Chapter 61 Locked In

Sophia and Larry had been busy all afternoon, and as they saw the finished product taking shape, Larry's eyes widened in admiration, and he gave a thumbs up.

"Amazing! It's no wonder you, Sophia, came up with this idea."

Originally, the clothes were embroidered in ink-like patterns. With a slight trim from Sophia, the suit took on a refined look with traditional clothing elements.

The black and white contrast created a visual impact, and the black parts, like spilled ink, added a casual and literary air to it.

Larry couldn't help but want to try it on.

Sophia pursed her lips and continued working on the clothes with a serious and focused expression.

"Sophia, it's time to leave. Why don't we finish it tomorrow? We still have a few days left," Larry suggested, noticing that half an hour had passed since the end of the workday and Sophia showed no signs of stopping.

"You go ahead. I want to finish this piece today," she replied. She enjoyed completing things in one go, especially when inspiration struck.

Larry had something to do in the evening, so he couldn't stay and accompany her for overtime.

"Be careful on your way back tonight," Larry said as he packed his things and left.

Sophia didn't know how much longer she would need, so she called Ethan.

"There are dumplings in the fridge. Heat them up and have some with Emma first," she instructed.

"Okay, Mommy. Don't overwork yourself and don't come back too late," Ethan obediently reminded her.

"Okay, be good. I'm hanging up now. ~"

After ending the call, Sophia continued to work diligently. She was completely absorbed in her own tasks and didn't notice her colleagues leaving one by one.

When she looked around, she realized she was the only one left in the office. All the lights had been turned off, and even the door was locked.

Sophia took the final step on the sewing machine, cutting the threads with scissors. Satisfied, she shook the clothes and carefully ironed them before putting them on a model.

She was extremely pleased with the result; at least it was presentable.

She turned her stiffened neck and saw the darkness surrounding her. She took out her phone to check the time.

Oh my, it's already ten o'clock!

The entire company must have emptied out.

Sophia hurriedly tidied up and prepared to leave.

However, when she reached the door of the design department, she saw a big lock securing it from the outside.

Sometimes, when you have a stroke of bad luck, even drinking water gets stuck in your teeth. Sophia was experiencing just that. When she tried to call for help, her phone automatically shut down due to low battery.

And, as luck would have it, when she turned on her computer, she realized there was no internet connection.

She even started to doubt whether being locked in tonight was intentional.

But who would do such a thing?

Fiona, perhaps? Did she have the power to cut off the company's internet?

With no means of seeking help, Sophia was frustrated while sitting at her desk.

Her two little darlings would be worried sick if she didn't go home tonight.

As time passed and it got later, Sophia's stomach growled. She decided to go to the pantry and find something to eat first; she would have more energy to figure out a solution once she was full.

Ethan and Emma usually went to bed after nine o'clock. Mom always said that getting enough sleep and waking up early would make them taller. But Mommy hadn't come back, and they couldn't fall asleep.

Mommy never worked past ten o'clock. If she had unfinished work, she usually brought it home.

But tonight...

Mommy still hasn't come back, even though it's already past ten o'clock. The two little ones were very uneasy.

"Ethan, quickly check if mommy is still at the office," Emma urged Ethan.

The two little darlings went to Sophia's study, turned on the computer, and Ethan quickly recalled the surveillance layout he observed last time he went to Lancaster.

He didn't need to investigate all the surveillance in Lancaster, just the few places where mommy might appear.

After all, it was such a big company, and if he investigated all the surveillance, he would surely be discovered.

"Oh no, mommy is trapped," Ethan's expression changed, and his little face became very serious.

"Then let's go and save mommy quickly."

The two little darlings changed into their clothes, put on masks and hats, and went out to rescue their own mommy.

The lights in the executive office were turned off, and Gabriel and Alex were about to leave the company when suddenly the company's security alarm went off. Gabriel's face darkened.
"Find out what's going on."

Alex quickly called the captain of the security team.

"The design department?"

He directly pressed the floor button for the design department in the elevator.

The security personnel arrived at the design department at the same time as Gabriel and, opening the large lock, they all entered, skilled and ready with their batons.

As the lights turned on, Sophia stood there in confusion.

The security personnel didn't recognize her and immediately surrounded her.

"...Miss Kelly!" Alex exclaimed in shock as he looked at Sophia.

Why is it Sophia?

Gabriel raised an eyebrow. Why was this woman still in the company so late, triggering the security alarm even?

What did she want to do?

Gabriel walked forward.

The security personnel immediately made way for him.

"What are you doing here?" Gabriel asked sternly.

His expression wasn't too pleasant, and his sharp gaze seemed to see through Sophia.

"What can I do here? Of course, it's overtime," Sophia replied irritably.

"Do you know the consequences of triggering the security alarm?" Gabriel was really angered by this woman's attitude.

Couldn't she be a bit gentler?

"Do you know the consequences of locking an employee in the office alone?" Sophia retorted.

She had to find a way to save herself. Was she really going to be locked here all night?

She would starve or freeze to death.

She was locked in?

Gabriel looked at the security team captain coldly. "What's going on?"

The captain of the security team instantly broke into a cold sweat under his gaze. He also didn't know; he had just arrived.

"The company policy is to lock the department at 9:30. Maybe the person responsible for locking the doors today didn't realize that someone was still working."

Because of this policy, department employees rarely worked past nine o'clock, unless there was a leader present. Generally, leaders had keys.

Gabriel's eyes were filled with coldness. The security team captain knew that he couldn't escape punishment.

Indeed, it was their mistake at work. Normally, before locking the doors, they would ensure that no one was still inside.

"You didn't make a phone call?"

Sophia raised her cellphone. "It ran out of battery, and coincidentally, the company's internet also went down."

"Internet connection issues," Gabriel muttered.

"What's going on?" Gabriel asked Alex.

Alex was also puzzled. They didn't have any internet connection issues in the executive office.

In this situation, Gabriel didn't know whether to praise Sophia for her intelligence or sympathize with her misfortune.

The company had top-notch anti-theft systems. Once the alarm was triggered, all important files would enter protected mode on the computers, and an extra layer of protection would be added to the company's safe. It was equivalent to the entire anti-theft system going into defense mode.

This would cause some loss for Lancaster.

But Sophia didn't care. The scumbag guy had only suffered a financial loss, while she had almost been unable to go home to be with her loved ones.

"Let's go back first."

Gabriel turned around and took the lead, with Alex following closely and gesturing for Sophia to come along.

Sophia also wanted to go home as soon as possible. She grabbed her bag and caught up, just in time for the elevator doors to close.

She didn't care if it was the CEO's exclusive elevator or not.

She saw Alex press the button for the basement, so she quickly pressed the button for the first floor.

But Gabriel suddenly reached out and canceled her first floor.

"What do you mean?" Sophia asked angrily.
