Chapter 728 Peace
The boat was in chaos. When Victor's men realized something was wrong, they immediately carried Sophia onto a speedboat and left. However, at the critical moment, Colin noticed the commotion from the speedboat and quickly chased them.
On the speedboat, they were conversing.
"Mr. Getty said if we get caught, we should throw her into the sea."
"What if she gets rescued?"
"She's unconscious. If we throw her into the sea, she'll sink immediately and be eaten by fish."
"But how do we explain this to Mr. Hughes?"
"Mr. Getty ordered us to do this."
They agreed and without hesitation, threw the drugged and unconscious Sophia into the sea.
Seawater continuously poured into her ears and nose, and Sophia painfully opened her eyes.
It seemed like she was in the water.
What happened to her?
She wanted to move her arms and legs to swim, but she had no strength at all. She was half-dazed, half-awake, and she even thought she was dreaming that she had fallen into the water and was about to drown.
Right, Caroline had once sent her a piece of knowledge, saying that if a person who can't swim falls into the water, they should try to relax their whole body, lean forward, and straighten their body with their hands at their sides.
Feeling a bit of buoyancy, Sophia used all her strength to kick her legs twice, and she began to float up quickly.
Then she continued to kick her legs.
She wanted to live; she couldn't die. Otherwise, Ethan, Emma, and Sam would live without a mother.
She had just accepted Gabriel again and hadn't even enjoyed a sweet romance.
She had just found Susan's relatives and hadn't yet fulfilled her duties to Celeste on Susan's behalf.
With strong willpower, Sophia burst out with more strength, her legs kicking like a motor, making her float completely on the water's surface.
She finally breathed in some air.
"Quick, there's someone in the water over there!" someone shouted.
A boat approached.
Colin immediately recognized Sophia.
Colin shouted, "Sophia!"
Sophia drowsily opened her eyes; she seemed to hear Colin calling her.
Colin jumped straight into the water.
"Sophia, I'm here. It's okay now. I'll save you."
Colin supported Sophia, and the people on the boat pulled her up together, then threw down a rope to pull Colin up.
David and Colin took Sophia back to shore, leaving the rest to the police to chase those people.
After getting on the boat, Sophia subconsciously knew she was saved. She relaxed and fainted again.
Sophia was taken to the hospital.
A few hours later, Sophia woke up in the hospital.
She looked at her surroundings, and smelled the disinfectant in the air.
Her head was dizzy, and many images flashed through her mind, like a movie of her life.
Vaguely, Sophia seemed to have forgotten something.
She turned her head and saw the man on the opposite bed, his handsome face pale.
"Gabriel." Sophia opened her mouth and called his name.
Gabriel, who had lost a lot of blood, was still unconscious.
Colin, hearing the sound, woke up with a start from his chair.
"Sophia, you're awake."
"Colin, what happened to me? What happened to Gabriel?" Sophia asked anxiously.
"Don't worry, everything's fine now. Gabriel is just asleep; he'll wake up later."
Colin pressed the call button, and the doctor came over to give Sophia a simple check-up.
"She's fine now, but she hasn't eaten for a few days. Just nutrient fluids aren't enough; she needs to eat."
"Okay, thank you, doctor."
After sending the doctor away, Sophia grabbed Colin's clothes.
"Colin, what exactly happened?"
Colin, seeing something strange, asked, "You were kidnapped for three days."
Sophia showed a confused expression; she had no memory of it.
"You don't remember how you were kidnapped?"
Sophia shook her head. "I thought I was sleeping. I didn't realize three days had passed."
"Do you remember having a gathering with friends that day?"
Sophia still shook her head.
Colin, worried, called the doctor again.
Sophia had lost her memory of that day.
However, after examining Sophia's brain CT, the doctor found no external injuries, and apart from detecting sleeping pills in her system, there were no other issues.
"Her memory loss is likely due to psychological reasons."
Excluding physical trauma, psychological reasons could be the only explanation.
Currently, apart from forgetting that day's events, there was no other memory loss detected in Sophia.
She recognized every one she should and knew that Gabriel had recently undergone surgery.
After drinking some porridge and regaining some strength, Sophia got out of bed and sat beside Gabriel, then held his hand.
Colin told her about Gabriel going alone to meet Jake to save her.
"Jake wanted Gabriel dead. Luckily, Alex arrived in time based on the signs Gabriel secretly left."
Gabriel had known there was a jammer there, so he left signs along the way and tried to stall Jake as much as possible.
There were several abandoned chemical plants in that area. Without the signs, Alex would have taken more time to find Gabriel, and he wouldn't have arrived in time.
"Unfortunately, Jake escaped too quickly," Colin said regretfully.
Sophia bit her pale lips, her eyes slightly red.
"Gabriel, you must wake up soon," Sophia said in a suppressed voice.
Upon hearing that Sophia had woken up, David rushed over.
"Sophia."
Seeing David and Colin, who had stayed up for her, Sophia felt warm inside.
"Uncle, Colin, thank you."
David's eyes were misty. He gently patted Sophia's shoulder.
"It's good that you're okay."
Then he asked Colin, "Did you inform your grandmother?"
Colin was annoyed and said, "I forgot."
David glared at him and personally called Celeste to report their safety.
Everyone back home was overjoyed to hear that Sophia was safe. The three kids clamored to video call Sophia, and Sophia, worried about them, didn't care about the time difference.
As soon as the three kids saw Sophia on the computer, Emma started crying, "Mommy, Ethan, Sam, and I missed you so much."
Ethan said, "Mommy, I took good care of Emma and Sam."
Sam said, "Mommy, don't worry about us. We're fine. You stay safe too."
Sophia wanted to cry. How could her three angelic children be so considerate and adorable?
Caroline also popped her head into the screen.
"Don't worry, I'm here. The kids are all fine."
In a daze, hearing the voices of the kids and Sophia, Gabriel was pulled from darkness into light. Gradually regaining consciousness, Gabriel slowly opened his eyes.
The first thing he saw was the white ceiling.
"Daddy's awake!"
Sam was the first to notice Gabriel opening his eyes in the video.
