because of her. She's compassionate and righteous. If you ask, she'll definitely be happy to go with you."
Considering how she always saw through his fake weaknesses, Gabriel decided to try.
He took out his phone and sent Sophia a message.
After a minute, Gabriel asked, "Is she in a meeting?"
Sophia hadn't replied yet.
Alex checked his phone. "Let me find out."
After asking Margaret, Alex said, "No one in the design department is in a meeting."
Five minutes passed, still no reply.
Gabriel got anxious. "Is she mad because I beat up Jake? What's so great about that guy? He's full of schemes, not sincere, and not as good-looking as me."
Alex was speechless. "It's only been five minutes. Ms. Kelly probably hasn't seen your message yet."
Gabriel paced. "I risked my life for her, and she's still thinking about Jake."
Alex felt if Sophia didn't reply soon, Gabriel would cause trouble.
He quietly moved towards the door.
The phone on the table vibrated.
Gabriel quickly grabbed it. His annoyance vanished, replaced by a silly smile. "She agreed!"
Alex sighed in relief and smiled, "Congrats, Mr. Lancaster."
Seeing Gabriel so happy, it was like he had proposed successfully.
The next morning, after sending the kids off, Sophia was ready to go with Gabriel to the hospital.
As Alex said, Gabriel got hurt because of her. It was only right for her to go with him. Sophia wouldn't refuse.
Sophia waited downstairs for over ten minutes but didn't see Gabriel. She checked the time and frowned.
Gabriel was in the dressing room, choosing clothes.
He frowned at the row of shirts and suits.
It was just a hospital visit, but it felt like a date.
Gabriel suddenly felt he didn't have enough clothes.
He had no idea which outfit would look better and make Sophia like him more.
Someone knocked on the door, and Gabriel walked out of the dressing room. "Come in."
The servant opened the door. "Mr. Lancaster, Ms. Kelly asked if you're ready."
Gabriel checked the time and felt a pang of anxiety. "I'll be right down."
He rushed back to the dressing room, changed into what he thought was his best outfit, and then swapped his watch for a better one.
Gabriel came downstairs looking sharp, his eyes softening when he saw Sophia.
"Let's go."
Sophia, getting impatient, stood up and headed out as soon as he appeared.
Gabriel quickly followed.
Ruth chuckled from behind.
"Sophia, do you notice anything different about me today?" Gabriel asked once they were in the car.
Sophia glanced at him. "No."
Gabriel looked the same as always—suit, tie, handsome, and noble. The only difference was he seemed a bit less aloof.
Gabriel felt a bit hurt.
She didn't even notice he had dressed up for her.
The rest of the ride was silent, with Sophia busy on her phone.
At the hospital, Sophia put her phone away and focused on Gabriel's check-ups.
The doctor said, "Mr. Lancaster is recovering well. With proper care, there shouldn't be any lasting effects."
Gabriel asked, "Can I work out now?"
The doctor replied, "You can exercise moderately, but don't overdo it, and make sure to rest well."
The doctor gave more instructions, and Sophia noted the key points on her phone.
Leaving the hospital, Gabriel saw Sophia still on her phone.
"Do you have time this afternoon?" he asked.
Sophia replied without looking up, "No, I have things to do."
Gabriel looked a bit disappointed.
In the car, Sophia thought they were heading back to the Lancaster Mansion. But they ended up at her favorite restaurant.
She looked at Gabriel, confused.
Gabriel raised an eyebrow. "Surely you have time for a meal?"
A few minutes later, they were seated and had ordered their food.
Sophia replied to her last message and finally put her phone down.
Gabriel said, "I've arranged for Harbor Bay to be rebuilt. Do you want to see the design plans?"
Sophia looked at him deeply, her eyes full of emotion.
Before she could speak, Gabriel quickly added, "Harbor Bay was a birthday gift for the kids. It got burned down, but it's still theirs. As their father, I have the responsibility to rebuild it."
Sophia replied, "I understand. Send it to me."
Gabriel smiled. "Okay."
Sophia reviewed the plans he sent and saw that Gabriel intended to rebuild the house in its original style.
She made a few suggestions for changes and improvements.
Gabriel watched her seriously reviewing the design, her lips moving as she spoke. His eyes were filled with affection.
After experiencing life and death, he realized he was completely in love with her.
Even her smallest actions moved his heart.
At that time, he thought he was going to die and would never see her again.
He was extremely sad about that.
Fortunately, he was lucky.
Since he got this chance, he would cherish it, loving and protecting her with all he had.
Gabriel reached out his hand.
