Chapter 713 When Will You Get Married

Lisa has raised many children throughout her life, but none of them were her biological children.

Most of these children went to adoptive families when they were young, and a few grew up in the orphanage and then went on to live their own lives. Eventually, all of them forgot about Lisa.

Only Caroline always treated Lisa as if she were her biological mother.

Caroline found her biological parents and returned to the Wolf family. She also brought Lisa to the Wolf Mansion. However, she refused to call Daniel and Linda "Mom and Dad" because she wanted Lisa to have a child of her own.

It seemed that as long as Caroline didn't change what she called them, she would remain Lisa's only child, and Lisa would feel like she had a daughter.

"You silly child," Lisa said, raising her hand to touch Caroline's face, "You're afraid I'll feel uncomfortable, so you only call me 'Mom.' But have you thought about how your biological mother might feel sad too?"

Caroline had tears streaming down unstoppable.

So that's how it was. Linda had thought that Caroline hadn't completely forgiven them, which was why she hadn't changed what she called them.

Linda pushed open the slightly ajar door with tears in her eyes.

"I don't mind, Lisa. You raised Caroline, cared for her, and let her grow up safely. It's only right that she calls you 'Mom'. You are her second mother."

"Caroline is also your child."

Neither Caroline nor Lisa expected Linda to come back and hear what Lisa had said.

Lisa smiled, tugging at the corners of her mouth, "Caroline, Linda and I have no objections."

Caroline was stunned, tears hanging from her chin, ready to fall.

Linda tenderly wiped her tears away.

"Silly child, you're so silly. Do you think I wouldn't allow you to call Lisa 'Mom'?"

Caroline looked up at Linda, feeling a mix of sourness and bitterness in her heart.

Lisa reminded her, "Hurry up and call her 'Mom'."

"Mom," Caroline choked out, calling Linda.

Linda was so excited that she opened her mouth, and after two seconds, she responded. She hugged Caroline tightly.

"Caroline, my daughter, my good daughter."

Lisa looked at Caroline and Linda with relief. Her mission was finally complete.

She could leave with peace of mind.

Finally, she reminded Caroline, "Don't forget to call your dad 'Dad' when you see him."

Caroline replied, "Yes, I know, Mom. Please don't talk anymore. Just rest well."

"Yes, remember to be good to Nicholas."

"I know."

"Remember that Josie tends to have nightmares at night."

"I know, Mom. Please stop talking."

Lisa gradually closed her eyes, still mumbling, "Your health isn't good; take care of yourself."

As she spoke, Lisa fell into a tired sleep.

Caroline glanced at the heart monitor and saw that it was still beating, so she relaxed.

She tucked Lisa in.

Linda looked at her eagerly, "Caroline, can you call me one more time?"

"Mom."

Caroline didn't expect it to come out so smoothly. Previously, she hadn't changed what she called them partly because of Lisa, but deep down, it was also because she cared about the past.

Now that she had said it, all the awkwardness in her heart disappeared.

Linda smiled with great joy and hugged Caroline again, her eyes sparkling.

Lisa slept until the next morning. After waking up for a while, she fell asleep again.

Now she couldn't even eat solid food and could only have some porridge and soup each day.

Daniel drove to the hospital during his lunch break.

Linda excitedly grabbed Daniel, "Caroline called me 'Mom'."

Daniel's eyes lit up, and he asked, "Really?"

He quickly walked into the ward.

Caroline was wiping Lisa's hands.

"Caroline," Daniel said, looking at her expectantly.

Caroline gave a faint smile and called out, "Dad."

Daniel was so happy that he picked up Linda and spun her around.

Caroline was stunned. Daniel, at his age, could still lift Linda and spin her around!

Linda was frightened by Daniel's actions, her face turning pale as she kept patting him.

"Put me down quickly; Caroline is watching."

Daniel put Linda down. "Caroline's birthday is coming up, right? Let's throw a grand party and invite all our relatives and friends."

Seeing her parents so loving and happy, Caroline's heart gradually felt lighter, and the sadness of the past few days disappeared.

Lisa also slowly opened her eyes and smiled with relief.

Nicholas had finished Aragorn's funeral and then took Gummidge back to the Watson Manor.

Gummidge cried her tears dry, her eyes red and swollen, and she looked utterly exhausted.

Without Aragorn, she seemed to have lost her support, half of her soul, and she was filled with confusion about the future.

When Aragorn returned from treatment abroad, the doctors had said he could live for several more years. But after repeated shocks and hospitalizations, Aragorn ultimately couldn't be saved.

Gummidge's empty eyes gradually filled with complex emotions as she looked deeply at Nicholas.

All the misfortunes of the Watson family began back then, from the time Nicholas met Caroline, from Nicholas's constant rebellion against the family, from Daisy's accident that injured Nicholas.

The mansion was large. It used to be lively at the Watson Manor, but now it was empty and quiet.

Nicholas spoke calmly, "I have work to do at the company. I'll come back to visit you regularly."

"Nicholas," Gummidge called out to him. She seemed to want to say something, but Nicholas waited for a long time and didn't hear her speak again.

"Is there anything else?" Nicholas asked.

Gummidge replied, "Go ahead and take care of your work. Come back to see me when you have time."

"Okay."

Ashley and Paul returned just as Nicholas was about to leave.

In the yard, Paul patted Nicholas on the shoulder.

Paul said, "Nicholas, don't worry. I'm planning to move in. With me taking care of Aunt, she'll be very happy. By the way, my mom will also stay in the country for a while."

Nicholas replied, "Thank you."

Ashley said, "We're family; no need to be so polite. By the way, when can I officially meet your girlfriend?"

"Another day when we have time."

Ashley nodded.

Nicholas didn't go to the company but instead went to the hospital to find Caroline.

Caroline stayed by Lisa's side without leaving. When Nicholas came in, she was sleeping by the bedside.

Nicholas walked over quietly, and Caroline, a light sleeper, woke up at the slightest noise.

Seeing Nicholas, Caroline blinked her sleepy eyes.

Caroline asked, "Are you done with your work?"

"Yes," Nicholas said, coming to her side, "How is Lisa doing?"

Caroline replied, "Not very well."

At that moment, Lisa seemed to hear Nicholas's voice and woke up.

This time, she looked much better and could even sit up.

Lisa's eyes were clear as she smiled and held Caroline and Nicholas's hands.

Lisa said, "Caroline, Nicholas, when do you plan to get married?"

Caroline froze. If it were any other time, she would have said there was no rush. But now, seeing Lisa's expression, she thought this might be Lisa's last bit of energy before the end.
