Chapter 31: At the Law Firm

"Why so urgent? What happened?" Harrison's nonchalant expression instantly turned serious.
"Sam refuses to sleep."
"I'll come and take a look with you. It's been a while since I've seen the little guy."
Gabriel didn't refuse, and Harrison quickly grabbed his jacket and followed behind Gabriel.
Gabriel drove while Harrison sat in the passenger seat, quickly organizing and saving the meeting notes in his notebook. He then threw the notebook onto the back seat and let out a sigh of relief.
"Should you go sign the contract or should I?"
"You go," Gabriel responded casually.
"Alright." Harrison had a face that said he already knew it would be like this. He looked at the road ahead in the darkness and squinted his eyes slightly. "How long are you planning to drag things out with Tiffany?"
"Huh?"
"You're not planning to marry Tiffany, are you?" Harrison looked at Gabriel with a disgusted expression, on the verge of calling him a scumbag.
"You know about my strange illness. Marrying Tiffany now would only harm her," Gabriel tightened his eyebrows. He had tried the method Tiffany had suggested that day, but it still didn't work.
"Tsk." Harrison chuckled with a sly smile. "Looks like you're really going to be a bachelor for life."
Gabriel couldn't be bothered with him.
"I have to say, your illness is really peculiar. Maybe the cause of it is Sophia, but you don't even like Sophia. Why would you develop such a strange illness because of her?"
"I met a medical academician overseas recently. I'll invite him for dinner and ask if he's come across any similar cases," Gabriel said.
Throughout the journey, Harrison kept talking incessantly. The car slowly entered the estate and stopped in front of the villa a few minutes later. Gabriel got out of the car and handed the car keys to the bodyguard, who then drove the car to the garage.
Harrison said, "Later, let me take a spin in your boss's precious Bentley Flying Spur."
The bodyguard looked at Gabriel, saw that the boss had no objection, and focused on driving, while Harrison followed behind Gabriel.
"Grandma," Harrison rushed up to Mrs. Lancaster as soon as he saw her, hugging the old woman tightly. "I missed you so much."
Mrs. Lancaster chuckled, "Little Harrison hasn't come to see Grandma for a long time."
"It's all because your grandson Gabriel has been squeezing me too hard. I just came back from a business trip today, and tomorrow I have to go on another one. So, I took the opportunity to come and see you at this late hour."
Mrs. Lancaster's worry over her great-grandson's matter disappeared when she saw Harrison, as if she had seen the sun. Harrison kept her company downstairs, while Gabriel went upstairs to see Sam.
As soon as Sam saw his dad, he couldn't wait and started using sign language, "Daddy, how is that aunt?"
Gabriel's eyebrows furrowed deeper upon hearing this. His son...
"Are you already concerned about Sophia?" he asked in a deep voice, "Did you choose not to sleep because of this?"
Sam nodded obediently beneath Gabriel's serious gaze. "You really like her," Gabriel stated.
Sam wanted to nod, but in the end, he shook his head. Gabriel felt a complex emotion stirring within him as he walked over to gesture for the little guy to lie down, then he tucked him in under the covers.
“She’s fine, go to sleep." Sam felt relieved and obediently closed his eyes. Gabriel turned off the lights and left the room, just as Harrison was about to come check on little Sam. "Is he asleep?" "Mm," Sam responded.
Harrison clicked his tongue, a little regretful, before catching up to Gabriel's stride and asking with concern, "I just heard from Grandma that Sam had another episode. What happened?"
"He was a little triggered and missed his mom," Gabriel responded lightly. Harrison sighed, "Ah, if only his birth mother was here. Fu, you should find a mother for little Sam as soon as possible, it doesn't have to be Tiffany, anyone will do... hey..."
Gabriel entered the room and the door slammed shut, leaving Harrison outside. Gabriel also didn't sleep that night, with Harrison's words buzzing in his mind like mosquitoes.
Was his strange illness caused by Sophia's death?
Bullshit, he didn't love Sophia, so even if Sophia were "dead," how could it still affect him like this? How blind would he have to be to not recognize his own feelings.
The next day, Sophia prepared breakfast for the two little ones, and after they went to school, she also tidied up and left the house. Standing at the door of the law firm, Sophia took a deep breath and silently encouraged herself before resolutely entering.
"Stop the car," Harrison urgently called out to the driver, opening the car window and looking back. "Strange, did I see wrong?" It really looked like her. "Forget it, let's go,"
Harrison looked for a while longer, but didn't see that person again, so he waved his hand for the driver to continue driving. He took out his phone and surprisedly sent a message to Gabriel.
"Fu, I just saw a woman who looks a lot like Sophia, do you need me to try to get to know her and introduce her to you?"
Gabriel responded with "Get lost." Harrison added, "Maybe finding someone similar to Sophia to be Sam's mommy might help with his condition?" Gabriel asked, "Where did you see her?" Huh? Fu was interested? Harrison's excitement burst forth instantly,
"At the entrance of the Ho Law Firm." Gabriel replied, "Maybe what you saw was Sophia." Harrison: ... A cold wind blew, causing Harrison to shiver with goosebumps all over his body.
"You better not scare me, it's so damn unlucky even in broad daylight." Carefully pondering, he realized he hadn't offended Sophia before; Sophia's ghost better not come looking for him. Gabriel said, "She's still alive."
Harrison: !!!
Sophia emerged from the law firm with a serious expression on her face. Regardless, she needed to find a job first.
It seemed that she would only have two companies to choose from. Originally, Sophia had wanted to think about it some more, but now she didn't have the time.
After these past few days, she had basically come to understand that Gabriel was an unstoppable force in City B. With her current abilities, it would be impossible to compete with him, the odds of winning were too small.
She had to prepare herself and improve her abilities while also fighting against Gabriel.
Sophia was about to reply to one of the companies when she received a call from a familiar number.
She didn't have a name saved for the contact, but she recognized the number as Gabriel's.
Sophia was about to hang up but in the last half second, she chose to answer. Let's see what he wants.
"Let's talk," Gabriel got straight to the point.
"There's nothing for us to talk about," Sophia said coldly.
"If you don't want to talk about Sam, then forget it," Gabriel said, about to end the call.
Desperately, Sophia said, "Okay, where?"
"Come to Lancaster," Gabriel replied.
When it came to Sam, Sophia definitely had to meet with Gabriel. Half an hour later, Sophia got out of the taxi and headed straight to the Lancaster Building, but she was stopped at the reception.
Without a card, she couldn't enter. There was also no appointment registered at the front desk.
Sophia impatiently called Gabriel on her phone.
"I can't get in."
Gabriel hung up without saying a word, and shortly after, Alex came down to escort her. The front desk staff were left in shock.
Under the curious and astonished gazes of many, Sophia entered the elevator with Alex, her face full of displeasure.

Sophia was directly taken to the General Manager's office.

Her appearance caught the attention of the secretaries and assistants working there, who all glanced at her curiously.

After all, in recent years, it was rare for women outside of work to come looking for the boss. Even if it was for work discussions, meetings were arranged in the conference room, not directly in the office.

This was Sophia's first time entering Lancaster Group, and she had no mood to look around. She was entirely focused on figuring out what Gabriel was thinking.

"Boss, Sophia is here," Alex announced as he brought her in.

Gabriel was sitting in a comfortable leather office chair, signing documents with a pen.

He responded casually and continued signing the documents without looking up.

"Sophia, please have a seat. I'll get you a cup of coffee."

"Thank you."

Sophia didn't stand on ceremony and sat down on the sofa. She glanced at Gabriel, and that one look made her pause.

Why do bad men always look so good!

Other men at his age would have gained some weight, but Gabriel had not only avoided that, his physique was even more well-proportioned than five years ago. Broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and a robust build made him hard to look away from.

Gabriel felt a gaze lingering on him and turned his head to look. Sophia immediately turned her head away, shifting her gaze.

But her heart skipped a beat.

Sophia silently warned herself that she was no longer the old Sophia, her heart had long since died, and she absolutely could not fall for Gabriel again!

Gabriel turned back to continue signing the documents, a slight smile playing on his lips.

Alex brought in two cups of coffee and then left.

Seeing that Gabriel was still busy, Sophia spoke impatiently, "Since you're so busy and don't have time for me, let's reschedule."

She was about to get up when Gabriel signed the last document and closed the folder with a snap.

"I can allow you to see Sam," Gabriel cut straight to the point, wasting no words.

Sophia sat back down.

She thought to herself, Gabriel wouldn't be so kind. He must have some conditions!

"Name your terms!" Sophia demanded.

Gabriel slowly walked over, his tall figure imposing like a giant rock, making Sophia feel a bit pressured. But she wasn't afraid. She raised her head and met his deep eyes without fear.

A document was thrown in front of Sophia.

"Sign this document, and I'll allow you to see Sam once a month!"
