Chapter 759 Noise
Emma was quite excited.
If Sophia could give her a little sister, and Caroline also had a little sister, then she would have two little sisters.
Just thinking about it was fun; she could teach her two little sisters to play games.
Ruth heard Emma's words, her eyes lit up, but she quickly dismissed the idea.
Sophia had injured her body during childbirth back then, and it wasn't good for her to get pregnant again. Even if Sophia did get pregnant again, it wouldn't be good for her health, so it was better not to have more children.
Ruth quietly returned to her room and took out a family photo.
Sophia wasn't in this family photo because she hadn't married Gabriel then.
"Dear, Gabriel and Sophia are married now, and this time they will live a good life."
"Wait for me a few more years, and by then, I'll be joining you."
Ruth carefully wiped the photo, even though there wasn't a speck of dust on it.
"And the truth about your car accident back then has been uncovered. It was all Victor's scheming behind the scenes, and he has now been brought to justice."
"Jake, although he is a descendant of the Lancaster family, he did wrong and should pay for his mistakes."
"Don't worry, everything at home is fine, the company is doing well, and the bad guys have been punished."
"Just bless Gabriel and Sophia with good health and keep the three children safe."
Ruth stayed in her room all afternoon and only came out for dinner.
The three children, afraid Ruth would feel lonely, tried all sorts of ways to cheer her up.
In the evening, Ruth received a call from Clara.
Gabriel went on his honeymoon, leaving the company's affairs to Harrison and Alex.
Harrison appeared at the meeting while yawning.
The meeting lasted until noon.
His assistant came to him with a thermos box.
"This was sent by Ms. Tuck."
Harrison happily took it.
Noah occasionally cooked and had the driver deliver it to him.
"Alex," Harrison flaunted the thermos box in his hand, "Want to eat together?"
Alex rolled his eyes at him, "No, I prefer lighter food. I'll go to the cafeteria."
"Alex, you're the only one among the company's executives who is still single. Do you want me to introduce you to a girl?"
Alex thought of the playful girls Harrison used to hang out with. Would he introduce those women to him?
Alex shivered and quickly refused.
"No, I like being single."
Watching Alex stride away, Harrison pondered, 'Could it be that Alex likes men?'
From that day on, Alex felt that Harrison's gaze on him was a bit strange.
But he didn't have time to figure out why. With Gabriel gone, his workload doubled, and he was working overtime at the company every day, returning home late at night.
But for some reason, he recently saw couples everywhere he went.
For example, when Alex was on his way to work in the morning, stuck in traffic, the girl in the car next to him smiled sweetly as she hugged the guy's waist, her face pressed against his back.
Alex looked away and closed his car window.
For example, when he went to the company cafeteria for lunch, his colleagues who were couples sat next to him, exchanging glances while eating and occasionally wiping each other's mouths.
For example, when Alex ordered takeout in the evening, the delivery person brought the wrong order, and it turned out to be a couple's meal.
For a moment, Alex felt like he was the only single person, the only one who was lonely and sad.
Out of sight, out of mind, Alex threw himself even more into his work.
Alex left for the company earlier than others in the morning, ate lunch in his office, and had a simple meal at home after work.
One day, while he was scolding a subordinate for making a basic mistake, he suddenly received a call from Ruth.
Alex waved his hand to let the subordinate leave.
As soon as the subordinate came out, he complained to his colleagues, "Is Alex getting old? He used to be so gentle, but now he scolds me for the smallest matter."
"I got scolded yesterday too, and it was harsh."
"Me too."
"Do you think Alex has been single for too long and has nowhere to vent, so he vents on us?"
They nodded thoughtfully.
"Why don't we introduce a girlfriend to Alex?"
"Sure, I think the manager from the planning department is nice, pretty, and has a sweet voice."
"No, she's too fake."
"The head of the sales department is also good."
"No, she's too old."
"Jasmine from the marketing department."
"She's too snobbish."
"Rebecca from the PR department."
"She talks too much."
Alex didn't know that the whole company was concerned about his love life.
Ruth called to ask him to help deliver something.
Alex agreed without hesitation. After arranging his work, he drove to the place Ruth mentioned to pick up the items, then followed the address Ruth sent to a villa area.
Alex found the house number and rang the doorbell.
After a long time, a clear female voice came from inside.
"Who is it?"
"I'm Alex. Mrs. Lancaster asked me to deliver something."
"Oh, wait a moment."
Alex stood outside, holding two boxes of premium supplements.
After five minutes, the door still hadn't opened. Alex frowned and rang the doorbell again.
"Sorry, something came up. Please wait a bit longer."
"Alright."
After another five minutes, Alex reluctantly rang the doorbell again.
"Do you need help?" he asked politely.
The other person hesitated for a moment.
"I'll open the door for you. Just come in."
The iron gate opened remotely, and Alex had no choice but to carry the supplements inside.
The door to the villa wasn't locked. Following the owner's instructions, he opened the door and went in.
Alex entered and looked around but didn't see anyone.
"Where should I put these?"
A voice came from the intercom, "Just put them on the table."
Alex put down the supplements and asked again, "Are you sure you don't need help?"
"No, I can handle it."
There was a sound of something heavy falling.
Judging by the sound, Alex thought someone might have fallen.
"Are you okay?"
"Are you alright?"
Alex asked several times but got no response, so his face changed slightly. His sense of justice wouldn't let him leave just like that.
Ruth had asked him to deliver something here, so the owner must be connected to the Lancaster family.
"Where are you?" Alex asked.
"Upstairs," the pained voice came through.
Alex hurried upstairs and saw an open door. He instinctively rushed in.
The sound of running water reached his ears. Alex ran to the bathroom door and saw a woman sitting on the floor, soaking wet, her beautiful face contorted in pain.
