Chapter 30: Can't bear it anymore

Vincent had already arrived at the police station, and Gabriel arrived at the same time.
The two met at the entrance, but Gabriel seemed to have not seen him, and walked straight in. Vincent didn't pay attention to him either. They entered one after another.
"Mr. Lancaster," a police officer who knew Gabriel approached.
"Where is she?"
"Who?"
"Sophia."
"Oh, the one who was brought in today, she is inside." The police officer pointed.
Vincent was behind, frowning, wondering if Gabriel came for Sophia as well.
Before he even had the chance to speak, he heard Gabriel say to the police officer, "I'll bail her out, just give me the paperwork."
The police officer was taken aback for a moment, then handed Gabriel the bail form to sign.
Not long after, Sophia was released.
The moment Sophia saw Gabriel, her eyes quickly reddened, but they were filled with a great sense of desolation. She glanced at Gabriel without any expression on her face.
At this moment, Sophia felt extremely cold, yet calm enough.
"Are you okay?" Gabriel furrowed his brows.
The indifferent glance from Sophia made him feel an inexplicable sense of suffocation. He instinctively explained, "I'm sorry about this..."
However, Sophia simply walked past him and smiled lightly at Vincent, who was behind him.
"I'm fine, brother Vincent. Let's go."
Gabriel's face immediately turned very unpleasant. As the president of the Lancaster Group and the richest man in the country, he was wealthy and handsome. Which woman wouldn't become infatuated upon seeing him? Yet, in Sophia's eyes, he was constantly met with opposition and contempt.
He originally felt quite guilty and wanted to apologize and explain to her. This time, she was brought to the police station due to a misunderstanding, but she ignored him and left with another man, laughing and joking.
Gabriel clenched his fists and then released them, repeating this action several times to suppress the anger in his heart.
As he turned to look at their departing car, he slowly took out his phone and made a call.
"Don't let that woman see Sam again in the future."
Sophia got into the car, the forced smile on her face immediately disappeared. She clenched her fists, sounding annoyed as she said, "Help me find a lawyer."
Vincent glanced at her with a furrowed brow, released the brake, stepped on the accelerator, and drove the car away from the police station for more than a hundred meters before asking her.
"What kind of lawsuit do you want to file?"
"I want to fight for Sam's custody!"
This idea had never been so strong before. She couldn't bear it for another moment.
Gabriel was truly heartless.
In order to prevent her from seeing Sam, last time he sent bodyguards to beat her, and this time he went as far as reporting her as a human trafficker. What about next time?
Did she come back to her country just for revenge against Gabriel? She originally thought she could take it step by step, for the sake of Sam's illness. She could slowly approach the matter, and she could also have a good conversation with Gabriel.
Now it is completely unnecessary. She will take the three children abroad as soon as she obtains custody of Sam, and she will work hard to earn money to find better doctors to treat Sam.
No matter the cost, she must cure Sam's illness.
"I will help you find the best lawyer, but Sophia, have you ever thought that with your current abilities, it is difficult for you to win against Gabriel."
"Do you mean I should sit idly by and wait for Gabriel to continue to bully me?" Sophia turned her head, her face full of anger.
Vincent's mouth moved, but in the end, he didn't say anything. Gabriel has gone too far, and Sophia has no way to fight back.
No matter what decision Sophia makes, he will support her and provide her with the best help he can. The two little ones are impatiently waiting at home. Emma's eyes are red, and she has tried to rush out several times but was stopped by Ethan.
The godfather has gone to save mommy, and they can only wait at home now. Ethan hated himself for being young and unable to do many things. Like protecting mommy.
He felt useless, besides knowing a bit about computers, he still can't protect mommy.
There was a commotion outside the door, Emma rushed over and opened it, and then threw herself at mommy.
"Mommy," Emma cried out.
Sophia was stunned by Emma suddenly crying so sadly. She looked at Ethan, only to find his eyes were also red. Her expression immediately grew serious.
"You two have been bullied?"
Ethan shook his head.
"Then why are you crying?"
Emma looked up, her fair little face red and swollen from crying, like two little strawberries. She sniffled and said, "The teacher took us to watch a movie, and the children in it were so pitiful."
Sophia: ...
It turns out the two children were moved by the movie.
Sophia gently comforted them, "After mommy finishes cooking for you, can you tell mommy about the plot of the movie?"
"Okay," Emma wiped her tears.
Vincent dropped Sophia off at home and left. It was already nine o'clock. Sophia quickly made three bowls of noodles. Emma could not eat much because she was worried about mommy and only ate a few mouthfuls before it got cold and Ethan poured it out.
Now that mommy is back, Emma's appetite has returned. Seeing that mommy is fine, the two little ones happily slurped up their noodles while telling the story of the movie they watched some time ago.
It wasn't particularly touching, but they didn't want to worry mommy. Otherwise, if mommy knew they were crying at home worrying, she would be even more concerned about them.
The two little ones were very sensible and in sync, perfectly deceiving Sophia.
On this night, Sophia looked at the two sleeping little ones beside her, unable to sleep herself.
She decided to take out her notebook and search for information.
Ethan was half-asleep, half-awake, and when he saw mommy still not sleeping, he nudged towards her, but he didn't disturb mommy working.
After a while, he lost his drowsiness and opened his eyes. He saw his mommy and decided to quietly stay by her side.
As he opened his eyes and glanced at the computer. Why is Mommy looking at the news? He wondered.
It's still the kind of news about parents fighting for custody of their children.
Why does Mommy want to find a lawyer?
Sophia searched for law firms online, looking for similar cases, and propped her chin up as she pondered.
She admitted that today's decision was a bit impulsive, but she didn't regret it. Ethan looked at Mommy and saw her lost in thought. He turned his small body over and pulled Sophia's mind back, tucking him and the baby under the covers.
Seeing that it was already late at night, Sophia closed her computer, lay down, and both babies unconsciously snuggled up to her.
Sophia's once somewhat empty heart was instantly filled.
...
After Gabriel left the police station, he went to the company to work overtime and hold a video conference. Towards the end of the meeting, a call came in from the old house.
Gabriel gave Harrison a look and then got up and disappeared from the screen.
"OK, we'll fly over tomorrow to sign the contract... Looking forward to working together."
Harrison ended the meeting and stretched his neck, making a "clickety-clack" sound. Harrison couldn't help but complain,
"My neck is stiff from all this contract work, Lao Fu, you have to compensate me for work-related injuries."
Gabriel walked over with a serious face.
"I have something to take care of, you handle the rest."
