Chapter 659 Inspection
"Hey, how you doing?" Nicholas's face shifted a bit as he reached out, looking worried.
"It hurts a little," Caroline said, frowning hard.
Nicholas gently moved her hand away and started rubbing her knee. He shot a glare at Paul.
Paul, looking scared, gave a nervous smile and pulled Josie away.
"Keep going."
Caroline blushed at his words.
"Come on in."
Josie looked puzzled. As soon as she stepped in, Paul covered her eyes, so she didn't see anything.
Josie thought, 'What just happened? Why does this feel so weird?'
"Mom, your face is so red. Are you okay?"
Josie ran up, worried, and reached out to touch Caroline's forehead. Caroline lowered her head to make it easier.
"No fever," Josie said, frowning with concern. "Mom, are you feeling sick?"
Caroline smiled, "I'm fine. Just bumped into something. It doesn't hurt anymore."
Nicholas was still massaging her knee, and Caroline quickly pulled her leg back.
"Mom, be careful."
"Okay, are you hungry?"
Josie shook her head and then pulled out her homework from her backpack, starting to work on it.
The pain in her knee was gone. Caroline looked at it; there was a slight bruise, but it wasn't serious and would be fine in a couple of days.
In the evening, Caroline and Lisa were cooking dinner in the kitchen, Josie was practicing the violin, and Paul was helping Nicholas practice standing in the living room.
Each time, Nicholas could only stand for a second before falling back down.
Despite this, Nicholas didn't give up. With Josie's violin music in the background, he kept trying again and again.
Even though his legs were numb and hurting, he pushed through and broke out in a sweat.
"Nicholas, take a break," Paul suggested. Nicholas was pushing himself too hard.
"One more time."
Sweat dripped down, and this time, Nicholas managed to stand for a full five seconds before falling back down.
Paul exclaimed, "Nicholas, five seconds!"
Nicholas exhaled slowly.
"That's it for today."
At least there was some progress.
"Dad, you're amazing," Josie put down her violin and said.
Nicholas's mouth curved into a smile.
"Josie, you're amazing too."
Josie threw herself into Nicholas's arms. "Dad will definitely stand up."
Nicholas's eyes softened into a gentle curve.
Caroline came out with a dish and saw the warm scene between Nicholas and Josie, feeling a warm current flowing in her heart.
The doorbell rang, and Paul went to open the door.
"Caroline, Caroline, I'm here," Clayton shouted.
Paul let Clayton in with a look of disdain.
Clayton sniffed.
"Perfect timing! I'm just about to eat, Caroline," Clayton walked over to Caroline with open arms, ready to give her a hug.
Caroline dodged aside.
Clayton looked aggrieved. "Caroline, I'm your dear brother."
Caroline was speechless. "Go wash your hands for dinner."
"Okay."
Clayton had brought a lot of things again, all placed in the hallway. After dinner, he brought them in.
"These are from Mom, these are from Dad, and these are from me."
Clayton presented them like treasures, taking them out one by one.
Linda had bought a lot of clothes and jewelry, Daniel had bought some valuable home decor items, and Clayton had bought a lot of delicious and fun things.
Every time Clayton came over, he never came empty-handed.
Caroline's wardrobe was already full of clothes and jewelry from Linda. It felt like if she lived alone, they'd just keep sending more stuff.
Caroline accepted the items with a sigh.
Clayton played with Josie until late and decided to crash for the night.
Originally, it was just Caroline, Josie, and Lisa in the house. Then Nicholas moved in, followed by Paul, and now Clayton.
The once spacious house suddenly felt a bit cramped.
Caroline's place was buzzing and warm, but Daisy was a mess, totally stressed out.
She'd been tossing and turning for nights, unable to sleep. Trevor, sleeping beside her, always cried in the middle of the night. She couldn't take it anymore and had to put Trevor in the children's room for the nanny to handle.
Daisy thought, 'What am I gonna do? Sooner or later, Aragorn's gonna find out Caroline is the lost child of the Wolfs. Will Aragorn still have my back like he does now?'
She knew Aragorn too well; he was all about the money.
Caroline was Daniel's daughter, while she was just Daniel's niece.
When Aragorn found out the truth, he'd definitely kick Daisy out of the Watson Manor.
She had to find a way to keep the Watsons on her side.
Otherwise, she'd really have nothing.
Trevor's crying came from the next room again. Daisy irritably covered her head with the blanket and tried to ignore it, letting the crying echo through the night.
In the end, Gummidge put on a coat and came out to check.
She saw the nanny trying to comfort Trevor.
"Where's Daisy?"
The nanny cautiously said, "Ms. Wolf said she was very tired and wanted to sleep well."
Gummidge sighed.
"Give Trevor to me."
Even though Trevor wasn't related to the Watsons by blood, he'd been living in the Watson Manor for so long. Gummidge, who took care of Trevor with the nanny every day, had grown attached to him.
Seeing Trevor crying so much while his mom, Daisy, ignored him, Gummidge felt a bit resentful towards Daisy.
But thinking about Daisy's recent bad mood, she didn't call her. Gummidge carried Trevor downstairs to the living room, walking around to soothe him to sleep, and then stayed with him.
The next day, Gummidge talked to Daisy about Trevor crying every night.
Gummidge said, "I'm worried about Trevor's health. Let's move up the check-up."
Daisy was a bit annoyed. Since Trevor was born, everything had been going wrong, and he was always crying.
"But I have things to do recently." Daisy didn't want to go.
Gummidge sighed inwardly, "Well, I'll take him."
Daisy said, "Okay, sorry to trouble you."
Gummidge, feeling helpless, was very worried about Trevor, who was too young. She immediately had the driver take her to the hospital for a check-up.
Before Gummidge left, Daisy also went out with her bag, looking like she was in a hurry to do something.
After a series of tests, Gummidge returned with a pile of reports.
Aragorn was watching TV in the living room. Seeing her return, he asked, "How did it go?"
Gummidge looked bitter.
"The doctor said Trevor has a heart problem."
Aragorn's expression froze.
"Let me see the report."
Trevor was diagnosed with a heart condition.
At this moment, Daisy was still at the beauty salon, getting treatments until very late.
Gummidge waited for Daisy and told her about Trevor's condition when she returned.
Daisy's bag fell to the ground, and she looked utterly shocked.
