Chapter 520 It Felt Like Being Badly Humiliated

Ella glared at Sophia. "Stop being so fake. If it weren't for you, Patricia wouldn't be like this. Get out."

Ella, fuming, moved to push Sophia.

David stepped in, pulling Sophia behind him. "Mrs. Brown, calm down."

With David's presence, Ella didn't dare move and just trembled with anger. "She... she wants to harm Patricia."

Patricia weakly said, "Grandma, I don't want to see her right now."

Celeste added, "Sophie is here to help. Let the doctor take another look."

Since this hospital couldn't help, they decided to try doctors from another hospital.

Jennifer chimed in, "Yes, it's our best option now."

"Sophie, let the doctor through," David said, making way.

Ella and Logan wanted to stop them, but David's cold stare froze them in place.

Ella's reaction made David suspicious.

The Blackwoods agreed to let the doctor Sophia brought examine Patricia, but Patricia resisted.

She cried, "Grandma, it hurts. I don't want to be tortured anymore."

Celeste, heartbroken, began to waver.

David stopped her. "Mom, if Patricia can cry and shout, she should be fine. Maybe the doctors here misdiagnosed her. Let these experts check her thoroughly."

Celeste nodded and comforted Patricia, "Don't be afraid. It'll be over soon. We'll be waiting outside."

David and Jennifer helped Celeste out. Seeing the Browns not leaving, David's sharp gaze fell on Logan and Ella. "Mr. Brown, Mrs. Brown, please take Mrs. Chloe Brown outside too. Don't disturb the doctors."

"Mom, don't go," Patricia said fearfully.

These were Sophia's doctors. If they did something to her, would she ever wake up again?

Patricia trembled as the Browns left, crying even more. "Dad, Mom, don't leave me."

David gave Patricia a probing look. Her cries sounded like she was calling her real parents.

Ella, on the verge of breaking down, wanted to stay, but Logan held her back, whispering, "Do you want the Blackwoods to find out?"

Ella froze and left with Logan and Chloe.

Patricia watched everyone leave, her mental state collapsing. She wanted to reveal the truth but a doctor suddenly grabbed her wrist.

"What are you doing? No, I don't want this..." Patricia shouted.

Outside, Celeste waited anxiously, while Ella clung to Logan's arm.

Soon, Patricia, sedated, was wheeled out for tests.

An hour later, the doctor reviewed the results. "Other than a mild concussion and a few bruises, there's nothing serious. She's slightly anemic, but with rest, she'll recover quickly."

Hearing this, Celeste sighed in relief but still felt uneasy. "Are you sure that's all? No other issues?"

The doctor replied, "None."

Celeste remained worried. "But..."

"What 'but'?" Ruth, in a wheelchair pushed by Betty, entered and looked at Celeste with disappointment. "Celeste, you've been fooled. She's perfectly fine and just acting to gain your sympathy."

With Ruth revealing the truth, Celeste's disappointment was clear.

When she first heard about Patricia's severe car accident, she was so worried she nearly fainted.

Patricia, panicking, quickly got out of bed and knelt before Celeste. "Grandma, I was wrong. I truly know I was wrong. I did have a car accident, but I was afraid you wouldn't forgive me, so I pretended to be on the brink of death to gain your forgiveness."

When Ella reminded her, this was the first plan that came to Patricia's mind.

As a child, whenever she couldn't get what she wanted from Sophia, she would use this tactic to make the Browns side with her, prompting Sophia's mother to give her what she wanted.

Celeste felt guilty towards Patricia because she had lost Susan for decades and wanted to make it up to Susan's daughter. So, if Patricia played this trick, it would likely work well.

However, Sophia had ruined everything.

Patricia now hated Sophia deeply, feeling humiliated by her.

Not only had her plan failed, but Celeste was now even more disappointed in her.

She hadn't expected David and Colin to return to the country!

The entire Blackwoods were here, but no one was helping her.

They all allowed the doctors Sophia brought to sedate her and conduct tests.

Patricia felt not just panic but a deep-seated hatred, a desire to destroy everything.

She clung to Celeste's leg, lowered her head, and cried. "I was afraid you wouldn't want me because of that incident. Grandma, I was wrong."

Patricia's desperate pleas softened Celeste's heart.

Ruth snorted, "You have such a wicked heart. Your grandmother is old, and you still play tricks on her. Have you thought about what would happen if she got sick from being too upset? You're too selfish. If I were your grandmother, I wouldn't acknowledge a granddaughter like you. You're a disgrace to the family."

Listening to Ruth's scolding, Patricia wanted to curse her, wondering why this old hag hadn't died yet.

Ella stepped forward. "Mrs. Celeste Blackwood, it's my fault. It's all my fault. I gave Patricia this idea."

Everyone's eyes turned to her.

Ella, with red eyes and tears, said, "Patricia confided in me, saying she had upset you and Jennifer. She was afraid you wouldn't love her anymore, so I gave her this bad idea. Blame me if you must."

Logan's eyes brightened. To calm things down, it was best for Ella to take the blame. He immediately played along, scolding, "What a terrible idea! Patricia is Mrs. Celeste Blackwood's own granddaughter. How could she not love her?"

"Yes, I was wrong."

Chloe also sighed, "This was really inappropriate."
