Chapter 492 Cooperation

Patricia checked out the design draft that both Sophia and Jennifer had seen. They all agreed the waistline was the problem.

Patricia said seriously, "Even with some flaws, this designer's style is mature. You can tell she's experienced and has a unique touch."

Jennifer knew Celeste had been tutoring Patricia privately. She was surprised at how quickly Patricia had picked up design knowledge.

Jennifer nodded and asked, "So, should we keep this designer?"

"Yes," Patricia replied without hesitation.

"Why?" Jennifer asked.

Patricia explained, "If she can overcome her challenges here at Fusion Dynamics, she'll improve and promote our company. Plus, we shouldn't waste potential talent."

Sophia was shocked by Patricia's words about valuing talent.

'Is this still the same Patricia?' Sophia thought Patricia was just putting on a show.

Jennifer smiled and put the design draft in the "keep" pile.

Sophia glanced at it and recognized it as Kathy's work.

After bringing in coffee, Patricia stayed to help Jennifer review the drafts and made some serious comments.

However, Patricia's later comments weren't as impressive as her initial ones on Kathy's draft.

Jennifer understood; fashion design isn't something you master overnight.

After reviewing all the drafts, Jennifer called her assistant to take the selected ones for registration.

Patricia pointed to the pending pile. "What about these, Aunt?"

"Let's take another look," Jennifer said, picking them up again.

When she got to Kathy's draft, Jennifer hesitated and was about to reject it.

Patricia said, "Aunt, this design is good. Aren't you keeping it?"

Jennifer replied, "It's not perfect. She seemed rushed. Not keeping it."

"But Aunt, I think this talent should be nurtured. Why not keep her and see how she does in the second round?" Patricia suggested.

Jennifer stared at the draft for a minute and decided to keep it.

Soon, Fusion Dynamics announced the names for the second round.

Seeing her name on the list, Kathy sighed in relief.

Her phone rang. Kathy looked around and answered quietly, "Hello, Ms. Brown."

"Kathy, if I hadn't vouched for you with Jennifer, you'd have been rejected."

"Thank you, Ms. Brown. Once I'm in Fusion Dynamics, I'll follow your orders."

By chance, Kathy had met Patricia near the Lancaster Group and got to know her.

The comments Patricia made were exactly what Kathy had taught her.

Since entering the industry, Kathy had been in many competitions and heard countless critiques. Teaching Patricia some talking points was easy.

"No need to thank me too much. You helped me impress Jennifer too."

Kathy had designed it that way on purpose so Patricia could make some comments and impress Jennifer. In return, Patricia would ensure Kathy passed the first round.

It was a win-win, and Patricia was happy to do it.

When Celeste found out Patricia could make those professional comments, she praised her and even gave her a necklace worth millions.

Patricia was pleased with Kathy as a partner. If she could get Kathy into Fusion Dynamics, she could have Kathy compete with Sophia and eventually drive Sophia out.

"Kathy, you need to work hard in the upcoming selections. I can vouch for you, but Jennifer values ability," Patricia reminded.

Kathy replied, "Don't worry, Ms. Brown. I won't let you down."

After hanging up, Kathy glanced at Sophia.

Sophia was just Jennifer's goddaughter, while Patricia was Celeste's actual granddaughter. Could Sophia really compete with Patricia?

Once Kathy got into Fusion Dynamics, she'd make Sophia regret not helping her.

The second round of selections began, with several designers from the Lancaster Group participating, including Larry.

Larry felt like he was dreaming. He thought he'd be eliminated in the first round.

Sophia was pulled by Jennifer to watch the second round, and Patricia volunteered to help. Seeing Patricia so eager to learn, Jennifer didn't refuse.

Jennifer specifically watched Kathy work the sewing machine and saw her new design, which was even better than the first-round submission. It seemed she had held back her skills.

Sophia walked over to Larry and discreetly made a cheering gesture.

Over two hours later, Jennifer finalized the list of selected candidates. Kathy was among them, while the other participants from the Lancaster Group were rejected.

Seeing Larry's dejected look, Sophia asked Jennifer, "Can we add one more spot?"

Jennifer looked confused.

Sophia explained, "Fusion Dynamics needs people. Recruiting more trainees can help us establish our reputation domestically."

Jennifer smiled. "Who do you have in mind?"

Sophia replied, "Larry."

Jennifer looked at the dress Larry had made. He was talented but lacked experience. However, she trusted Sophia's judgment. "Alright, we'll add an extra spot."

Sophia was pleased. "Thank you, Jennifer."

Patricia overheard and felt uneasy. "Aunt, wouldn't it be unfair to the other rejected candidates if we add more spots?"

"It's not unfair. Fusion Dynamics should nurture talented designers."

Patricia wanted to say more but saw Jennifer's firm attitude and kept quiet. She'd wait until Kathy joined and helped her establish herself before making any moves. As for Larry, he'd eventually be kicked out along with Sophia.

Larry was ecstatic. When he found out he was accepted as an exception, he didn't know what expression to show.

"Larry, good luck!" Sophia made another cheering gesture.

Larry, full of energy, replied, "Yes, thank you, Sophia."
