Chapter 672 A Malicious Heart
Daisy's plan totally bombed, and the smug look on her face vanished after Caroline slapped her three times.
Right then, Charles chimed in, "Since you despise me and our kid so much, from now on, I'll take care of Trevor. Ms. Wolf, take care of yourself."
Daisy crumpled to the ground, her breath hitching as despair washed over her.
She thought, 'It's over. I really have nothing left! Am I going to lose Trevor too?'
Thinking of Trevor, Daisy felt a pang of reluctance, but then she remembered he was Charles's kid, and she felt a wave of disgust.
Even so, she still refused to let go.
"I disagree. I am Trevor's mother. You can't take my child away."
'Even though Trevor isn't Nicholas's, he could still be my bargaining chip. I won't give up, absolutely won't give up!' Daisy thought.
Caroline saw the wild look in Daisy's eyes and frowned.
She didn't believe Daisy wanted Trevor out of love; she just wanted a bargaining chip to keep causing trouble.
Nicholas and Caroline were on the same page. Their eyes met, and they knew they were thinking the same thing.
Nicholas raised his hand slightly, and Sharpe, seeing this, walked over, bent down, and whispered in Nicholas's ear.
Nicholas leaned in and whispered something to Sharpe. Then Sharpe went over to Charles and repeated what Nicholas had said.
Charles nodded with a complicated expression, looking at Daisy with some hesitation.
Sharpe reminded him, "Think about Trevor's situation. If Daisy keeps being irresponsible like before, Trevor won't survive."
Charles made a decision instantly.
Trevor was an accident. When he woke up and found out he had a kid, he was a bit shocked and found it absurd.
He had been in a coma for over a year, and when he woke up, he had a son. Anyone would find it hard to accept.
But when he saw Trevor's photo, saw that soft and adorable Trevor, his heart seemed to melt.
He didn't expect to have a kid before even getting married!
And it was Daisy, a wealthy heiress, who gave birth to his child.
However, before he could be happy, he learned that Trevor was diagnosed with a heart condition, and because Daisy didn't care about Trevor and was irresponsible, Trevor's condition got worse.
Daisy even used Trevor to go against Nicholas.
Once he knew the whole story, Charles followed Nicholas back to the country as soon as he got better, and he publicly revealed what happened that night.
Charles took a deep breath and slowly exhaled, his eyes coldly fixed on Daisy.
"Trevor's staying with me, and that's final. You're out of the picture. If you're not happy with that, you can sue."
For Trevor's sake, he had to fight Daisy for custody.
Daisy didn't have the money to hire a lawyer to fight for custody, and besides, she didn't genuinely want to raise Trevor.
The moment Charles mentioned suing, she began to back down.
For a long time, Daisy couldn't say a word, only sitting on the ground in embarrassment, with several clear red marks on her face.
Under the protection of bodyguards, Nicholas, Caroline, Daniel, and others left. After the bodyguards dispersed, some people came forward and cursed at Daisy, and some even spat at her out of anger.
Daisy was so disgusted that she screamed.
When Nicholas got back to the country, he brought Blake and his team along.
After they checked out Trevor's medical report, everyone looked pretty grim.
"How's Trevor doing?" Charles asked, super anxious.
He wasn't exactly winning any Father of the Year awards, only just finding out about Trevor.
"He's in worse shape than I thought. He needs a transplant surgery to survive," an old professor with graying hair said slowly. "It's a risky surgery, especially for someone so young."
Charles's head dropped.
He felt awful for Trevor.
If he hadn't acted on impulse that night, Trevor wouldn't have unexpectedly come into this world.
Charles was drowning in guilt.
Nicholas glanced at him and told the professor, "We have to do everything we can to save Trevor."
The professor frowned but nodded.
Trevor was really sick, but it seemed like a miracle. Blake found a suitable heart in Country M for Trevor's transplant.
To avoid any hiccups, Blake and the professor suggested doing the surgery in Country M.
Charles agreed right away.
As long as Trevor could live, it didn't matter where the surgery was done.
Actually, Charles also needed some rehab, so Nicholas set it up for both Charles and Trevor to go to Country M together.
Caroline visited Trevor in the hospital. His face was pale, and even his breathing was weaker than other kids.
She felt heartbroken.
Such a small child, how cruel and heartless must Daisy be to harm him.
Seeing two nannies taking good care of Trevor, with his clothes neatly folded and his formula prepared just right, Caroline felt a bit relieved.
Paul came over, looking for some praise.
"Caroline, I did a good job, didn't I?"
Caroline nodded slightly. Paul was always good at his job. He didn't know how to take care of kids but knew to find nannies who did.
Paul looked pretty pleased with himself.
Charles stayed in the hospital with Trevor. After visiting Trevor, Caroline left with Nicholas and Paul.
Daniel went back to the company, fuming. During the meeting, he was giving everyone the cold shoulder, making the whole conference room tense.
By evening, Daniel couldn't hold it in any longer and called Caroline.
"Caroline, where are you now?"
Caroline replied, "I just left the hospital, heading home."
"Nicholas is with you?"
"Yes."
Daniel's tone changed instantly, "I'll wait for you at your house."
He hung up before Caroline could respond.
Caroline had a pretty good idea why Daniel's tone had changed.
The car slowly drove down the road.
After finishing an electronic contract, Nicholas closed his laptop.
"Nicholas," Caroline called him.
Nicholas responded, "Yes?"
"Did you know all along that your father wanted to kill me?" Caroline's voice sounded muffled, thick with emotion.
Nicholas was silent for a second, then finally nodded, "Yes."
Caroline took a deep breath. At that moment, she didn't know what to say.
After getting this answer, she felt uncomfortable.
It was an indescribable feeling.
Noticing her silence, Nicholas felt a bit panicked and quickly explained, "I didn't tell you because I was afraid you would leave me again because of this."
The moment he found out, he was extremely scared.
He was too cowardly and had no confidence in himself in Caroline's heart.
