Chapter 120 Sister Didn't Say Anything About Treating Me to a Meal
After venting her anger, Sophia ran out of the company and found a secluded corner where she burst into tears.
Despite her strong exterior, she couldn't resist and revealed her vulnerable side.
It was her own incompetence that failed to protect Sam.
She wished that she were the one who fell ill, not Sam.
Heaven above, why must my son suffer like this?
Sophia looked up, hoping to hold back her tears, but the more she tried, the more they flowed uncontrollably.
For so many years, she had been struggling to survive in country M with two children, accustomed to carrying everything on her own, never shedding a tear so easily.
But she couldn't help but feel heartbroken for her child.
She became familiar with that bottle of medicine because her postpartum depression worsened, and Vincent found a doctor who prescribed it for her.
At the time, she couldn't handle the side effects, let alone Sam.
"If you want to cry, just cry. Holding it in will make you sick," a warm and pleasant voice came. Sophia turned her head and, through her teary eyes, recognized a familiar figure.
She wiped her tears with a random swipe of her hand and then saw who it was. "It's you."
Sophia lowered her head and continued to wipe her tears. Jake handed her a tissue.
"From your tone, it seems like you're very disappointed?" His voice was like a warm spring breeze, gently warming people's hearts. He sat down next to Sophia.
"No," she replied. She just felt that, during their second meeting, it happened to be at her most pathetic state.
"No what?"
He seemed determined to get to the bottom of it. Sophia wasn't in the mood to chat with him, so she changed the subject. "Why are you here?"
"I just passed by and happened to see you crying here." Jake's tone was casual. He winked at Sophia and gave her a sweet smile. "Sister, if you don't mind, you can lean on my shoulder."
He patted his own shoulder.
Sophia had already regained her composure, but she wasn't in the mood. "Thanks, but I have to go back to work." She stood up, ready to leave.
"Sister, didn't you say you wanted to treat me to a meal?" Ever since he returned to the country, he had been looking forward to it.
Originally, he wanted to surprise her and have a meal together. But instead, he found her hiding here, sobbing. Jake's expression immediately changed, clenching his fists, secretly vowing to make the person who bullied her pay!
After Sophia had cried for a while, he appeared in front of her at the right moment.
"Sorry, I'm really not in the mood today. I'll contact you another day," Sophia said, wrapping her coat tightly around herself.
"Okay, then take this." Jake handed a pack of tissues to Sophia and smiled, saying, "Use these to wipe your tears when you feel like crying. Don't use your clothes; it's bad for your eyes."
"And... sister." He pointed to his shoulder again. "You can really lean on it."
Even though they had only met twice, this unfamiliar younger brother was able to offer her comfort in just the right way.
It was warm, and these clichééd gestures came so naturally to him.
Sophia gave him a smile, "Thank you."
"Goodbye, sister."
"Goodbye."
With the package of papers in her hand, Sophia walked back to the company, her emotions completely calm.
The incident of Sophia fighting with Tiffany in the CEO's office quickly spread within the company. At first, people from the general office said that Tiffany had been beaten up by someone, and then someone found out that it was Sophia from the design department who had hit her, and then various versions of the story began to circulate.
Sophia didn't have the mood to pay attention to the spread of this information. After she left, Gabriel took Tiffany to the hospital.
Harrison heard about this and left the video conference with the clients, rushing to find Alex to understand the situation, and then hurriedly ran to the hospital.
"What happened?" Harrison found Gabriel.
Gabriel stood outside the medical room, where Tiffany was having her stomach washed.
He didn't say anything, Harrison glanced inside and heard Tiffany's painful retching.
Tsk... That's so miserable!
"Old Fu, Old Fu, you're really lucky. Two women fighting over you..."
Gabriel coldly stared at him, and Harrison's teasing remark choked. After a long pause, he asked.
"Will Tiffany sue Sophia?"
Although what Sophia did was quite satisfying, if Tiffany became vindictive and wanted to go after Sophia, would Sophia have any chance of winning?
"She won't sue."
Harrison breathed a sigh of relief at Gabriel's confident tone.
Five years ago, he didn't know Sophia very well, but after five years, he could see that Sophia genuinely loved Sam. She did this because she cared too much for Sam.
So he didn't want Sophia to get into trouble and specifically came to inquire about the situation.
Of course, the most important reason was to see how miserable Tiffany was.
Harrison didn't stay long and returned to the company. He came to find Sophia again, but Sophia had taken a leave.
Margaret already knew about this and was worried about Sophia. Seeing that her work was distracted, she told her to take a leave and go home to rest.
It was already Friday today, and if the company had to take disciplinary action against Sophia, it would be next Monday.
Margaret thought about it and decided to go talk to the boss during this period.
However, she wanted to find out why Sophia suddenly hit Miss Foster, but Sophia refused to say anything.
Sophia didn't go home, but went straight to the kindergarten.
She could pick up Ethan and Emma anytime, but she wasn't qualified to pick up Sam.
Sophia stood silently at the entrance of the kindergarten. In the cold wind, her clothes fluttered, and her eyes were a little red. The two little darlings ran out happily, surprising her.
The corners of Sophia's mouth slowly curved upwards as she squatted down and caught the two children.
"Mummy, why are you here?"
"Did something happen, Mummy?"
The two little ones asked in unison, both very concerned.
Sophia gently shook her head, "Mummy took time off, so I came to pick you up early from school."
"Mummy's eyes are red," Emma mercilessly exposed her disguise.
Sophia rubbed her eyes, "Just got some sand in my eyes because of the strong wind."
"Mummy is lying."
"Well, it seems that my babies can't hide anything from me. Actually, Mummy is worried about Sam. You guys said he's sick, right?"
Mummy was sad about Sam's situation, and Ethan's heart twanged a bit.
"Oh, by the way, where is Sam?" Sophia wanted to get Sam and was prepared to call Gabriel.
"He was just taken away."
Sophia clenched her phone.
Gabriel! She silently cursed his name in her heart. If she could, she would have loved to crush Gabriel into pieces.
...
Sam was taken to the hospital, and Gabriel had already arranged for doctors to conduct various medical examinations on him.
